This is the best tire for the person who loves the turns I take it sidewall to sidewall with no slipping. Always feel confident with this tire

I put the Shinko 011 Verge on my CBR 1000. I have about 1000 miles of assorted styles of riding and have had no issues. It hooks up well and Ive had no rear end slides. This is my 8th Shinko and their tires are great at a great price.

Very please with the tire - Cornell Boyd   AL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes

Tire hook-up very well. Turn-in is excellent.Looks good on my stretch 08 Hayabusa. Tire price is very reasonable. Would highly recommend tire. Thanks Competition Accessories for your posted reviews.

I have had Continental Road Attacks OEM, Metzeler Z6's, and Dunlop RoadSmart tires on my 2007 BMW R1200RT. I am now on my second set of Shinko Verge tires, and they perform better than ANY of the other tires I've tried on my bike. Excellent grip in fast sweepers, quieter than the Dunlops, and they don't make that funky noise the Metzelers do when they start to wear. I got 6K miles out of the Shinkos, which is just about what I got with the other brands of tires. I recommended the Shinko Verge tires to a friend of mine, and he is very pleased with them as well.

Pros: grip, lean-in angle, wear, cost, smooth, braking
Cons: non that I can think of have not hit any rain

Still kinda new at about 300 miles. I ride a 09 versys which is a sport touring bike. Original Bridgestone 2216100 miles were awful, I think they're probably OK when new. Put some Shinko verge 011 on and my bike is completely different. Gotta say my favorite is the turn-in and how fast it is now. Braking improved. 011 are confidence inspiring, I'm not an aggressive rider but a spirited rider so these fit perfect. I do commute also, looking forward to seeing mileage. Overall great tire at a great price, 250 installed. 4 stars because review is new on my part, 300 miles is not long enough.

shinko 011 verge - david   MT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: inexpensive, fairly sticky
    Cons: poor responsiveness, questionable longevity

I bought the Verge desperate for a new rear tire and just as desperate to save some money. I have been running with Mich-pilot road 2, going through two full sets on a 02 Suzuki sv 650s and have to say that comparison seems a bit unfair. The mich's just seem to fall effortlessly into a turn and spring nearly as effortlessly back out, road feel is intimate and refined. The Shinko by comparison feels heavy, dull and slow. Also, though I only have a few hundred miles on it now I swear I can already see a flattening at the apex. That said, the Shinko is plenty tacky once you get it over and does accelerate ok coming out of a turn. I personally wont likely buy another one but still give it a recommendation from the stand point of ' you get what you pay for'. It is an inexpensive tire with value performance to match. If you are less concerned with technical road ridding performance and just need a decent around town tire I'm sure the Verge will do just fine.

Shinko Advance - Goose owner   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Installed these and it's like a new bike. Handles great wet or dry.
Cons: Waiting to see how long they last, but have to be better than the Pirellis that were on there.

Installed these on a MG Norge to get it ready to sell. Tires on it were Pirelli Angels and had started to wear on rear. Bought the bike on a whim and never liked it. These tires changed the bike completely. Never thought a set of tires could make that much difference. Have used Shinkos on a Tiger and a Sprint ST and loved them, but they changed this Moto Guzzi to a keeper. Not sure how I'm going to justify three bikes though.

Great Tire, Great Price - Gerb73   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
    Cons: [None]

It does what it is suppose to do. I do a 50 mile commute to work and another back on my 2000 Buell S3T with this tire on the rear and shinko 009 on the front. I am in NY and start riding seaon as soon as the salt is off the road and end it when the salt comes back. These tires keep me on the road in the heaviest of rains and in the corners. I didn't keep track of the mileage I got on them last season but it was the average. I put 9500 miIes on last year and most of them on this tire. I put a new rear tire on this season and will keep track. For a 100 its a no-brainer

I just took my R1 out for the first ride since mounting the 009 Raven. Before mounting, the tire gave a solid first impression, no deformities, clean, and firm. I did all the work myself. It balanced easily, and the first ride was very smooth. I'm looking forward to it breaking in.No buyer's remorse

Have Yamaha FJR, replaced OEM Metzler with 009 Raven. I do not ride hard in corners, but these tires are every bit as good as OEM. At this time when front needs replacing will definitely get the Shinko. Can't beat the price and quality.

Good tires don't have to be expensive. - 9ONE9   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: BEST price, Long life, great in the wet, good in the twists
Cons: slightly greasy in 105 degrees

I put a set of 009's on my Honda 919 about 8k May 2013 ago, replacing a set of 005's which were on the bike when I got it. Being happy with the 005's, I decided to try more of the Shinko line-up. The 009's are the hardest compound Shinko offers, but they feel much softer than other touring tires I've tried, especially Dunlops. Good stick in the rain and no surprises in the twists. They got a bit greasy at times in the 105 degree Texas summer, but my friends high-dollar name-band tires did, too. Some of them like to low-talk Shinko tires, but when I consistently finish our runs somewhere in the front, a few of them are beginning to assess their choices. 175. bucks to put a set of tires on a liter bike Count me in. I just got a set of 006's to replace these Ravens I think they have another 1.5k left on them when they're done. I'll get back with ya.

Pros: grip, cost, tread life & quick to temp.
Cons: haven't found a single one

I've uses these on many track day rides. I had them previously on my Kawasaki 1200 and put this set on my '07 CBR 600. The feedback from this tire is awesome. The traction is constant especially rolling the throttle out of a turn. For the confidence inspiring grip to the amazingly low cost to own, these will always be my tire of choice.

Pros: Good in the wet. Economical. Good grip when you need it, relative you to your bike and riding style.
    Cons: Don't have any negatives

I ride a Honda 919. I commute, do a bit a sport riding, as well as touring, so this tire has done it all for me. I believe this is one of the best tires for the money. It has good wet weather grip, and does well under pressure in the twisty stuff. I'm no Mick Doohan, but I'm not the church lady either. I have forty years riding experience and have changed a lot of tires. I just replaced my first set on the 919 at about 9200 miles. I did quite a bit of touring the past year, moving from CT to GA so had to make a couple of trips. I still had some left on the front, but changed both out. Toward the end of the life of the tire, I did start to loose tire pressure weekly, and had to check every few days. The front started to scallop a bit, but geez, I had over 9K on them. No complaints on my end. I've got a few friends now that ride GS1250's, Triumph Tiger,, Westrom. All like them, some get less milage than I did, but all like the value for money and performance.

Pros: Comp Acc service, price, traction

This is my third season with the Busa and my third set of tires. The first two were the Conti Motions and they are a great tire for the price, but decided to try something new this round and these were basically the same price. Ordered the tires and they arrived in just a few days as usual. Had the local shop put them on for me and two days later I was out for an 850 mile three day ride. These tires saw almost every weather condition imaginable, except for heat, over the next few days as I went from Eastern Washington to the ocean beach and back. They held up and kept great traction in 30 degree weather, light rain, torrential downpour, and even the snowslush I had the pleasure of riding in over the pass on the way home. So far a great tire, a great price, and great service.

Shinko 009 - Dusty   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Consistent and forgiving handling. Good wear.
    Cons: None

The Shinko 009 is more geared to the sport touring crowd than the hyper-sport rider. Due to their profile initial turn in is slower but they neither fall into a turn or try to stand back up like some pure sport tires. Keeping that in mind, these tires are very good. Their grip is the same wet or dry. If you have to change your line mid- corner or get on the binders due to misjudgment not an issue. I've used these tires on three different motorcycles, the current one being the rather heavy FJR 1300 and still get a solid 7000 miles out of a rear and generally the front will survive two rears. Most people overlook these tire because of their price or name and that's a shame.

Pros: Awesome set of tires for a great price.
    Cons: None

I made the switch from Michelin Pilot Road 2 Dual Compound Tires. My main concern when I first purchased Shinko 005 Advance Radial Tires was traction, as long as you let your tires warm up you could practically touch the road with your hand. I was surprised how well the tires felt with the rain still was able to feel safe and secure without having the worry that I might hit the deck. Definitely going to purchase another set.

After reading many positive reviews, thought I'd try the Shinko Raven 009. I am coming off of a Michelin Pilot Road 2 rear tire, and so far have about 1,000 miles now I cannot tell any difference between the two, except for price...the Shinko was substantially cheaper. I got about 7,000 miles out of the PR2 rear tire, am hoping to get comparable mileage from the Shinko, time will tell. Incidently, I already had a Shinko Raven 009 on the front, and am replacing it with another Shinko Raven 009. I got 13,000 out of the front tire down to the wear bar indicators, and am changing this weekend. I ride a 2006 Yamaha FJR1300.

Ordered the Shinko's on the advice of a friend to replace Bridgestones on a '01 ZX-12R. Amazed at how well they hook up, especially with the amount of power my Kawi is putting down. Have not had the opportunity to experience in the rain yet,but believe they will perform just as well as advertised. Also want to give a BIG SHOUT out to COMPACC customer service. Ordered on a Monday and rec'd tires on Wed afternoon just in time for Bike week in Myrtle Beach, as I was leaving on Thurs. Thanks COMPACC for the speedy delivery!

Great tires!! I commute 44 miles everyday, and I have put 2900 miles on these tires and honestly, they look like they still have 75-80 on them - NO JOKE!!! And no flat spot from commuting in mostly highway! They hold really well on the twisties, too. they really stick!! So, they are definitely good all around tires for commuting and aggressive street riding! Buy them, you won't be sorry!!

I've ran the Dunlop & the Continental. I've found that the best tire for your money is the Shinko 005 Advanced. From launching from the tripple tree at the track, to knee dragging on the back roads, it can hold it's own. I also found that it lasts longer. I ride a stock 2003 GSX-R 750, by far the best pound for pound sport ever built! I've got no problem jumping out in front & loosing the other riders in the twists & turns....

These tires are absolutely great in all weather conditions. I have used these commuting and at Deal's Gap. Very sticky when needed and great for mileage on my Suzuki Hayabusa. I usually get around 3k miles on most Michelin or Dunlop tires. These Shinko's are getting between 5-6k miles. They are definitely the "best bang for the buck". Shinko tires are what I would recommend for the aggressive street rider.

You need to try this rear tire once - Violione   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Long ware, good grip in all weather conditions.
Cons: Tire doesn't like cold temps much.

I ride a Yamaha FJR and most of the time I'm loaded with camping gear or two up. After 78500 miles on the FJR, I have tried just about every tire set on the market, but I keep coming back to the 009 for my rear tire preference for all the right reasons. Notice I am not talking about a set of 009's but just the rear. This tire performs very well in respects to ride, grip, dry handling, wet handling, cornering, and longevity. I consistently get 8500 miles of solid and predictable ware with no compromise in control or feel. The rubber compound is a blend across the tire whereas the middle of the tread has the hard rubber and as it moves outward toward the shoulders gets softer. In temps below 65deg.F the tire is SLOW to warm up andor stay heated. Even colder temps and it stays hard. Still a very good tire for the money. Not recommended for Speed Demons or Squids, just an all around great Sport Turing rear tire.

Surprised - 2000 ZX12R   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Handles great at moderate speeds
Cons: Handles not so great at high speeds

My kid slapped a set of these Ravens on his ZX14R so seeing the price he paid for them I did the same. Break in was quick with no issues at all. These tires handle great at normal to moderate speeds but at high speed the front tire wobbles. My kid said that his did the same thing but he said went away after few hundred miles of riding. Unfortunately I didn't get enough saddle time to find that out before old man winter came knocking at the door. I noticed that a R6 pilot was complaining about the handling of these tires. I think his problem was that his bike's to light. These are sport touring tires that are made for heavier bikes or loaded down one's. This company makes the right tires for his bike at nearly the same price. If he's worried about mileage buy 2 sets when they're on sale or buy a bigger bike I like these tires & they do what they were meant for. Just one of them isn't stupid fast. lol If you're looking for a great tire that's reliable from 0 to 140mph these will fit your bill nicely. These Ravens are the best every day street tire I've had on this bike. They out handled the Dunlop 207's that it came with. The rear tire of the D-207's felt greasy & they wore out very quickly. I think that the next set of tires I get will be a set of Verge's by Shinko. They seem to be more sport then touring oriented & the price is right to. Looks to me that the longer this company produces good inexpensive motorcycle tires the sooner the high bucked & hyped name of the major motorcycle tire manufacturers will either drop their prices or find a different sport to take full advantage of. lol It's a shame that you can put a full set of tires on a car for nearly the same price as buying 2 tires on a bike from one of the name brand manufacturers which usually doesn't include installation & balancing. I'd recommend these tires depending on what bike they were going on.

Great Tire For The Money - Bob - McKinney, TX   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: neutral handling, great price, never had a Shinko tire failure due to any defects
Cons: wish I could get more than 6K miles out of a rear tire

I have installed quite a few Shinko 009 Raven's on my BMW R1200RT. In fact, the rear tire always seem to last a maximum of 6K miles, so they get replaced about the same time I do an oil change. I have always been impressed with their performance on the road, however. I've never had an issue with them regarding quality or handling, and they seem perfectly suited for my bike.I do wish I got better mileage from them, but other than that I am very pleased with their performance. But don't try to push the Shinko Raven 009 front tire twice the distance as the rear 9K miles is about maximum for the front tire. Any more than that and they tend to cup severely.

New 009 Ravens on my ZX12R - ZX12R   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: These tires are the best low to mid range handling tires I've ever had on my 13 year old Ninja.
Cons: The front end seems to wobble slightly at high speed.

I bought these 009's a few months back & had them installed on my 2000 Kawasaki ZX12R by a local dealer. The mechanic told me to be carful for the 1st few miles to break them in. He also mentioned that the soft rubber compound that the tires are made from wouldn't take to long to break in & that I got a vey good deal on them. He actually hounded me as to where I got them for the price. These tires seem to look a lot like the Michelin High Sport tires that came stock on my 1990 GSX-R1100 Very similar tread pattern. Well anyway Once I broke in the tires I found them to be surprisingly good handling at low to mid range speeds. However at high speeds the front seems to wobble a bit. My son who has a ZX14R said his does the same thing. This leaves me thinking that my next set of tires will be the 011 Shinko Verge's. I haven't tried them in the rain but by looking at the tread pattern I imagine that they'd fair well My conclusion on these 009's is that they belong on a touring sport & not a sport touring. Shinko does make a good tire & you can't beat the price on anything better. These tires are great for the daily commuter but not for a muscle bike. If your muscle bike needs new longer lasting boots try the 011's.

Good tire on my 2nd set - TK   GA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great mileage,Low price, Good grip
Cons: Break in period seems to be more than 100 miles

This is a very affordable tire but it's has great traction if your more toward the sport touring end of the spectrum. I haven't gotten myself into a situation where I felt the tire wasn't up to par. This is the 2nd set I have ordered and I was able to get over 10,000 miles out of the 1st.

    Pros: Inexpensive well made tire
Cons: Not a top rated as the expensive ones.

I nned to put some miles on this tire to really evaluate it.I put it on and road 500 miles to Daytona for Bike Week and back.I really need to get out this Sunday and see how it handles at speed.Nice looking tire that I hope will last at least 3k miles. If it handles well and lasts the 3k I will buy it again.

Pros: Lower profile tire with large contact patch that hooks up
Cons: Does not last long on the street

Great tire for large displacement bike that needs traction.I bought this tire for my ZX12R to run on the Dragstip at my local track. The lower profile actually changed the gearing and it really hooks up..Lowered my ET on the first run.If you have an extended swing arm it is a must for improved traction.

Pros: Tread life, multiple weather conditions, PRICE, Grip
    Cons: Haven't found 1

Tread life got over 10,000 miles on my rear tire. still has a good 2,000 left. Only replacing becuase of a small hole causing a slow leak. Good in all types of weather rain, shine, hot or cold. Never had any gripping issue stayed on ground where I wanted it. PRICE no 1 can beat it.In my mind its a 5star tire but I haven't rode anything else.

    Pros: Great price
    Cons: [None]

I put about 8k miles on my 03 FZ1 each year so I'm looking for a rear tire about every 10-12 months. Many of those miles are commuting to work and back, with occasional rides in the countryside or up to TNNC area so I wear the tire out in the middle first. Since most of those miles are commuting on the flat and straight, I want to get the most miles for the best price. I was really pleased with the price of the tire and it rides as nice as the previous Pirelli Diablo that I had. The tire got good reviews from others so I pulled the trigger on my first Shinko. We'll know more next year.

Got a set for a ride from Los Angeles to Vegas, The feel was good and grip was great! Last 10 miles in to Vegas I opened up against a Viper, and at 195 they performed!! And Vegas streets have an extra coat of protection for the heat out there, which make the roads a little slick, 005's held my grip, Im loving the 005 front and back.

    Bandit 88
I'm just completing a cros-country bike trip... New York to San Fran and back. I had a new set of these on until the West Coast... very hard daily running in hot weather through Kansas... South Dakota... Montana.. etc. They lasted exceptionally well and were quite reliable in the wet. No issues on cornerin.. worked well. I replaced them with Bridegstone BT023 dual-compound on the west coast.. now I'm back east and wish I'd gotten the Shinkos instead.. they actually wore better than the Bridestones across 5000 miles.
    I have a Bandit 1200

Despite the horriblle Korean name, I've had very good luck with Shinko 009's so far. I've used three sets on a sport- modified Bandit 1200. They are decently stable, last a helluva long time, and are damn CHEAP compoared to the larger name brands. The front has a relatively high profile which ROLLS IN somewhat quickly... a little disconcering at first until I got used to it. But I learned to trust them; they never let go or got skittish and remained stable when on the edges. Many of my friends prefer this charcteristic. The compound os a bit harder than pure sporting tires, which is great for me, as I do a lot of fast distance. This is a tire worth being burned-off on long Sport Touring trips; it will get the job done and you'll have money left afterwards to buy another set. I have a set of 005's that I haven't tried yet, because I still have a lot of life on the 009's.

These tires are great for road riding and even better for track day/racing. I use these on my sprint and endurance race bike and wouldnt spend any more money on tires than what these can provide for you-unless you are qualifying for AMA regionals. For 200 bucks and your own sweat, these tires are really hard to beat. When you lose traction going in or coming out, you CAN still be in control-unlike the bald 008s. Break those loose and you never know what can happen.

I have them on a BMW R1150RS and they have performed great. Rode lots of twisties down in TN / NC area and then a four hour ride in pouring rain. The tires worked flawlessly. No complaints so far. Have 3000 miles on them and I'm hoping to get my normal 6-8K.

Ok for long life - Applewins   MI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Long Life
    Cons: Profile

Ok, not a bad tire and it does well in the rain, but the profile is really geared towards a flatter appearance and highway use. I'd say this tire best fits a touring bike and not a sport tourer. I have them installed on my B-King, and while the wear is doing really well, which is why I purchased them, they don't lend themselves to lean angle confidence. I have a Shinko 011's ready to be put on and that tire is definitely more in line with the Dunlop Q2's that I've used previously. If you were going on a long trip then the 009's might be a good choice.

Not impressed with the apex - Elvenhome   WI Recommended by Reviewer: No
Pros: Wears like a brick, good for commuting,
Cons: Very limited grip cold and hot when pushing tire in corner

Coming from Pilot Power 2ct to this tire is a royal smack in the face. I have had 005 shinkos on a honda F4 and love them. I Bought the 010 figuring they added more contour to the tire like they claimed, im not impressed. These tire slide like your on sand anytime your leaned over and add a fair amount of throttle. Granted when they do slide its predictable and controllable if you dont freak out and just ride it out. Ive put maybe 800-1000 miles on them commuting 90 miles a day, along with a few twisty roads and I want to throw them away and put the 2cts back on or get another 005 set for commuting. No way would I use these for anything more then commuting tire or for someone that never sees anything close to the edge of their tire.
