Great Tire, Great Price - Gerb73   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
    Cons: [None]

It does what it is suppose to do. I do a 50 mile commute to work and another back on my 2000 Buell S3T with this tire on the rear and shinko 009 on the front. I am in NY and start riding seaon as soon as the salt is off the road and end it when the salt comes back. These tires keep me on the road in the heaviest of rains and in the corners. I didn't keep track of the mileage I got on them last season but it was the average. I put 9500 miIes on last year and most of them on this tire. I put a new rear tire on this season and will keep track. For a 100 its a no-brainer

Smooth as butter - Fivespeed302   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Inexpensive, quick delivery
    Cons: None so far

I just took my R1 out for the first ride since mounting the 009 Raven. Before mounting, the tire gave a solid first impression, no deformities, clean, and firm. I did all the work myself. It balanced easily, and the first ride was very smooth. I'm looking forward to it breaking in.No buyer's remorse

Great tire choice - stukat   NV Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Price, riding feel
    Cons: None

Have Yamaha FJR, replaced OEM Metzler with 009 Raven. I do not ride hard in corners, but these tires are every bit as good as OEM. At this time when front needs replacing will definitely get the Shinko. Can't beat the price and quality.

Good tires don't have to be expensive. - 9ONE9   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: BEST price, Long life, great in the wet, good in the twists
Cons: slightly greasy in 105 degrees

I put a set of 009's on my Honda 919 about 8k May 2013 ago, replacing a set of 005's which were on the bike when I got it. Being happy with the 005's, I decided to try more of the Shinko line-up. The 009's are the hardest compound Shinko offers, but they feel much softer than other touring tires I've tried, especially Dunlops. Good stick in the rain and no surprises in the twists. They got a bit greasy at times in the 105 degree Texas summer, but my friends high-dollar name-band tires did, too. Some of them like to low-talk Shinko tires, but when I consistently finish our runs somewhere in the front, a few of them are beginning to assess their choices. 175. bucks to put a set of tires on a liter bike Count me in. I just got a set of 006's to replace these Ravens I think they have another 1.5k left on them when they're done. I'll get back with ya.

Front and Rear - Shinko Ravens   GA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good in the wet. Economical. Good grip when you need it, relative you to your bike and riding style.
    Cons: Don't have any negatives

I ride a Honda 919. I commute, do a bit a sport riding, as well as touring, so this tire has done it all for me. I believe this is one of the best tires for the money. It has good wet weather grip, and does well under pressure in the twisty stuff. I'm no Mick Doohan, but I'm not the church lady either. I have forty years riding experience and have changed a lot of tires. I just replaced my first set on the 919 at about 9200 miles. I did quite a bit of touring the past year, moving from CT to GA so had to make a couple of trips. I still had some left on the front, but changed both out. Toward the end of the life of the tire, I did start to loose tire pressure weekly, and had to check every few days. The front started to scallop a bit, but geez, I had over 9K on them. No complaints on my end. I've got a few friends now that ride GS1250's, Triumph Tiger,, Westrom. All like them, some get less milage than I did, but all like the value for money and performance.

Shinko 009 Raven - Sportrider 748   MO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes

Great tire....great price. Almost as long lasting as a much higher priced tire, but a lot less money. They wear evenly and stick well. My tire of choice from now on.

Awesome tire - Josh   MD Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Price, performance, quality
    Cons: None

I love the Shinko 009....ride is good, compound is great...nice and tacky broke in quickly.Havent had it out in the rain yet bet I am happy with the tread design. Would definately buy again

Shinko 009 - Dusty   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Consistent and forgiving handling. Good wear.
    Cons: None

The Shinko 009 is more geared to the sport touring crowd than the hyper-sport rider. Due to their profile initial turn in is slower but they neither fall into a turn or try to stand back up like some pure sport tires. Keeping that in mind, these tires are very good. Their grip is the same wet or dry. If you have to change your line mid- corner or get on the binders due to misjudgment not an issue. I've used these tires on three different motorcycles, the current one being the rather heavy FJR 1300 and still get a solid 7000 miles out of a rear and generally the front will survive two rears. Most people overlook these tire because of their price or name and that's a shame.

First Impressions - Guinnessmeister   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good gripage - Cool looking
    Cons: None yet

Got a few hundred miles on the tire and so far so good. 1st time buyer of this brand and so far I can recommend as being a good tire for the value. Have not tried in rain yet but stick very well on dry surfaces when avoiding the Florida Blue Hairs I take evasive action from every day - Slainte

Great value tire so far - philellis123   CO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: PRICE
    Cons: none yet

After reading many positive reviews, thought I'd try the Shinko Raven 009. I am coming off of a Michelin Pilot Road 2 rear tire, and so far have about 1,000 miles now I cannot tell any difference between the two, except for price...the Shinko was substantially cheaper. I got about 7,000 miles out of the PR2 rear tire, am hoping to get comparable mileage from the Shinko, time will tell. Incidently, I already had a Shinko Raven 009 on the front, and am replacing it with another Shinko Raven 009. I got 13,000 out of the front tire down to the wear bar indicators, and am changing this weekend. I ride a 2006 Yamaha FJR1300.

Great tires!! I commute 44 miles everyday, and I have put 2900 miles on these tires and honestly, they look like they still have 75-80 on them - NO JOKE!!! And no flat spot from commuting in mostly highway! They hold really well on the twisties, too. they really stick!! So, they are definitely good all around tires for commuting and aggressive street riding! Buy them, you won't be sorry!!

You need to try this rear tire once - Violione   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Long ware, good grip in all weather conditions.
Cons: Tire doesn't like cold temps much.

I ride a Yamaha FJR and most of the time I'm loaded with camping gear or two up. After 78500 miles on the FJR, I have tried just about every tire set on the market, but I keep coming back to the 009 for my rear tire preference for all the right reasons. Notice I am not talking about a set of 009's but just the rear. This tire performs very well in respects to ride, grip, dry handling, wet handling, cornering, and longevity. I consistently get 8500 miles of solid and predictable ware with no compromise in control or feel. The rubber compound is a blend across the tire whereas the middle of the tread has the hard rubber and as it moves outward toward the shoulders gets softer. In temps below 65deg.F the tire is SLOW to warm up andor stay heated. Even colder temps and it stays hard. Still a very good tire for the money. Not recommended for Speed Demons or Squids, just an all around great Sport Turing rear tire.

Great Tire For The Money - Bob - McKinney, TX   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: neutral handling, great price, never had a Shinko tire failure due to any defects
Cons: wish I could get more than 6K miles out of a rear tire

I have installed quite a few Shinko 009 Raven's on my BMW R1200RT. In fact, the rear tire always seem to last a maximum of 6K miles, so they get replaced about the same time I do an oil change. I have always been impressed with their performance on the road, however. I've never had an issue with them regarding quality or handling, and they seem perfectly suited for my bike.I do wish I got better mileage from them, but other than that I am very pleased with their performance. But don't try to push the Shinko Raven 009 front tire twice the distance as the rear 9K miles is about maximum for the front tire. Any more than that and they tend to cup severely.

New 009 Ravens on my ZX12R - ZX12R   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: These tires are the best low to mid range handling tires I've ever had on my 13 year old Ninja.
Cons: The front end seems to wobble slightly at high speed.

I bought these 009's a few months back & had them installed on my 2000 Kawasaki ZX12R by a local dealer. The mechanic told me to be carful for the 1st few miles to break them in. He also mentioned that the soft rubber compound that the tires are made from wouldn't take to long to break in & that I got a vey good deal on them. He actually hounded me as to where I got them for the price. These tires seem to look a lot like the Michelin High Sport tires that came stock on my 1990 GSX-R1100 Very similar tread pattern. Well anyway Once I broke in the tires I found them to be surprisingly good handling at low to mid range speeds. However at high speeds the front seems to wobble a bit. My son who has a ZX14R said his does the same thing. This leaves me thinking that my next set of tires will be the 011 Shinko Verge's. I haven't tried them in the rain but by looking at the tread pattern I imagine that they'd fair well My conclusion on these 009's is that they belong on a touring sport & not a sport touring. Shinko does make a good tire & you can't beat the price on anything better. These tires are great for the daily commuter but not for a muscle bike. If your muscle bike needs new longer lasting boots try the 011's.

Good tire on my 2nd set - TK   GA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great mileage,Low price, Good grip
Cons: Break in period seems to be more than 100 miles

This is a very affordable tire but it's has great traction if your more toward the sport touring end of the spectrum. I haven't gotten myself into a situation where I felt the tire wasn't up to par. This is the 2nd set I have ordered and I was able to get over 10,000 miles out of the 1st.

009 Tire - B. Ike   NC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Great price.
    Cons: [None]

I ordered this tire based on previous reviews.I have yet to put it to the test but if it's as good as others have written,I'm sure I will not have any complaints.Only time will tell.

Raven 009 - RR JWood   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Tread life, multiple weather conditions, PRICE, Grip
    Cons: Haven't found 1

Tread life got over 10,000 miles on my rear tire. still has a good 2,000 left. Only replacing becuase of a small hole causing a slow leak. Good in all types of weather rain, shine, hot or cold. Never had any gripping issue stayed on ground where I wanted it. PRICE no 1 can beat it.In my mind its a 5star tire but I haven't rode anything else.

    Bandit88
Despite the horriblle Korean name, I've had very good luck with Shinko 009's so far. I've used three sets on a sport- modified Bandit 1200. They are decently stable, last a helluva long time, and are damn CHEAP compoared to the larger name brands. The front has a relatively high profile which ROLLS IN somewhat quickly... a little disconcering at first until I got used to it. But I learned to trust them; they never let go or got skittish and remained stable when on the edges. Many of my friends prefer this charcteristic. The compound os a bit harder than pure sporting tires, which is great for me, as I do a lot of fast distance. This is a tire worth being burned-off on long Sport Touring trips; it will get the job done and you'll have money left afterwards to buy another set. I have a set of 005's that I haven't tried yet, because I still have a lot of life on the 009's.

Ok for long life - Applewins   MI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Long Life
    Cons: Profile

Ok, not a bad tire and it does well in the rain, but the profile is really geared towards a flatter appearance and highway use. I'd say this tire best fits a touring bike and not a sport tourer. I have them installed on my B-King, and while the wear is doing really well, which is why I purchased them, they don't lend themselves to lean angle confidence. I have a Shinko 011's ready to be put on and that tire is definitely more in line with the Dunlop Q2's that I've used previously. If you were going on a long trip then the 009's might be a good choice.
