Pros: Size L-46 Chest--my chest is 42 and this fits trim I ordered the L-1 accessory better back armor than the original armor that comes with this jacket and this jacket also has a full removeable jacket liner for cooler days or evening. I have always added the better quality armor for my riding,.
    Cons: none

The quality of this Shadow Scorcher Mesh Jacket is excellent and the color red fits my style while I ride my custom Red H-D Super Glide. This jacket also looks awesome when I ware my black club leather vest over it........Rami of NH

Great jacket - Dave   OH Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Construction, value, performance
    Cons: None

This jacket is now the 3rd Shadow jacket that I have purchased and I continue to be impressed with them all. The Scorcher fits the need for a short mesh jacket perfectly. I will continue to buy gear from this manufacturer as long as the quality and value continue as I have already become accustomed.

Good midweight jacket - Lew   CO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: sturdy, vents, leather patches on shoulders & elbows extra protection
Cons: waterproof liner probably effective, but not breathable, no pockets

It's not mesh, so I won't say it's lightweight. The CompAcc video basic description is good.I'm a 40 chest and normally wear large or size 40 coat or dress jacket, and I take a 35 sleeve dress shirt. The Large fits me fine generally and in the sleeves. The vents work well. I sweat easily, so I'm considering a mesh jacket -- next year. This year I've been on the highway when temps are in low 90s, and I'm just maybe beginning to be a little uncomfortable. Comfortable enough. No perspiration at all. I really feel the evaporation draft breeze on my sides. If I go up into the mountains and temps drop 10 or more degrees, or if the clouds start sprinkling, I'm fine. Cruising in town begins to get hot.The lining feels like plastic, but it isn't lined so I don't know how it will be in 40- or 50-degree fall weather. I haven't been caught in a downpour, so I haven't given it a good test for waterproof.

Great for the price - Johnny   CT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great fit, design, big vents, price
Cons: Removable waterproof liner feels like wearing a trash bag during workout

I have the XL blue jacket, I'm 6'3 225 and the jacket fits just right. I have used the jacket so far about 8-10 times on like an hour trips and found the jacket to be quite comfortable. When you are moving it does not feel hot or cold but when you are stuck in traffic in 80F you will start to feel hot a bitthe vents help a lot. The removable liner that comes with the jacket, really feels like wearing a trash bag during a workout but I only used it once for ten minutes and removed it from the jacket. I have not been caught in rain yet with this jacket on, so can't commit how waterproof it really is. It's great that the jacket has extra protection for shoulders, elbows and your back. Sometimes these pads feel like they keep shifting on you as you move but for me I got use to it after little while. If you are looking for a jacket with a armor pads and don't want to spend more then a 100, this jacket will do. Tip especially if you are first time buyer, stop by your local motorcycle store and try at least one or two, to see what is right size for you before you commit to anything.

Tailor fit with comfort - D'Mc'B   MS Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: More than what I expected, very nice jacket
    Cons: I want another one.

When I initially tried on the jacket, I was taken away as to how well it fit, the performance and design of the jacket which makes it well equipped and fully functional. I hope to own a pair of the matching pants someday.

Scorcher keeps you cooler - PhotoPhil   NC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Cool mesh construction, protective fabric & pads, perfect fit
Cons: Buy next larger size and you'll be fine

Awesome mesh jacket for a great price, that's what I was looking for and found in the Shadow Scorcher Jacket. After you figure that they run a whole size smaller and get the next size up, you've got a jacket that fits like a glove. The mesh, with a t-shirt underneath is fine, sometimes cooler than normal if you stay on the shaded back roads. The protection is great and also removable. I've tried several of the more expensive brands and clearly you're paying for the name. I debated over the various colors and finally settled on the Hi-Vis yellow, I may order the color that matches my bike just for a change. You can't go wrong with this jacket

Shadow Jacket Great Buy - Garey in San Diego   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Bargain pricing, removable liner, Hi-Viz, armoring where it needs to be
Cons: Zipper can hang up, no easy way to hang liner when removed, could use another interior pocket.

First off it must be said that this jacket is a bargain, you get a lot of useful utility for under 100. As mentioned in the Pro's section this jacket I purchased the green to match my Kawa green fairings and it is very Hi-Viz. The jacket flows good air, good for SoCal and I would imagine other warm climes. It provides a secure feeling with the included armoring. It also has a flattering fitment with a tapered and somewhat adjustable profile. I am a large and the large that I ordered fit me quite well. If you are portly I might consider ordering one size up due to the taper of the jacket. On the constructive criticism side of things the zipper can sometimes hang up on the front piping, so that you have to use one hand to bring the zipper up and the other to hold the jacket apart so that it doesn't hang there. I would like one more interior pocket for wallet and cell phone. And the lining is kind of difficult to store when out of the jacket. When I put it on the hanger and take the jacket off over it, the liner falls to the floor......would help to have a locker hook added to the liner to more securely attach it to the hanger. Finally, buy this jacket as stated a bargain and works very well in warm climates.

Scorcher Mesh Jacket - Donny Craft   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Good Price
Cons: Sizing, waterproof lining sticks to bare arms.

Received jacket 30 min before leaving for 40 mile commute to work. Temps were in the upper 70s,jacket flowed enough air that a long sleeve shirt would have been nice. Havent had a chance to wear in the rain but liner appears effective.Going to buy another one for my wife.

The Shadow Scorcher Mesh Jacket fits as described and seems well made, especially for the price. The only downside is that, unlike my previous jacket, it does not have a front breast pocket which was convenient for holding my parking pass.

Excellent value in a vented jacket - Harvey Cohen   NJ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Very good ventilation. Ventilation easily adjustable. Very good protection.
Cons: Velcro tabs in sleeves may require simple trimming. Back pad a bit stiff.

I really like this jacket. Much better protection than mesh, and more versatile. Fit is true to size Medium for my 39 chest 5'10 height 175 lb.. Ventilation with all 4 vents open is almost as good as mesh and works quite well with an evaporative cooling vest. Close the 4 zipper vents and it's good for cooler weather. Add the zip-in waterproof liner for more warmth. The back pad is obtrusively stiff when I don the jacket, but feels fine once I'm riding.Velcro tabs inside the sleeve armor pockets have corners that can poke your forearms. Just snip the corners very slightly so that they're more rounded. An absolute screaming deal at the closeout price.

i wasn't expecting this jacket to be this great for the price i paid. fit was excellent and armor was great. this jacket even includes a back armor while other jackets only comes with a foam padding. cold and wet riding is what this jacket is meant for. will get hot during hot days especially in the arm area since there is no ventilation there.

Very pleased - 2 For the road   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great value, well made, super visability yellow, good air flow
    Cons: Fit is pretty snug.

Thought I'd give this jacket a shot as an inexpensive replacement for my old mesh jacket. I'm really glad that I did This is a really good deal. I usually am between a large and medium when sizing jackets. After reading the reviews I went with the large. Good thing It really fits well but there is very little extra room. May be able to squeeze a light fleece underneath but not much more. For reference purposes I'm about 5'-8' and weigh between 165-170 with about a 32-33 waist. Others have commented that there is no way to adjust the sleeves. I found the sleeves to be perfect. Loose enough not to be restrictive but definitely not loose enough to flap around. As noted by others the sleeves are a bit long but when riding they are fine. It's too new to have tried out it's waterproof capabilities but I feel confident based on the overall quality it will be fine. Zippers operate smoothly. Nice size pockets. I've never had one of the high dollar jackets but I can't imagine them being significantly better than this one. And for the price, I'd highly recommend this jacket. Hey, it's 80 bucks Great deal

Pros: Excellent ventilation, comfortable, great quality
Cons: Back armor is flat, doesn't mold well to your back

I live in Texas and this is bar none the best warm and hot weather jacket that I've had. Very impressed with the quality of the zippers, the stitching, the design, etc. Excellent airflow, and aside from the somewhat not ideal back armor, the rest of the armor on the jacket is ideal and wears well.Highly recommended.

VERY NICE JACKET - NICK   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: price, ce armor, the fit
    Cons: liner

I went on a 200 mile ride today with my hi-vis shadow jacket about 80 degress with a little rain. fit was very nice I wear a large so I got a xl perfect arms were not baggy or too long just right im 5 11 200lbs. so you can compare.the rain and wind liner worked just fine but after it stopped raining and got a little warm the liner was sticking to my arm, would be nice if they had just mesh in the inside part of the liner arm area to prevent this. with out the liner a ton of air was flowing. mine came with ce back armor I thought it was going to be a foam pad not sure how this jacket will hold up in a accident I think theres just too much mesh take a look at the back of the jacket

Nice Jacket - Mr. Twister   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Good price,materials and workmanship.
    Cons: None

The Scorcher jacket is a great value. Workmanship and materials are as good as jackets costing more than twice as much. Air flow through the mesh on a hot day seems good, but you're still going to get hot when you stop moving..I have a 33 inch waist and usually wear a medium and that's what fits me in the Scorcher. The body is just a little looser than I would like, but not so loose as to be a problem. I guess they made it with some room for layers underneath, but I'm usually only wearing a T-shirt. When the liner is in it takes up some of that room too. I like the velcro adjusters at the waist. The arms are a snug fit, which means no flapping in the wind and they are long enough to cover even a short summer glove. The description says there are sleeve take-ups. There are none, but you don't need them with this jacket. The armor in the shoulders and elbows is well placed and comfortable. The back armor, though a bit stiff, is of much higher quality than what came with my more expensive Tourmaster Transition 3 jacket.I haven't had a chance to try the wind and waterproof liner yet.

Pros: Great Fit, True to Size, Comfortable
    Cons: Sleeves a little long

Just got this jacket rode about 200 mi in hot 95 degree weather. Very comfortable and kept me cool even while taking a break the first thing I do when stopped is shed the jacket. No noticeable sweat. Easy to adjust for my torso. Great jacket, highly recommend. Only complain was that the sleeves were a little too long, came down to mid-hand. I wear a Medium.

Very Nice Jacket - Live to Ride - Ride to Live   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Nice Nice Nice.... all around Nice
    Cons: Runs a size small

A very nice jacket. Super fast delivery. Ordered on Monday late at night, arrived on Thursday morning. I had a question beforehand so I called the 800 # a very friendly girl was glad to help me out. The jacket itself runs a size smaller than you usually wear thanks to others who left feedback so I ordered a size larger. I normally wear a large so I ordered an XL and it fits perfectly. I had just fired up my bike for a ride when FedEx walked down my driveway. Talk about perfect timing. I had some really cool HD patches I ordered sewn on the back for a custom look. Air flows nicely with the venting zippers open, I actually stopped and removed the zip out liner when it got too warm and stashed it in the luggage bag. Not a cheap feel either. its actually got some weight to it even with out the armor but leave it in DRESS FOR THE SLIDE.... NOT THE RIDE

Pros: Excellent value. Nice, durable jacket.

Nice, heavy-duty jacket. One nice feature is the color coded loops at the cuffs of the liner. This makes re-installing the liner much easier. This is a heavy jacket. As other reviewers have said, the size is a little snug. If you're on the edge between sizes, I would definitely choose the larger size.Superb value and the shipping could not have been any faster.

Scorcher is actually cool - CWG   RI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Value, air flow, quality of construction
    Cons: weight

This is a terrific hot weather jacket for the money. The air flows freely through it. I have used it on a few pretty muggy days in the 80's, but not had a chance for those 90 plus humid days we get here in the Northeast yet. I can already tell that it will be much cooler than my Jet vented jacket and between the two of them, I should have a perfect jacket for the three season riding we do here. It is much heavier than you expect when you heft it, but the weight carries well. The back pad is great to have there, but you can tell it's going to get hot in the middle of your back when it's scorching out. I'd rather have the protection.

Great quality - Jack Liu   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Excellent quality
Cons: arms a bit long, too much room at elbow

I just received this jacket, and I love it, you can tell from out of the box that this is something made from good quality. The mesh materials are excellent, they are sturdy while at the same time, if you take off the lnner water proof liners, the venting is excellent. There is plenty of coverage with CE armor at shoulders, elbows, and hard back foam. The best thing about this jacket is the option of hi-viz selection, I can't believe how bright this thing looks in the shadows even. This will be very helpful in keep the rider safe, as well as not gathering much heat under the sun.I am 5'10, 185lb, and I ordered size L, the chest fits me just right, however I feel like the arm is a bit too long for me. Another potential problem i see is that there is too much room on the arm, especially the elbow area, the CE elbow armor have too much room moving around, I'm afraid that in the event of crash, they may not stay in place to protect the riders. But this is not a big deal, because I'm going to stitch the fabrics a bit on the arm to make them tighter.Overall, high recommend, I got this when it was cheap at 79.99, but even at 100 I still think this is great value.

Worth every penny - lowflyingowl   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Well-made, flows lots of air, highly visible
    Cons: None yet

Got this to replace an old Fieldsheer mesh. The Scorcher is well-made, flows a ton of air. The collar is more comfortable than the old Fieldsheer. The cut is a closer fit, which I like. I've put 5000 miles on it and it still fits and looks great except for the bugs. One thing - the back pad it comes with is not CE rated - just a thin foam pad. I used the one from my old jacket -- a little heavier but better protection. this jacket includes a rain-proof inner liner which I promptly threw out --I use a tourmaster Sentinel rain jacket OVER the Scorcher which works great. Makes no sense to have a rain proof barrier under the jacket IN the fall, I'll add a down or heated vest underneath to keep warm. Well worth the fantastic price

    Pros: [None]
    Cons: [None]

I ordered a size larger than I normally wear and fits snug. One small defect, the zipper pull on the left sleeve was missing the cord. I have the yellow and black jacket and has great visibility. Remove the rain liner and plenty of air flow to keep me cool on those hot days. The liner is easy to remove and install. The color coded tabs help to line up the sleeves. The armor in the elbows and shoulders is solid and the extra abrasion on the elbow area is durable. I hope I don't have to test it out.

The waterproof liner comes out easily but I haven't ridden in any rain to try it out. Last but not least, the price can't be beat.

Pros: Visibility, Comfort, Protection, Air flow, Pricing

Bought this jacket for my spouse. She began riding after 3 months of recovery from a t-bone side impact of a car due it's sudden left hand, no blinker turn and they didn't SEE her.Her Victory Vegas was totaled and she suffered a broken arm, bruised ribs and other lesser injuries after flying over the car. She wanted a summer jacket that was visible, yet stylish and comfortable. After doing some research I decided on this jacket. It has proven to be all the descriptors mentioned. The spouse is not only comfortable in the jacket, but cmfortable on the bike knowing there is the added visibility it provides... She rides again.

Excellent jacket - dblair11   ND Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Lightweight, good armor, breathes well
Cons: Liners felt a little sticky to me

I got this jacket in last week and took it for a couple hundred mile trip over the weekend. I have to say it performed better than expected. I bought it for the cooling it can provide I have the shadow scorcher pants and they are awesome, so I bought the jacket as well to replace my aging castle that was not very cool. Well the way it turned out the first day out was a little cooler than anticipated, so I put the liner in and I was very comfortable for warmth with the liner in. The next day was warmer and the liner came out and it was very cool. The sizing does seem a little on the small side, a little more room in the stomach area would help, but so would dropping a few of the excess pounds I have. All in all I can't recommend this jacket enough. If you're looking for a good summer jacket you can't beat this price and feature set

Great Buy - Kawcatcher   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Almost everything Great product, great buy, great price, and fast shipping.
Cons: Size runs snug, order one size larger for traditional fit. I added zipper pulls for gloved convenience.

This summer my heavy armoured leather jacket was cooking me here in the land of howdy. This scorcher armoured mesh jacket in flouresent yellow was just what I needed. It has full armour and about a quarter of the weight of my leather one. I easily removed the handy rain liner and was amazed when I rode. It was so much cooler. Things do heat up a bit when stopped, but as long as I am moving I am cool. The fit is snug, so if you are planning on wearing layers underneath the jacket I would get a size larger than normal. But for me the snugness is perfect. I like the feel that the armour will stay where needed if needed. If I need another layer I will just replace the rainliner and it will be a two season jacket.I did need to add zipper pulls for use with gloves, because for me its ATGATT.

When I was selecting the size of jacket to buy, I went by how I like my shirts to fit, no by the sizing charts. According to the chart, I should've gotten a large, not and extra large tall. The sleeve's are a bit long for my taste, but I can deal with it. If you are considering on buying this jacket, please go by what the sizing chart says.

No-nonsense, right stuff jacket. - SDGR   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Heavy duty, hi vis is HIGHLY VISIBLE, added length at wrists a plus.
Cons: Could be a touch longer around the waist, lacks a belt around waist, sleeves don't tighten.

For 100 USD this isn't Lewis Leathers and it's not Savile Row, boys. However for a no-nonsense, high utility, high visibility everyday jacket it looks every bit the part. The armor is quality, the leather patches are in all the right spots, and the vents are more than adequate to get decent ventilation even in summer. The hi vis yellow goes BANG louder than bombs and I'd recommend it if you want to be SEEN. Although the pictures wouldn't seem to say so, the yellow used on the jacket does match the yellow on the Shadow Speed Pro 2 gloves. The sleeves are a touch longer than usual but I like it, because they can be tucked into gloves even if the gloves aren't long gauntlets. There are no belts or tightening devices, so what you get is what you get as far as midsection and sleeve widths go though so keep that in mind. Not a problem for me. I got 2XL. 6 ft, 230 lbs, 49 in chest, 18.5 in neck. Fits well though could be a bit tighter around the midsection. Doesn't ride up though. Firmly recommended.

Pros: Perfect fit, armor good quality and in the right place while riding. Removable liner blocks wind in cool riding and is waterproof., wo liner the jacket is cool and comfortable in weather up to low 80's. A great jacket for an especially good price
Cons: Liner a bit of a struggle to install, and pretty warm in warm weather rain.

I needed a substitute for my summer air Jacket The Shadow with the bright yellow Hi Viz color for visibility seemed a perfect choice plus a fair price. After ordering it arrived within 2 days...amazing and the fit was perfect. Good armor and good placement of that armor it all sits in the proper place while riding. Living in the NE this fits the bill for cool to cold mornings and evenings and cool enough to be fairly comfortable up to the mid 80's. It' is nicely made and the HI Viz color is perfect for visibility Great fit, Large Tall I'm 6'2' and 190lbs, the sleeves a bit long but that's perfect for a change. Pros: Great fit, price, and versatility
    Cons: Runs small

I ordered this as a warm weather jacket, and was also looking for a hi-visibility jacket with protection. This jacket fits the bill, and the price is right. It is comfortable and has plenty of ventilation with the mesh fabric. It features a liner that will block wind and water, and will keep you relatively warm in a cool morning or early evening. The only drawback is that it runs small. I normally wear a large 44 chest and had ordered an XL, just in case, since I'd heard they ran small. Well, even the XL was tight fitting and limited my movement, so I exchanged it for an XXL which fits just right.

I'm 6'2, 210 and I usually wear a LTall or XL depending on the cut. I ordered the XL here and it fits great. Snug around my torso, the sleeves come just past my wrist in the riding position. The Shadow Speed Pro 2 gloves that I got at the same time snug right up under the sleeve. I've only ridden with the liner in so far so I can't comment on the ventilation yet. I've been comfortable in 50 degree weather with in however 2007 FJR.

    Cons: Mild ventilation

I got this jacket in the spring of last year for the upcoming season. It fit great, looked great and I had a couple of articulating back protectors that I switch between jackets for additional protection. The jacket performed well during the spring and during a couple of rainy days. The issue I have with the jacket is that when we got to the hot part of the summer, here i in SC, the airflow through the jacket just wasn't cutting it. Keep in mind that the summers here are not only hot, but humid as well. I ended up purchasing another jacket that was entirely mesh for the comfort. I still have the jacket and I love it, but can only comfortably wear it in the spring and fall.

Pros: Flows air very well. Fits well. Hi-viz adds safety.
    Cons: Waterproof liner is cold.

This is an excellent value in a hot-weather jacket. It's easy to don and doff, has reasonably good armor, and flows air very well. I'm 5'10' 175 lb chest 39 waist 35, and a large fits me perfectly. Room for a thin-to-medium liner, but a thick one would be very tight. The zip-in waterproof liner is right against your skin and feels clammy in cold wind or rain. I ditched it and carry a waterproof shell to wear OVER the jacket in cold and rain.

First mesh jacket I've owned before I would just wear a t-shirt in hot weather & last year decided to start wearing protective gear. The liner kept me warm but a bit calmy as it doesn't breath. Kept me dry in downpour. The fit is very good I'm 5' 11 & 180 lbs. In the hot weather it ventilated very good even behind a fairing I ride a 95 ultra classic. Great jacket, good quality & fit I purchased a large. The price even made it a better deal. I also own a First Gear Kilimanjaro I use this in colder weather & feel the quality of this jacket is similar but without all the extra features & cooler in hot weather.

Pros: Very comfortable in warm weather, nice adjustability. A very good value for the money.
Cons: Front zipper can catch. Not enough interior storage pockets.

I've already worn this jacket several times on local rides. It is an excellent value for the money, and it looks good per my wife In the San Diego area it is a good weight and allows some good airflow through the mesh. I definitely see this being my go to warm weather jacket. I have not had a need to use the inner lining as of yet. I wish there were one more interior pocket to match the one provided. I find these useful on motorcycle jackets as typically one has a wallet and a mobile phone that needs to be accommodated. When I put both of these items in the pocket provided it is a rather tight fit, so one more would be a nice touch. But at the price point you are getting a very handsome looking jacket which in my case matches the color on my Kawa Ninja. Recommend a buy

Pros: large vents, lots of pockets, well made
Cons: zippers a bit stiff, cut a bit unusual

I got this jacket on sale for almost half price. Looking for an inexpensive 3 season jacket, and this fits the bill very nicely. It has plenty of pockets inside and out and is very well made. The zippers on the vents are kind of stiff, but they should loosen up with continued use. The body of the jacket is cut rather small, so I got a XXL to be able to put plenty of layers under it. The arms, however are cut large, so I may have to stitch a pleat in them to tighten them up near the wrists. On the whole a great buy.

Good jacket for little cash - Steve   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Breathes well, CE armor in the back a major plus
Cons: Sleeves a little too long

This is a good jacket for the money, and offers CE armor in the back which lots of more expensive jackets don't even have. The sleeves are a little too long on my size L jacket. I normally wear a size L -- the rest of the jacket fits great, but the sleeves could be an inch or so shorter and would still be plenty long. Not enough of an issue to be a deal-breaker though. Also know that since the sleeves don't have take-up tabs the fit is snug -- short-sleeved shirts may bunch up in the sleeves, which requires some fiddling to straighten out after putting the jacket on. The venting zippers are great, and the jacket remains comfortable into at least the mid-80s with 60 humidity. It hasn't been any hotter here yet, but so far as long as I'm moving it's very comfortable.Overall a nice jacket and an excellent value

    Pros: Fits great
    Cons: Neck area

This is a great jacket nice and cool, but the neck protection is a little high. If they lower that part this would be an awesome jacket. The price is right I would recommend this jacket Would give 5 stars if it wasn't for neck being to high.

Adequate - Greg   NJ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Water proof, good amour in arms, visible
    Cons: quite form fitting

Purchased for a 1700 mile trip in hot weather. Very good ventilation. High visibility in Yellow.People do seem to give me a buffer due to visibility.I am 6' 2. 220 pounds, 37 waist. 32 arms. Take a XL generally. Got a 2XL. Length and shoulders very good but VERY FORM FITTING in body. Hit torrential rain storm. Stayed dry. Liner worked well. Velcro closure to sleeves tend to loosen at times. No issue with collar around neck.Overall a good jacket.

    Pros: Ventilation, Protection, Price
    Cons: Runs a bit small

I got an XL and it runs a little tight. The back armor just did not feel right and I removed it. The elbow and shoulder armor felt a little off when walking, but worked out just fine when riding. I'll try the back armor again in a bit.The ventilation works extremely well.

Pros: It is a good looking coat, great elbow and back armor
    Cons: [None]

It is a nice looking coat with lots of armor built in. I took the rain liner out because I wanted to see how hot it would be this summer. It has not been very hot lately and it was cool while riding. Of course when I stopped it got warm but no more than any other jacket. It has not rained here for over a month so I have not been able to try out the rain protection. Maybe I can go stand in the shower and see how it is then report back I would recommend this coat to a friend. It does run on the small side so order one size larger. I got a small and it fit me just right.

    Pros: price
    Cons: sizing way off

Good jacket for the money. I'm 5' 11, 235 lbs. I wear a 2x with room to layer with most jackets. Ordered a 2x and could not zip it. Sent it back and got the 3x regular and it fits snug. 3x is as big as it comes so I am using it. I wish it was the long. At 18 to send it back I wish I got a name brand for more money. If you are smaller and can order a size or 2 larger you cant beat the price. Call them befor ordering they are good to work with.

Good Value - TS in TX   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good value for price, well ventilated
Cons: Fit is a bit tight

I bought this jacket for use in the hot Texas summer. I'm usually leery of brands I don't know,, but this has proved not to be an issue. First of all, the Scorcher seems to be well made - well sewn, good quality zippers. It comes with a waterproof liner which is frankly pretty flimsy. But I have all sorts of rain gear, so that's not an issue to me. A downside for some people could be the fit. I'm 5'9, thin, and wear a 40R jacket. I bought the medium and it is pretty snug on me. Not uncomfortably so, but definitely tight. The waist belt is adjustable and elastic waist panels help. But this thing is a bit tight across my belly, and I really don't have much of one. Frankly, even the sleeves are tight. Some people may need to buy one or two sizes larger. But if you do, be warned that the sleeves are pretty long, too. If you're a big guy with little stubby arms, this jacket is probably not for you.For the rest of us, the good news is that the Scorcher is a good hot-weather jacket. It ventilates well, shields from sun, and keeps me from sweating on a 100 day as long as the bike is moving. I haven't tested the liner, but again, I bought it strictly for hot, dry weather. Pay attention to the name - it's called the Scorcher. If you're looking for a multi-season jacket, you probably won't be happy with this. Additionally, the jacket seems to be nicely armored - elbows, shoulders, and a nice back plate. But it is still light weight and flexible. If you are a regular-fit person - that is, regular catalog sizes tend to work for you - and if you're looking for a lightweight summer riding jacket for less than a C-note, this could be your ticket.

    Pros: Lots of air flow.
    Cons: Long sleeves

Over all this jacket is very nice for the price. It has a super amount of options that come with it. I wish that the sleeves were a little bit shorter for me and that there were more water proof inner pockets. IT does make for a great summer jacket on those hot days when you don't want to ride gearless.

Cons: I had to buy a 3X and it just fit ..... must be made for smaller, thinner people...

Received the jackets in a short period of time. I normally wear an X-large size shirt or coat. An x-large in this jacket would never have fit me. I wish the size chart was different.... but a good deal and well satisfied.

Pros: Comfortable, keeps the air passing through, padding in the shoulders, back, and elbows.
Cons: Sizing is a little tight go for the next size up

I bought the high viz version of this jacket. I have been riding in hot humid weather and the jacket does what it is supposed to do. No one is going to miss seeing you on the street. The air passes through the jacket as you are moving and most of all it will provide you some protection if you are unfortunate enough to hit the road the hard way. Padding is substantial and the material is tough. There are two hand warmer pockets a vest pocket and a removableb water proof liner to keep you dry if need be. The price was right and I can't deny that the jacket performs as stated by Competition Accessories.

Great for the cost - Chris   GA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Seems well made, armor air moves through it
Cons: Runs small & colors on web site could be off a bit

I wore this jacket yesterday in the mid 80's here in Georgia with high humidity. I was in a variety of traffic conditions too. I don't know why I didn't buy a mesh jacket sooner. When stopped in traffic, I would get warm but didn't feel it was any warmer than just a t-shirt. But as soon as I started to move, there was COOL air across my arms and chest. I'm guessing because those parts were shaded by the jacket. Comfort was excellent. My arms didn't warm up from the radiating sunshine which right away made you feel cooler. The armor seems sturdy and well placed. But I do have a few cons. I got the high-vis green. The picture online is much brighter than the jacket I got. What I got is still hi-vis but just not as eye popping as the picture. I chose the green because the hi-vis yellow looked more like just yellow online. This jacket runs small. It's a bit snug but I can remedy that on my own But it is smaller than a my Fieldsheer jacket in the same size. I think if I ordered the XXL though the sleeves would've been too long and the elbow armor would've been too low. It was not snug enough to make me want to return it. One of my zippers on the exterior pockets as missing the corded zipper pull extender. Again not a real big deal but a quality control issue. Let me reiterate that none of my minor cons made me consider exchanging the jacket.I was cool and comfortable riding and have already recommended this jacket.

Good value warm weather jacket - Gary M   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good protection, better venting than non-mesh jackets
Cons: No hook and loop closure at the end of the sleeves

This jacket hits a lot of the issues I have for a warm weather jacket. My mesh jacket has no protection other than padding in the shoulder, elbow, and back. This jacket has real armor that will protect in the case of a crash, god forbid. The venting is not as good as a mesh jacket. However, they line up with the wind pattern coming off my adventure-tourer windshield and provides pretty good venting. The only real complaint I have is the end of the sleeves has no way to tighten down to my wrist. I'm overweight so the sleeves are too long. There should be a hook-and-loop closure at the end of the sleeve to keep the sleeve from going over my hand. I think I can fix this with a heavy duty rubber band. Given all the nice features of the jacket, this is not a big problem.

Nice Jacket - WesJ   SC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Very cool
Cons: A little itchy in the elbows

This is my 2nd mesh jacket. The other is a fieldsheer. Rode in this jacket yesterday and it had great airflow in the arms, seemed good in the torso. The fabric is not exceptionally stiff, but it's just fine. I did notice a little flapping in the wind on the top of one shoulder and a little on my ribs. Not bad at all, but just caught a glimpse in the mirror.I like the liner of this jacket much better than my field sheer jacket. The FS jacket's liner was rubbery on both sides making it stick to my arms. This one is plain nylon on the inside and rubbery on the outside. This means I can take the jacket off wo ripping the sleeves out due to sweat. All pockets are waterproofed, even the cell phone pocket.Absolutely glad I got this one. On a side note, I got it at the store in person. The sales guy was very helpful while I was looking at rain suits. Knew his products and knew what he had in stock.

Arm length - stwil   TN Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: Quality seemed good
Cons: Arm length way too long

I am usually between a small and a medium in jackets. I ordered a medium because of other reviews stating this jacket ran small. The medium I'm 5' 8 fit pretty good in the chest and waste and I liked the look of the jacket. The problem was with the arm fit and length. A couple of snaps on the arm would help and I suggest the manufacturer consider this. The length of the arms is just too long to deal with.Because of this I can't recommend this jacket. I would like to try the Shadow brand for other jackets in the future but only if it's in a retail store where I can try on before purchasing. With that said I complement Competition Accessories for honoring their return policy. Although sending anything back is time consuming, they did credit my account as stated in their policy.

Pros: decent product if cost is the only factor
Cons: sizes are tight interior kind of flimsy

Living out in AZ wanted a lightweight mesh jacket I am mid 40's and 6'1, 240 lbs, have a34 inch waist and work out regularly so ordered a 2XL, like I had on a prev sliders jacket I like them a bit loose, given the AZ heat. yes even in OctNov it is still hotThis jacket wears tight, like body armor. Not good for this climate. Also given my dimensions, the 2xl ran too tight-- particularly around my arms and shoulder. Also felt like the jacket interior would rip too easily. Given my sliders jacket fit well, even a bit loose and was also 2xl, just thought it was made better. It also appearred that interior would rip easily if constant removal of armor was required. This is an honest opinion. If cost is the only consideration, than I would recommend. Also the pictures do not reflect the true vibrance of the colors. I had purchased the yellow jacket and believe me-- it is vivid. It is not a dull yellow. It is quite fluorescent, which I like.

Does what it should. - MMStingray   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Color, weight, features
    Cons: Construction

For what these are being sold for, I wasn't expecting anything world class. The first thing I noticed was the front zipper a quality YKK didn't line up, so it takes a lot of effort to zip it up. But my wife's a tailor, and I know replacing it would be no big deal, so I didn't bother exchanging it. The edges and seams are kinda sloppy, but again, I wasn't expecting Hein Gericke fit and finish. It's comfy and bright got yellow, and I'm plenty satisfied with it. I will say that I've had a couple different mesh jackets over the years, and this is the first to ever fit me like the sizing suggests it should. I'm 5'11, my chest is between 38 and 40, and not particularly broad-shouldered. This fits me perfectly.

Jacket Sizing Off - Geekemeritus   MO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
Cons: Sizing is a bit off

I ordered the jacket to use with the LD Comfort shirt. If you are not familiar with LDC, it is a two layer t-shirt that when wet, produces considerable evaporative cooling with controlled ventilation of the outer jacket layer. Mesh jackets wont work. The vents in this jacket allow you to control just the right amount of airflow to maximize the cooling time. It has not been warm enough here for a proper test, but appears like it will do the trick.I wear a 46 regular suit unaltered, so I ordered the XL, but discovered it was slightly loose and the sleeves came to my palm. I replaced it with a large, and the shoulders are a bit tight, the waist is fine, but the sleeves are still too long. I will probably have to take it to the tailor to fix the problem. If the sleeves fit it would be perfect.

You get what you pay for - Crackerrider   GA Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: Good material, very visible
Cons: Horrible chafing pads, too loose around cuff, too large for intended size

It seemed like a good deal. It has many features you can't find in a sub 100 jacket. However, after trying on the jacket, I had to take the back and shoulder pads out. The were most uncomfortable and protruding. I wear and ordered a size large. The jacket fit like a cross between X-Large and nearly X-Large. It was too big around the waist and chest. The sleeves have a zip up cuff, but the cuff is still way too big and I have big arms and wrists. I sent it back and got an Olympia Renegade Jacket, size Large. Love it, love it, love it. It fits great. The pads are great. The quality is super. So in conclusion, money and brand names are really hard to beat.

Terribly Disappointed - John   Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: NONE
Cons: The fit of this jacket is bizarre to say the least

My jacket arrived yesterday. When I tried it on, I could hardly get my arms in because it was so tight. I double checked the size tag, but it was correct. After I removed the liner, I managed to squeeze my arms in, but the sleeve length hung well below my fingertips and I wear a 35 shirt sleeve length. Once I finally got my arms in the jacket, the chest midsection area was at least 8-10 inches too small and I couldn't begin to think about zipping it up.I ordered my normal correct size, but because the fit was so very bad.

Scorcher Mesh Jacket - J. Cole   CA Recommended by Reviewer: No
Pros: Nice fit, well proportioned, sturdy material, good colors
Cons: Collar opening is too small for rest of jacket sizing, collar should be different style

I bought the XL size as advised, as I usually wear a size L. The jacket fit perfectly in regard to sleeve length, chest size, sleeve circumference room for your biceps, not skin tight, but the collar closure could not be fastened. The collar size on an XL jacket should be proportioned to fit the neck of an XL person, not a pencil neck. And mesh jackets usually do not have mandarin collars. There is usually no collar to allow for free flow of air and free movement to the wearer. When I put on the jacket I could not zip it all the way and I could not secure the closure, and the collar restricted my neck movement and snagged my beard stubble. I returned the jacket just because of the neck size restrictions. If not for the poor design of the collar you have a winning jacket for 89.99 and a happy customer.
