Good jacket, great price - Robb   UT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Great price, great ventilation
    Cons: Left-hand zip

This is an attractive jacket that fits well and is cool enough as long as you're moving. My only complaint is that the zipper zips up with the left hand instead of the right, unlike most American men's jackets. It's not a deal breaker, but it's also not intuitive every time I put it on or take it off. Still, for the price paid, I'm glad I bought it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cool mesh jacket at a great price.

Nice, Low Cost protection - JSommer   ME Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Low Cost, Light, Comfortable
    Cons: None

This is an excellent jacket for summer. Now there is no excuse when it gets hot...you can have comfort and protection. I recently crashed and didn't have a scratch. I was really glad that I was wearing the jacket.

VERY NICE JACKET - NICK   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: price, ce armor, the fit
    Cons: liner

I went on a 200 mile ride today with my hi-vis shadow jacket about 80 degress with a little rain. fit was very nice I wear a large so I got a xl perfect arms were not baggy or too long just right im 5 11 200lbs. so you can compare.the rain and wind liner worked just fine but after it stopped raining and got a little warm the liner was sticking to my arm, would be nice if they had just mesh in the inside part of the liner arm area to prevent this. with out the liner a ton of air was flowing. mine came with ce back armor I thought it was going to be a foam pad not sure how this jacket will hold up in a accident I think theres just too much mesh take a look at the back of the jacket

Nice Jacket - Mr. Twister   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Good price,materials and workmanship.
    Cons: None

The Scorcher jacket is a great value. Workmanship and materials are as good as jackets costing more than twice as much. Air flow through the mesh on a hot day seems good, but you're still going to get hot when you stop moving..I have a 33 inch waist and usually wear a medium and that's what fits me in the Scorcher. The body is just a little looser than I would like, but not so loose as to be a problem. I guess they made it with some room for layers underneath, but I'm usually only wearing a T-shirt. When the liner is in it takes up some of that room too. I like the velcro adjusters at the waist. The arms are a snug fit, which means no flapping in the wind and they are long enough to cover even a short summer glove. The description says there are sleeve take-ups. There are none, but you don't need them with this jacket. The armor in the shoulders and elbows is well placed and comfortable. The back armor, though a bit stiff, is of much higher quality than what came with my more expensive Tourmaster Transition 3 jacket.I haven't had a chance to try the wind and waterproof liner yet.

Great Mesh Jacket - vStarRider   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great Fit, True to Size, Comfortable
    Cons: Sleeves a little long

Just got this jacket rode about 200 mi in hot 95 degree weather. Very comfortable and kept me cool even while taking a break the first thing I do when stopped is shed the jacket. No noticeable sweat. Easy to adjust for my torso. Great jacket, highly recommend. Only complain was that the sleeves were a little too long, came down to mid-hand. I wear a Medium.

Purchased March 2014Really a well made jacket for this price point. Liking the removable water resist liner. Having the armor does not interfere with movement. Will need full use of the vents here in central Florida coming up, will add to my comments after a few warmer rides Paired with Shadow Speed Pro 2 gloves, very pleased. Ride safe...

Best value jacket I've seen yet - Hunter   MI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Lots of pockets, nicely built
    Cons: a bit heavy

Lots of nice touches on this jacket plenty of pockets, waterproof zippers, pockets have waterproof liners, solid elbow, shoulder & back armor, and the quilted removable liner is will certainly be warm in cold weather. This is a jacket I'll have with me while touring for bad weather, and will use it for my cold weather Northern Michigan rides in early Spring and late Fall. Re sizing, I'm 5'10, 210 w 36 waist, normally wear large shirts & jackets, but ordered XL and glad I did The large would have been pretty tight. This jacket was bought at a sale price, under 100, seems to be worth every penny - and then some.

Very Pleased - LT   OR Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Quality leather and stitching. The protective paneling, inserts and fit were also better than expected.
Cons: Need a decoder ring to figure out the correct sizing - as provided by the previous reviews.

After reading all of the reviews, I decided to purchase this leather jacket in hopes that the advertisement personal testimonials would not disappoint. Reading that the sizing runs small, I ordered 3 sizes greater than actual ie. 50 instead of 47 and in turn, I was pleasantly surprised that the fit was spot on. At 6' and 205lbs, I am a little leggy with long arms and the jacket arm length were perfect. On top of that, the parcel was well packed and arrived a day sooner than expected. Thank you Compacc

Very Nice Jacket - Live to Ride - Ride to Live   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Nice Nice Nice.... all around Nice
    Cons: Runs a size small

A very nice jacket. Super fast delivery. Ordered on Monday late at night, arrived on Thursday morning. I had a question beforehand so I called the 800 # a very friendly girl was glad to help me out. The jacket itself runs a size smaller than you usually wear thanks to others who left feedback so I ordered a size larger. I normally wear a large so I ordered an XL and it fits perfectly. I had just fired up my bike for a ride when FedEx walked down my driveway. Talk about perfect timing. I had some really cool HD patches I ordered sewn on the back for a custom look. Air flows nicely with the venting zippers open, I actually stopped and removed the zip out liner when it got too warm and stashed it in the luggage bag. Not a cheap feel either. its actually got some weight to it even with out the armor but leave it in DRESS FOR THE SLIDE.... NOT THE RIDE

Cons: back can get a little sweaty on warm days.

Nicely made. Stylish. Jacket zips to my pants. Is very comfortable except in very hot SC summers then nothing is really comfortable except air conditioning Arms have a fabric strip that lets air in. It has a short liner that makes it comfortable down to about 40.

Pros: Excellent value. Nice, durable jacket.
    Cons: None

Nice, heavy-duty jacket. One nice feature is the color coded loops at the cuffs of the liner. This makes re-installing the liner much easier. This is a heavy jacket. As other reviewers have said, the size is a little snug. If you're on the edge between sizes, I would definitely choose the larger size.Superb value and the shipping could not have been any faster.

Ive been wearing this jacket for half a year now and like it more each time. I really like the comfort, style, and knowing it has good protection for the street. It breathes well so summer and spring time riding in NC with this jacket is actually just fine. Fall season riding with this jacket is good as well. This may be one of my best motorcycle apparel purchases ever. I would recommend this to anyone

Great bargain - DV   NM Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Good quality leather
Cons: None that I can think of

I have owned a lot of motorcycle jackets over the last 20 years, and I am hard pressed to see a big difference between the quality of this jacket and those I have owned from Vanson, Fieldsheer and AGV that cost more than twice as much. Sure, the leather may be a bit stiffer, but some leather lotion can cure that easily. I am 5'10' and weigh 160 lbs and usually wear a 40 chest size, but I ordered a 42 and am glad I did, because the fit is on the snug side.

You cannot beat the price on this, if I had one thing to say, it is that it runs a little small, I usually wear a 44 or so, but the 46 was a little tight, I could zip it up but I like my jackets a little loose. For reference, I am about 5'10 and 190 lbs. with big shoulders

best deal - FistopherBrolumbus   RI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Looks as good as jackets that are in the 350 range, inexpensive, real leather
Cons: during the break-in period, the leather can rub your neck a bit but that goes away in a couple weeks of wear.

Great jacket The sizing seems is if it may run a bit small, but that was a good thing for me I bought a 42, which was the smallest size available when i ordered I usually wear a 36 or a 38 in a suit jacket so i was expecting to be swimming in this thing, but it actually fits quite well I am about 5'9 and very skinny.- I have worn this on 85 degree days and been comfortable, I have also ridden in the upper 30's and been comfortable- Fairly water resistant for leather- rode about 40 miles today in onoff rain and made it to where I was going basically dry- liner is easy to zip inout- I think you can zip it into pants and make it a suit, but i never tried.

Scorcher is actually cool - CWG   RI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Value, air flow, quality of construction
    Cons: weight

This is a terrific hot weather jacket for the money. The air flows freely through it. I have used it on a few pretty muggy days in the 80's, but not had a chance for those 90 plus humid days we get here in the Northeast yet. I can already tell that it will be much cooler than my Jet vented jacket and between the two of them, I should have a perfect jacket for the three season riding we do here. It is much heavier than you expect when you heft it, but the weight carries well. The back pad is great to have there, but you can tell it's going to get hot in the middle of your back when it's scorching out. I'd rather have the protection.

Great quality - Jack Liu   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Excellent quality
Cons: arms a bit long, too much room at elbow

I just received this jacket, and I love it, you can tell from out of the box that this is something made from good quality. The mesh materials are excellent, they are sturdy while at the same time, if you take off the lnner water proof liners, the venting is excellent. There is plenty of coverage with CE armor at shoulders, elbows, and hard back foam. The best thing about this jacket is the option of hi-viz selection, I can't believe how bright this thing looks in the shadows even. This will be very helpful in keep the rider safe, as well as not gathering much heat under the sun.I am 5'10, 185lb, and I ordered size L, the chest fits me just right, however I feel like the arm is a bit too long for me. Another potential problem i see is that there is too much room on the arm, especially the elbow area, the CE elbow armor have too much room moving around, I'm afraid that in the event of crash, they may not stay in place to protect the riders. But this is not a big deal, because I'm going to stitch the fabrics a bit on the arm to make them tighter.Overall, high recommend, I got this when it was cheap at 79.99, but even at 100 I still think this is great value.

Worth every penny - lowflyingowl   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Well-made, flows lots of air, highly visible
    Cons: None yet

Got this to replace an old Fieldsheer mesh. The Scorcher is well-made, flows a ton of air. The collar is more comfortable than the old Fieldsheer. The cut is a closer fit, which I like. I've put 5000 miles on it and it still fits and looks great except for the bugs. One thing - the back pad it comes with is not CE rated - just a thin foam pad. I used the one from my old jacket -- a little heavier but better protection. this jacket includes a rain-proof inner liner which I promptly threw out --I use a tourmaster Sentinel rain jacket OVER the Scorcher which works great. Makes no sense to have a rain proof barrier under the jacket IN the fall, I'll add a down or heated vest underneath to keep warm. Well worth the fantastic price

I just got the jacket and find no faults. It does run small -- I am 175 lbs41L and the XL with liner installed is snug. So be advised. Looks sturdy and well constructed and it is exactly what I wanted at far less than the 'name' brands. Assuming that it holds up, I would give it five stars because it is an excellent value.

I ordered a size larger than I normally wear and fits snug. One small defect, the zipper pull on the left sleeve was missing the cord. I have the yellow and black jacket and has great visibility. Remove the rain liner and plenty of air flow to keep me cool on those hot days. The liner is easy to remove and install. The color coded tabs help to line up the sleeves. The armor in the elbows and shoulders is solid and the extra abrasion on the elbow area is durable. I hope I don't have to test it out.

Pros: Visibility, Comfort, Protection, Air flow, Pricing

Bought this jacket for my spouse. She began riding after 3 months of recovery from a t-bone side impact of a car due it's sudden left hand, no blinker turn and they didn't SEE her.Her Victory Vegas was totaled and she suffered a broken arm, bruised ribs and other lesser injuries after flying over the car. She wanted a summer jacket that was visible, yet stylish and comfortable. After doing some research I decided on this jacket. It has proven to be all the descriptors mentioned. The spouse is not only comfortable in the jacket, but cmfortable on the bike knowing there is the added visibility it provides... She rides again.

Excellent jacket - dblair11   ND Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Lightweight, good armor, breathes well
Cons: Liners felt a little sticky to me

I got this jacket in last week and took it for a couple hundred mile trip over the weekend. I have to say it performed better than expected. I bought it for the cooling it can provide I have the shadow scorcher pants and they are awesome, so I bought the jacket as well to replace my aging castle that was not very cool. Well the way it turned out the first day out was a little cooler than anticipated, so I put the liner in and I was very comfortable for warmth with the liner in. The next day was warmer and the liner came out and it was very cool. The sizing does seem a little on the small side, a little more room in the stomach area would help, but so would dropping a few of the excess pounds I have. All in all I can't recommend this jacket enough. If you're looking for a good summer jacket you can't beat this price and feature set

I also bought the mesh pants and between the jacket, rain liner and pants there are 14 pocktes.Rode home the other day in a rainstorm and used the liner. Stayed dry the whoe way home. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay cool while riding, yet still be protected.

This summer my heavy armoured leather jacket was cooking me here in the land of howdy. This scorcher armoured mesh jacket in flouresent yellow was just what I needed. It has full armour and about a quarter of the weight of my leather one. I easily removed the handy rain liner and was amazed when I rode. It was so much cooler. Things do heat up a bit when stopped, but as long as I am moving I am cool. The fit is snug, so if you are planning on wearing layers underneath the jacket I would get a size larger than normal. But for me the snugness is perfect. I like the feel that the armour will stay where needed if needed. If I need another layer I will just replace the rainliner and it will be a two season jacket.I did need to add zipper pulls for use with gloves, because for me its ATGATT.

When I was selecting the size of jacket to buy, I went by how I like my shirts to fit, no by the sizing charts. According to the chart, I should've gotten a large, not and extra large tall. The sleeve's are a bit long for my taste, but I can deal with it. If you are considering on buying this jacket, please go by what the sizing chart says.

Very well made jacket for the price advertised. I ordered next size up large due to other reviews. It was a good decision, fitted just right for me. Minor wish on my part would be some form of mid-sleeve cinch. The jacket otherwise is a great buy. I recommend it.

No-nonsense, right stuff jacket. - SDGR   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Heavy duty, hi vis is HIGHLY VISIBLE, added length at wrists a plus.
Cons: Could be a touch longer around the waist, lacks a belt around waist, sleeves don't tighten.

For 100 USD this isn't Lewis Leathers and it's not Savile Row, boys. However for a no-nonsense, high utility, high visibility everyday jacket it looks every bit the part. The armor is quality, the leather patches are in all the right spots, and the vents are more than adequate to get decent ventilation even in summer. The hi vis yellow goes BANG louder than bombs and I'd recommend it if you want to be SEEN. Although the pictures wouldn't seem to say so, the yellow used on the jacket does match the yellow on the Shadow Speed Pro 2 gloves. The sleeves are a touch longer than usual but I like it, because they can be tucked into gloves even if the gloves aren't long gauntlets. There are no belts or tightening devices, so what you get is what you get as far as midsection and sleeve widths go though so keep that in mind. Not a problem for me. I got 2XL. 6 ft, 230 lbs, 49 in chest, 18.5 in neck. Fits well though could be a bit tighter around the midsection. Doesn't ride up though. Firmly recommended.

Great Value - BonusCup   NJ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Comfortable, Sturdy, Well-vented, Features for cost, No obnoxious logos
Cons: Neck closure is a little uncomfortable

This is a simple, well-made jacket at an entry-level price. The elbow and shoulder armor seems adequate. Even includes a foam back protector. I have the non-perforated version and have ridden in temperatures up into the 90s and was still comfortable with all the vents open. My bike has no wind protection, FWIW. The liner is very warm and includes a non zippered pocket. The jacket itself has a zippered interior pocket. The leather makes this jacket appear like ones that sit at a much higher price point. The only minor complaint I have is that the velcro closure on the neck sometimes is a little uncomfortable - it also doesn't cover the zipper. Not a deal breaker, just a very minor annoyance on occasion. Fitment is a very snug, which is what I was looking for. I am fairly slender - 5'11, 158 and the 42 fits me well. The waist adjustments give you a little wiggle room if need be. One of the best parts is that you don't feel like a walking billboard. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be nice to have some more high-vis options available, but for a simple, understated leather jacket that should offer decent protection this jacket is hard to beat.

Pikes Peak Jacet a winner - FJR Rider   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Perfect fit, armor good quality and in the right place while riding. Removable liner blocks wind in cool riding and is waterproof., wo liner the jacket is cool and comfortable in weather up to low 80's. A great jacket for an especially good price
Cons: Liner a bit of a struggle to install, and pretty warm in warm weather rain.

I needed a substitute for my summer air Jacket The Shadow with the bright yellow Hi Viz color for visibility seemed a perfect choice plus a fair price. After ordering it arrived within 2 days...amazing and the fit was perfect. Good armor and good placement of that armor it all sits in the proper place while riding. Living in the NE this fits the bill for cool to cold mornings and evenings and cool enough to be fairly comfortable up to the mid 80's. It' is nicely made and the HI Viz color is perfect for visibility Great fit, Large Tall I'm 6'2' and 190lbs, the sleeves a bit long but that's perfect for a change. Pros: Style, function and fit.
    Cons: None, so far

I really like this jacket. I initially purchased this jacket because it was on sale, and also for the high visibility safety factor. The jacket is true to fit. There are several adjustment straps on the jacket, to customize the fit for the rider. This jacket is very comfortable to wear, and it does not feel bulky when I am riding my motorcycle. The numerous and various type of pockets on this jacket are a very nice feature. The jacket zippers are of good quality too. I have not used the jacket in rainy conditions yet. The zippers are designed with weather flaps to block wind and repel rain. The light color is prone to getting dirty easy, especially when bugs are hit at high speeds.

Pros: Great fit, price, and versatility
    Cons: Runs small

I ordered this as a warm weather jacket, and was also looking for a hi-visibility jacket with protection. This jacket fits the bill, and the price is right. It is comfortable and has plenty of ventilation with the mesh fabric. It features a liner that will block wind and water, and will keep you relatively warm in a cool morning or early evening. The only drawback is that it runs small. I normally wear a large 44 chest and had ordered an XL, just in case, since I'd heard they ran small. Well, even the XL was tight fitting and limited my movement, so I exchanged it for an XXL which fits just right.

Wow. Where do I start. The Shadow Air Pro Mesh compares very well with my Transition2. Both have some heft to them, like a good leather jacket would, and that means more stuff to scrape off before your skin gets there. This jacket has pockets where there should be, including a small pocket at the left breast for the cellular type phones.
The details on the Shadow Air Pro-Mesh are what seals the bargain deal, collar does not chafe, sleeve take-ups make sense, armor is best I've seen!
My riding buddy said,"I've seen that coat before."
But he thought it was my other one.
The Shadow Air Pro Mesh is just as well thought out as my other Touring-type jacket, but meshed out for hot weather.

For the money, are you kidding me Great deal - Petethepup   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Price, price, quality, breathable
Cons: Some details an issue or lacking

The good far, far outweighs the bad for this jacket. The good very breathable. I have to disagree to some extent with comments that the pockets, etc., reduce airflow. OK, it's not a single layer jacket, but on my naked BMW it cools very well. The rain liner works - though I wouldn't hook the 7 loops and 2 zippers for a rain shower. Just put it on under the jacket. Bright I bought the orange & it is so bright, I have new orange reflections off the instrument panel & mirrors If a car driver misses seeing it, he or she should have a white cane. The bad - not so much in order 1. the lining in the sleeves is a little undocked, so, if I'm wet or wearing a watch, when I put on the jacket, the sleeve liner wants to come out the cuff. 2. The Velcro on the cuffs needs a longer tab so it will stay put in an open configuration. 3. The Velcro tab at the neck is nearly useless. I am considering removing it. None of these criticisms is a deal killer, just that they are there. I'm 5'11 185lb, 34-35 sleeve in dress shirt, size 43 suit jacket. The large size fits well for a summer jacket. A tiny bit short in the sleeve, but for summer, it's good to have the sleeve on the shorter side. It's not short like I have to pull the sleeve down short.

Good jacket for little cash - Steve   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Breathes well, CE armor in the back a major plus
Cons: Sleeves a little too long

This is a good jacket for the money, and offers CE armor in the back which lots of more expensive jackets don't even have. The sleeves are a little too long on my size L jacket. I normally wear a size L -- the rest of the jacket fits great, but the sleeves could be an inch or so shorter and would still be plenty long. Not enough of an issue to be a deal-breaker though. Also know that since the sleeves don't have take-up tabs the fit is snug -- short-sleeved shirts may bunch up in the sleeves, which requires some fiddling to straighten out after putting the jacket on. The venting zippers are great, and the jacket remains comfortable into at least the mid-80s with 60 humidity. It hasn't been any hotter here yet, but so far as long as I'm moving it's very comfortable.Overall a nice jacket and an excellent value

Pros: Feels like it has good protection. Looks nice and stylish. Cool when moving.
Cons: neck velcro is not comfortable and tends to ride up on shorter riders.

The jacket perforated version is cool enough to ride in the hot summer. Can feel the heat build up when stopped. I ride in 80 - 100 degree weather in the south. I found that the neck strap irritated me and tend to fold it back inside the jacket when riding. I am thinking of cutting it off and believe this would improve the feel. I also tend to ride with the top eight inches of the zipper down in the summer to allow more air movement. The sleeves are about right length when on the bike in riding position but long when off the bike. My short gloves work well with the length. I have ridden in 60 degrees with the liner in but still chilly for me. Lots of air movement even with liner. I added an outer shell rain jacket over the leather jacket and it was very comfortable. I opted for a winter riding jacket and plan to use this one in the summer. Over all I am pleased with the jacket. Great jacket for the money. Looks cool also.

Great deal for 100 on sale - mxm64   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good price, decent build quality, warm liner, good features for the price.
Cons: Mesh lining tears easily, poor ventilation, elbow armor does not stay in place.

Over all very satisfied with the Shadow Zurich Jacket and brand for the price and quality. Only had the jacket for a month though, so time will tell how wear is. Just yesterday the inner mesh lining tore around the arm with the insulated liner removed. Kind of disappointed about that failure already. - Shoulder vents are kind of useless if you actually need them when it gets warm out. Insulated liner though is very warm when needed on cold mornings. I haven't used it in a heavy rain yet, but in light rain I stayed dry. For 100 on sale, still can't beat it though for a rainproof 34 jacket

Pros: Really nice Jacket with thick leather and good quality zippers
    Cons: Sizing is way off

I normally wear a size 44 but read the reviews and ordered a 46. I had to return the first jacket at my cost because it was still way to small. The new 48 size jacket is still snug, but if I went any bigger the arms would be to long. The cuff straps aren't that great and the elbow protection is small and rolls inside the sleeves. If I had paid 300 for the Jacket I would send it back, but for 120 bucks its well worth it.Overall, it is a great Jacket for the price....

My last jacket was a textile coat that was light and thin. This Maelstorm leather is much heavier to even pick up and it fits closely. I don't leave this on the bike if I go into a store for a minute, because it allseems like it would be worth stealing vs. my prior jacket. This is a real motorcycle jacket.

It is a nice looking coat with lots of armor built in. I took the rain liner out because I wanted to see how hot it would be this summer. It has not been very hot lately and it was cool while riding. Of course when I stopped it got warm but no more than any other jacket. It has not rained here for over a month so I have not been able to try out the rain protection. Maybe I can go stand in the shower and see how it is then report back I would recommend this coat to a friend. It does run on the small side so order one size larger. I got a small and it fit me just right.

This jacket was purchased to replace a jacket that was damaged after a fall. Low speed, sand on the road. It doesn't breathe as well as the other jacket, but the material is heavier & the denser material on the impact areas is a plus. Like the adjustability in the arms & LOTS of pockets. Also appreciate the double zipper. Makes it nice to unzip the bottom on a 34 length jacket.

Good fit, great price - Bigred   MI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: well made, good fit
Cons: runs small, bulky back pad

I originally ordered the Sliders 2 All-Weather Mesh jacket but returned it. I was not happy with the fit and quality. The shoulder armor didn't come all the way over my shoulder, the back pad was very bulky and the armor pockets were not sewn properly. I decided to give the Shadow Air Pro Mesh a try and am very happy that I did so. Not only was it on sale but I really like several things about it.Construction seems to be a good heavy mesh with lots of reinforcement in the critical areas of elbows, shoulders and back. Solid stitching all around. One odd thing is the zippers have the pulls on the left side like a women's garment.Fit I am 6'4' 175 lbs. - slender. The large fits well. It is a little snug with the liner in but not uncomfortable. The sleeves are okay for me 33 length. The two way zipper is a must for this jacket.Features Lots of pockets - some waterproof. Sleeve take ups are very handy when wearing just a tee shirt to keep armor in place. The waterproof liner actually has two layers and I suspect will be very warm even in late fall cool weather. The back pad is pretty stiff and bulky, but with the money I saved on the jacket I will order a good quality flexible pad such as the Forcefield Superlite. This is a great jacket that compares with other mesh jackets costing over a 180.

Good Value - TS in TX   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good value for price, well ventilated
Cons: Fit is a bit tight

I bought this jacket for use in the hot Texas summer. I'm usually leery of brands I don't know,, but this has proved not to be an issue. First of all, the Scorcher seems to be well made - well sewn, good quality zippers. It comes with a waterproof liner which is frankly pretty flimsy. But I have all sorts of rain gear, so that's not an issue to me. A downside for some people could be the fit. I'm 5'9, thin, and wear a 40R jacket. I bought the medium and it is pretty snug on me. Not uncomfortably so, but definitely tight. The waist belt is adjustable and elastic waist panels help. But this thing is a bit tight across my belly, and I really don't have much of one. Frankly, even the sleeves are tight. Some people may need to buy one or two sizes larger. But if you do, be warned that the sleeves are pretty long, too. If you're a big guy with little stubby arms, this jacket is probably not for you.For the rest of us, the good news is that the Scorcher is a good hot-weather jacket. It ventilates well, shields from sun, and keeps me from sweating on a 100 day as long as the bike is moving. I haven't tested the liner, but again, I bought it strictly for hot, dry weather. Pay attention to the name - it's called the Scorcher. If you're looking for a multi-season jacket, you probably won't be happy with this. Additionally, the jacket seems to be nicely armored - elbows, shoulders, and a nice back plate. But it is still light weight and flexible. If you are a regular-fit person - that is, regular catalog sizes tend to work for you - and if you're looking for a lightweight summer riding jacket for less than a C-note, this could be your ticket.

Pros: Great value, Lots of airflow
    Cons: Runs a little small.

We looked at mesh jackets at a bike shop. 180. Here is a great price on a great item. We ordered on a Friday and they arrived on a Tuesday with free standard shipping. I wore it back to work at lunch and was amazed at how much air flows through. I am rather warm blooded so I need this. My wife and I rode for 200miles yesterday. It was in the low to mid 80's and I was perfectly comfortable wearing the jacket.Sizing runs a little small. I usually wear an XL so that is what I bought. I have a couple pounds to lose. So it should be a good fit. Just as an FYI, 43 Chest, 44 at my belly button, 44 around my butt, and I wear a 36 waste. Hope this helps with your sizing.Again, great jacket at a great price.

Summary great value - Pastor Scott   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Color selection, features, price
    Cons: Ventilation

Having ridden in this jacket for a while now, there's not many surprises to be found. The color selection, number of features, and overall construction are on par with jackets costing several dollars more. The only con I've found is it's ventilation. Unlike it's higher priced cousins, the vents are only moderately effective on warm days. If the sun is going to be shining, and temps are heading north of 70F, be prepared to unzip the front a bit. However, it has done a fantastic job in everything else the Olympic Peninsula has thrown at it, including a couple rides in genuine rain. So what if it's not a great everything jacket for the money I saved, I can easily afford to by a dedicated mesh jacket. And still put a lot of gas into my Vulcan's tank.

Pros: Comfortable, keeps the air passing through, padding in the shoulders, back, and elbows.
Cons: Sizing is a little tight go for the next size up

I bought the high viz version of this jacket. I have been riding in hot humid weather and the jacket does what it is supposed to do. No one is going to miss seeing you on the street. The air passes through the jacket as you are moving and most of all it will provide you some protection if you are unfortunate enough to hit the road the hard way. Padding is substantial and the material is tough. There are two hand warmer pockets a vest pocket and a removableb water proof liner to keep you dry if need be. The price was right and I can't deny that the jacket performs as stated by Competition Accessories.

Great for the cost - Chris   GA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Seems well made, armor air moves through it
Cons: Runs small & colors on web site could be off a bit

I wore this jacket yesterday in the mid 80's here in Georgia with high humidity. I was in a variety of traffic conditions too. I don't know why I didn't buy a mesh jacket sooner. When stopped in traffic, I would get warm but didn't feel it was any warmer than just a t-shirt. But as soon as I started to move, there was COOL air across my arms and chest. I'm guessing because those parts were shaded by the jacket. Comfort was excellent. My arms didn't warm up from the radiating sunshine which right away made you feel cooler. The armor seems sturdy and well placed. But I do have a few cons. I got the high-vis green. The picture online is much brighter than the jacket I got. What I got is still hi-vis but just not as eye popping as the picture. I chose the green because the hi-vis yellow looked more like just yellow online. This jacket runs small. It's a bit snug but I can remedy that on my own But it is smaller than a my Fieldsheer jacket in the same size. I think if I ordered the XXL though the sleeves would've been too long and the elbow armor would've been too low. It was not snug enough to make me want to return it. One of my zippers on the exterior pockets as missing the corded zipper pull extender. Again not a real big deal but a quality control issue. Let me reiterate that none of my minor cons made me consider exchanging the jacket.I was cool and comfortable riding and have already recommended this jacket.

I originally ordered a 44 eventhough I normally wear a 42 or large. I tried it on when it arrived and couldn't zip it at all, took out the liner and I was barely able to close it while exhaling. Now I'm 5'10 and 180 pounds but the arms were too short also.I was intending to get a refund but called up and spoke to CS, we decided to try a size 48, two sizes larger. Well it came in today and fits nicely, the arms are just long enough and I can zip it up with the liner in. Unfortunately it is in the nineties today and even a mesh is hot to wear. I do like the look and it feels like a much more expensive jacket. I can't wait for cooler weather to really try it out.

Good value warm weather jacket - Gary M   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good protection, better venting than non-mesh jackets
Cons: No hook and loop closure at the end of the sleeves

This jacket hits a lot of the issues I have for a warm weather jacket. My mesh jacket has no protection other than padding in the shoulder, elbow, and back. This jacket has real armor that will protect in the case of a crash, god forbid. The venting is not as good as a mesh jacket. However, they line up with the wind pattern coming off my adventure-tourer windshield and provides pretty good venting. The only real complaint I have is the end of the sleeves has no way to tighten down to my wrist. I'm overweight so the sleeves are too long. There should be a hook-and-loop closure at the end of the sleeve to keep the sleeve from going over my hand. I think I can fix this with a heavy duty rubber band. Given all the nice features of the jacket, this is not a big problem.

Great jacket. I am 5'11 and 220 lbs and a gym rat, so more shoulders, arms and chest than belly. Was worried about an XL being too small, but it fits nicely even with the liner. I think the XXL would have been too large around the waist. This replaces a Tourmaster jacket I have had for almost 10 years and this jacket is significantly heavier, but not necessarily warmer. I wear a fleece jacket instead of the liner because it sticks up slightly higher than the collar and closes the air gap better. Collar is a bit on the rough side, but I expect it to get better as it is broken in.I would definitely recommend.

Mesh is good and seems to be suited well for warm hot weather. Great back pad for protection, could possibly cause heat to trap in your back in hot weather though. Nice removable liner that seems like it could be rain resistant. For the money this is a great jacket. Go up a size though, I had to return the L for an XL. I'm 5' 11 180 and needed an XL. I am very happy with the jacket so far. I have not given it a good test in the rain, but from the looks of it, I suspect it will be very waterproof. Great value with quality and features of jackets that are twice as much cost.I would buy one size larger, I think. I am 6-2 and 250lbs. In shirts and casual jackets I usually wear XXL or XL depending on brandfit etc, I ordered the 3XL and I am glad I did as it is snug. Snug is okay in a motorcycle jacket, of course, but to me it seemed to run small. The jacket is also very comfortable with the armor in. I've had other jackets where I took the armor out because it drove crazy because it would not stay were it should be.

    Pros: Very cool
Cons: A little itchy in the elbows

This is my 2nd mesh jacket. The other is a fieldsheer. Rode in this jacket yesterday and it had great airflow in the arms, seemed good in the torso. The fabric is not exceptionally stiff, but it's just fine. I did notice a little flapping in the wind on the top of one shoulder and a little on my ribs. Not bad at all, but just caught a glimpse in the mirror.I like the liner of this jacket much better than my field sheer jacket. The FS jacket's liner was rubbery on both sides making it stick to my arms. This one is plain nylon on the inside and rubbery on the outside. This means I can take the jacket off wo ripping the sleeves out due to sweat. All pockets are waterproofed, even the cell phone pocket.Absolutely glad I got this one. On a side note, I got it at the store in person. The sales guy was very helpful while I was looking at rain suits. Knew his products and knew what he had in stock.

Overall: Very good jacket. I would recommend to any one looking for a good leather jacket with simple styling. I have used Icon and Alpinestars in the past, but lately have needed to cut back some. So I was looking for cheaper option. I looked at jackets like the Coaster from tourmaster, but wanted something a little more racy. So I ordered this one.

Sizing: The XL fit a little looser than I expected, but not loose enough to warrant exchanging to the Large. I am 6 ft. and 220 and usually wear large/XL in most brands.

Pros: Good leather, thick and soft. Plenty of vents. removable liner. substantial armor. plenty of stretch panels make it easy to move in.

Cons: could use adjusters on the ends of the cuff as they are kinda tight on my wrist I have this problem with dress shirts too . Black is the only color option.

The medium I'm 5' 8 fit pretty good in the chest and waste and I liked the look of the jacket. The problem was with the arm fit and length. A couple of snaps on the arm would help and I suggest the manufacturer consider this. The length of the arms is just too long to deal with.Because of this I can't recommend this jacket. I would like to try the Shadow brand for other jackets in the future but only if it's in a retail store where I can try on before purchasing. With that said I complement Competition Accessories for honoring their return policy. Although sending anything back is time consuming, they did credit my account as stated in their policy.

AZ - Jake   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: decent product if cost is the only factor
Cons: sizes are tight interior kind of flimsy

Living out in AZ wanted a lightweight mesh jacket I am mid 40's and 6'1, 240 lbs, have a34 inch waist and work out regularly so ordered a 2XL, like I had on a prev sliders jacket I like them a bit loose, given the AZ heat. yes even in OctNov it is still hotThis jacket wears tight, like body armor. Not good for this climate. Also given my dimensions, the 2xl ran too tight-- particularly around my arms and shoulder. Also felt like the jacket interior would rip too easily. Given my sliders jacket fit well, even a bit loose and was also 2xl, just thought it was made better. It also appearred that interior would rip easily if constant removal of armor was required. This is an honest opinion. If cost is the only consideration, than I would recommend. Also the pictures do not reflect the true vibrance of the colors. I had purchased the yellow jacket and believe me-- it is vivid. It is not a dull yellow. It is quite fluorescent, which I like.

Shadow Air Pro Mesh Jacket - FL BMW Girl   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Comfortable fit, Ventilated nicely, Good Quality
    Cons: [None]

I live in Central Florida this is a comfortable riding jacket for 8 months out of the year for us here. It is easy to put on and take off - armor is not too big, but big enough for confident protection. Able to store the jacket in my empty side luggage. Like the hi-viz yellow color - eye-popping I had a Fieldsheet jacket that was VERY similar to this one - the Fieldsheet jacket of this type has been discontinued. I was happy when I found this and was amazed at how very similar this is ... very happy. Padding for the back seems to be a little bigger, which I like. Liner is also very nice - insulated and water-resistant.I would recommend this jacket.

Breezy Jacket - bisonwings   KS Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great ventalation. good fit, good armor.
Cons: weak flimsy fastners, loose stiching on hook and loop, cuffs don't close well

I have had to return the jacket for once for problems with snaps and stitching. Be sure to check each snap to be sure it can handle unsnapping and all of the hook and loop stitching. This is a nice fitting good looking jacket with well placed armor. The back pad is no contoured so it is visible through the mesh material. Jacket is cool in triple digit weather. I can't comment on the waterproofing of the liner or it's cool weather ability. However, it does have full sleeve quilting so it should help when layered with a good fleece jacket. All in all for the price it is a good value jacket for occasional use. I will only use it for extremely hot riding. That goes for almost all mesh jackets, they just can't provide the level of protection of a good textile or leather jacket.

Does what it should. - MMStingray   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Color, weight, features
    Cons: Construction

For what these are being sold for, I wasn't expecting anything world class. The first thing I noticed was the front zipper a quality YKK didn't line up, so it takes a lot of effort to zip it up. But my wife's a tailor, and I know replacing it would be no big deal, so I didn't bother exchanging it. The edges and seams are kinda sloppy, but again, I wasn't expecting Hein Gericke fit and finish. It's comfy and bright got yellow, and I'm plenty satisfied with it. I will say that I've had a couple different mesh jackets over the years, and this is the first to ever fit me like the sizing suggests it should. I'm 5'11, my chest is between 38 and 40, and not particularly broad-shouldered. This fits me perfectly.

Jacket Sizing Off - Geekemeritus   MO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
Cons: Sizing is a bit off

I ordered the jacket to use with the LD Comfort shirt. If you are not familiar with LDC, it is a two layer t-shirt that when wet, produces considerable evaporative cooling with controlled ventilation of the outer jacket layer. Mesh jackets wont work. The vents in this jacket allow you to control just the right amount of airflow to maximize the cooling time. It has not been warm enough here for a proper test, but appears like it will do the trick.I wear a 46 regular suit unaltered, so I ordered the XL, but discovered it was slightly loose and the sleeves came to my palm. I replaced it with a large, and the shoulders are a bit tight, the waist is fine, but the sleeves are still too long. I will probably have to take it to the tailor to fix the problem. If the sleeves fit it would be perfect.

    Pros: a comfortable, flexible jacket
    Cons: dont believe the sizes

It comes with a liner, spine pad, elbow and shoulder pads, and is very comfortable.I ordered a 3x, and it is smaller in the body than some other brands 2x. No 4x is available so it looks like a weight reduction is in order for me.

    Pros: Nicely made full featured
Cons: Heavy and hard to pack

I think this set of 'rain gear' is best suited to the cooler cold climates. Nice to have a model that really fits 'long' guys. I've used the set, in cool days, and like the combo a lot but I can't pack it as typical 'rain gear' for our warmer riding. Fit is fine long is long. All good features and the set works fine as wind beaters too.

    Pros: Good Quality Leather
Cons: Not a 100 Leather Jacket this allows the cold to penetrate, Very tight fit had to get two sizes bigger

For 100 you can't beat this jacket, It is not a winter jacket. The leather and zippers are good quality, but the cuff straps are crap little pieces of leather. The areas that are not leather, but breathable fabric allow wind and cold to penetrate the jacket, even at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Jacket is really cut thin across the waist and the sizes are way off. I normally wear a 44 and had to get a 48 to fit.

    Pros: Good material, very visible
Cons: Horrible chafing pads, too loose around cuff, too large for intended size

It seemed like a good deal. It has many features you can't find in a sub 100 jacket. However, after trying on the jacket, I had to take the back and shoulder pads out. The were most uncomfortable and protruding. I wear and ordered a size large. The jacket fit like a cross between X-Large and nearly X-Large. It was too big around the waist and chest. The sleeves have a zip up cuff, but the cuff is still way too big and I have big arms and wrists. I sent it back and got an Olympia Renegade Jacket, size Large. Love it, love it, love it. It fits great. The pads are great. The quality is super. So in conclusion, money and brand names are really hard to beat.

Shadow Maelstrom Perforated Jacket - Sizzorhead   MN Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Well built. Heavy leather. Unbeatable price.
    Cons: Very small fit.

I was so excited when this jacket was delivered and I pulled it out of the box. Looked great, seemed very well made, lots of perforations compared to some of the other ones I've looked at. And the price was unbeatableNow - That being said, Here's why I really don't like to buy clothes over the internet - I was looking for the Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 or Phoenix 2.0. Tried one on at the store when I was in town. Went on the web to order it after sleeping on it for a while. But saw this one and just really couldn't pass it up when I saw the price.Well, after reading some of the reviews, I purchased one that I thought might actually be a bit on the large size. It wasn't even close Way too tight Almost couldn't even zip it up I don't know where it was made, but their idea of a 46 chest is closer to a 43 I have a 45 chest and like I said - Needed help from my wife to zip it up and we laughed our heads off.I would have re-ordered a couple sizes up, but the sleeves were already a little long.So - If you are 6'2, 120 pounds, with long skinny monkey arms, this is the jacket for youIf you're built like 80 of not-so-skinny Americans, pass on it unless you're prepared to pay return freight.

Terribly Disappointed - John   Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: NONE
Cons: The fit of this jacket is bizarre to say the least

My jacket arrived yesterday. When I tried it on, I could hardly get my arms in because it was so tight. I double checked the size tag, but it was correct. After I removed the liner, I managed to squeeze my arms in, but the sleeve length hung well below my fingertips and I wear a 35 shirt sleeve length. Once I finally got my arms in the jacket, the chest midsection area was at least 8-10 inches too small and I couldn't begin to think about zipping it up.I ordered my normal correct size, but because the fit was so very bad.

Scorcher Mesh Jacket - J. Cole   CA Recommended by Reviewer: No
Pros: Nice fit, well proportioned, sturdy material, good colors
Cons: Collar opening is too small for rest of jacket sizing, collar should be different style

I bought the XL size as advised, as I usually wear a size L. The jacket fit perfectly in regard to sleeve length, chest size, sleeve circumference room for your biceps, not skin tight, but the collar closure could not be fastened. The collar size on an XL jacket should be proportioned to fit the neck of an XL person, not a pencil neck. And mesh jackets usually do not have mandarin collars. There is usually no collar to allow for free flow of air and free movement to the wearer. When I put on the jacket I could not zip it all the way and I could not secure the closure, and the collar restricted my neck movement and snagged my beard stubble. I returned the jacket just because of the neck size restrictions. If not for the poor design of the collar you have a winning jacket for 89.99 and a happy customer.
