SMH5 - Tyson GA
Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: clear intercom, battery life, ease of use
I purchased the smh5 primarily for the intercom function with my passenger. It works wonderfully in that regard. Noise reduction works quite well and we have no trouble hearing one another. To that point the device also allows me to make and receive phone calls very well at highway speeds with little complaint of wind noise. The only con I can mention is range. When paired with other rider's headsets I can seldom have reliable conversation with more than 150-175 feet between headsets. Overall a great product that fulfills my needs quite well.
Pretty good, but looking into SMH-10 - Steve NY
Recommended by Reviewer: No
Pros: Pairs easily to phone, small, light, good battery life
Cons: ear pieces a little bulky, low volume & sound quality for music
Overall this is not a bad product, and fits the bill for what I was looking for at a reasonable price. If I had the opportunity to try these before purchasing, I would have gone with the SMH10 instead. I find I often need to have the volume at full blast to hear music well, and once it gets turned up that much the sound quality suffers. It's pretty tinny, with little to no mid, and bass levels. The mic doesn't work that well for phone calls either. The people on the other end have a very tough time hearing me, this is when I am pulled over on the side of the road, and wearing a full face helmet. It's better than nothing, but will probably upgrade within a year.
