Rush Roadliner 3.5 inch slip-on - shelby623 NC
Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Excellent fit and finish, improves throttle response
Cons: Unpleasant, loud, un-vtwin-like roar at more than 12 throttle
As usual with CompAcc, I received pipe in 2 days. Muffler had nice chrome finish with no blemishes underneath. Fit was almost perfect. Much easier to put on that the stock muffler because the Rush is so much lighter. This with the exception of the clamp that came with the Rush which was a bit oversize and bulky and barely fit between the pipe and the frame but it did seal fine, very little backfiring. At idle, 60 mph cruising, even up slight inclines, the Rush is only a little louder than the stock pipe and a little 'edgier'. However, when rolling on from 12 throttle or more, all hell breaks loose. The sound becomes an ugly, loud, chaotic roar. There no even, increasing syncopation of a V-twin accelerating even though the giant engine is hurtling the bike forward really hard. Once it makes this sound, I want to let off. It's that unpleasant and it not the loudness that is the issue. I had a set of Samsons on the bike without baffles and it was loud as hell but it was beautiful. I only took them off because they were made for a Raider and did not really fit with the foot boards, causing the front head pipe to not seal on the exhaust port. There are no smaller baffles 1.75 for the Rush slip-on but I am going to experiment with hand perforated, restrictor tubes to see if I can do anything about the racket the Rush muffler emits.
