Information and Details about the National Cycle VStream Windshield - Honda ST1300
made by National Cycle
Comfort
National Cycle revolutionizes windscreen performance with the VStream® Windscreen. The patented "V" shape and advanced dimensional contours push the wind vortex away from the rider's head, resulting in a peaceful, quiet riding environment. The passenger's comfort is improved as well.

Optics
VStream windscreens deliver unprecedented durability and optical clarity through the use of 4.5-6.0mm thick Lexan® polycarbonate.

Strength
Nothing else comes close to matching the impact strength of polycarbonate, making it the ideal material for motorcycle windscreens. It is 10X stronger than H.I.A. and 20X more impact resistant than acrylic plastic.

State-of-the-art Quantum™ coated Lexan® polycarbonate gives the VStream 30X more abrasion resistance than acrylic materials, and 23X better crack and impact resistance. This is the best, toughest, most long lasting windscreen material you can buy.

Features
  • Advanced "V" Shape and dimensional contours push the wake out and away from the side of the rider's helmet
  • Constructed of sturdy 4.5-6.0mm polycarbonate material
  • Uses National Cycle's exclusive abrasion-resistant Quantum hardcoating
  • Replaces stock windscreen on most models; for models without fairings, a mounting bracket system is included
  • 4-point mounting system requires no modifications to stock components
  • Provides outstanding rigidity
  • 3-year manufacturer warranty against breakage
  • Manufactured in the USA

    Dimensions
VStream Windscreens are measured vertically from the bottom center edge to the top of the screen, and horizontally across the back at the widest point.

Note: Fairing-Mount VStream Windscreens use the bike's original mounting hardware. Fork-Mount VStream Windscreens include all brackets and mounting hardware.

wyo rider - dennis   WY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Reduced the buffeting quite a bit over the stock wind screen.
    Cons: none

The stock wind shield did little to stop the wind from hitting me in the eyes. The vstream has stopped the wind from hitting the top of the helmet. My rides are now more enjoyable and less fatiguing. Was very easy to install. Quality is vey good.

VStream beats stock 2011 C14 screen - Sailandcrash   OK Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Less noise, calmer air, bigger quiet zone
    Cons: nada

I had a 2006 FJR1300 and added a VStream shield and liked it. So when I got a 2011 Concours, I installed a VStream and like it also. Way better than stock. Maybe some are better, but this seems to work for me. All the others cost more, maybe worth it, I am content with what I got. Thanks a have a great day

Great improvement over OEM - jprobins   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Reduced wind noise. Great visibility. Increased bike stability.
Cons: Barely touches handlebar brake and clutch reservoirs.

After 23 years I replaced the OEM Polycarbonate windshield with this product. On our first test ride my wife and I turned down our intercom volume one notch due to the reduced wind noise. We also noticed a significant reduction in wind buffeting around our neck and shoulders. I feel the bike is much more stable and feels like it is riding in a groove with less drag. It accelerates up to 65 MPH with much less throttle effort. I would highly recommend this to all Goldwing 1500 riders. The only distraction is the optics down around the dashboard can be confusing due to the contours in that area.Well done National Cycle

Commuter - TeamBandaid   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Looks great, Outstanding protection, truly a quality product
Cons: Why didn't Yamaha do this

I am 52 years old and have always been a sport bike rider so yes looks are important to me I recently purchased a FJR for my 75 mile commute I live in the Great Northwest the Seattle area I ride every day yes every day and yes it rains here ha ha In fact throughout the year my average riding gear is cold weather rain gear and yes occasionally I will get caught out there in the snow not good So anyone that has ridden a FJR knows how much wind noise you get on these bikes Don't get me wrong I love this bike but my full sport bike had less wind noise. The V stream windshield is a awesome product Wind noise, weather protection, and good looks why didn't Yamaha do this and did I mention a great price Thanks CompAcc

Great windshield - MikeM Hartford   CT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Looks, performance, easy to install
Cons: Not quite as cool looking as stock windshield

While my stock FJR windshield does look great, I'm 6'2, so I can't hear my exhaust or anything but wind above 50 mph. I had replaced it with the CalSci windshield, but it scratched easily and it's thumbnail look kind of ruined the aesthetics of the whole bike. The VStream is a great comprimise - looks good, and performance is equal to that of the CalSci. Quality is also outstanding. If you have the stock windshield, and are tired of getting beat in the head with air, and want to keep your biking looking good, this is the one for you.

Just installed and gave it a test ride. Plenty of wind protection from mid helmet down, and from shoulders with a tourmaster jacket. I am 6 ft. At 70 mph was still working great. Seems like the bike holds a line and handles much better. Wind does buffer to the top of helmet but much better than no shield and if you have been on the high way with this bike you know how bad it is when traveling against the wind, cuts right through. Great shield and worth every penny. Kind of a pain to install without another set of hands but can be done. Took me about 45 min. Love it.

I own 4 bikes, 3 crotch rockets & a Harley. My favorite is my 2007 Yamaha FZ1. I wanted less wind at 70 - 100 mph, so I researched different options. The National Cycle VStream is twice the thickness of the stock windscreen as well as its competitors. It took me 10 minutes to install 1 well nut fell off, so I loosed the backing trim panel to retrieve and complete. Between 70 - 100 mph, I now get a light breeze on my shoulders and neck. Nothing blowing me off the bike, and zero helmet buffeting. I am 6' tall. The screen is stiff like I figured it would be, looks like better than the stock screen, almost like the one on the 2011 Kaw ZX10. I am VERY happy!

LOVE IT, LOOKS GOOD , GOOD WIND PROTECTION, SOLID, NO VIBRATION.

V-Stream FJR - DHansen486   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Quality product
Cons: wish it were wider, but it is as wide as the mirrors will allow.

It is an excellent touring windshield at 21 high. It is taller and wider than the stock windshield and gives better coverage than the stock windshield even with a laminar lip. Now I leave the windshield at it's lowest setting height. My shoulders don't get fully wet in the rain as with the stock windshield. I am used to the coverage of a Honda 2001 GL1800 Gold Wing which is very wide. And I am used to the scoop ability of a laminar lip on a 1996 Honda VFR750 which is my other bike. The laminar lip on the stock FJR 1300 windshield did not produce the same great results as it had on the Honda VFR750.

Good Screen - Bend XT1200   OR Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Easy Install Good Quality
Cons: Wind over top hits me at ear level.

If you have a long torso, Like I do. Consider going to the higher screen. The screen does keep the wind off my shoulders and greatly reduced the buffeting from the stock screen. I will probably add the MadStad adjuster to increase height and tilt forward slightly for highway riding.

Great shield. - JimmyP   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Does an excellent job of moving air around rider.
    Cons: None

I purchased this windshield to get a little better protection than stock and dark tinted to hide my GPS mounted behind windshield. Very impressed with the v design of shield, it really pushes the air around me creating a comfortable pocket... no pushing and no buffeting

Vstream windshield - Councours 14   AZ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Taller than stock shield polycarbonate quiet
    Cons: crosswind behavior

Replaced the stock shield on a 2012 Concours 14 with this Vstream. I'm 6', 32 inseam and the stock shield is just not tall enough for a quiet ride. The airflow past the Vstream is very different form the stock shield. The Vstream pushes the air out and around the rider. At moderate freeway speeds it almost feels like the air is pushing you forward. Go a little faster and the 'bubble' moves back and it seems to get quieter. At 80mph I can hear the stock exhaust. Something that was drowned out by the wind noise with the stock shield. Some people have complained that this shield flexes too much. On a normal calm day I have not noticed this but in a strong gusty side wind this shield does move a lot and if it's up in the higher position it tends to 'steer' the bike. I haven't ridden the stock shield in as windy conditions as I have the Vstream so it is hard to say if it's better or worse. It's less of a problem with the shield in the lowest position so the compromise is less coverage for better stability in windy conditions. Having come from a Triumph Sprint this isn't a big issue for me.National shields are polycarbonate and that was a big selling point for me. You can toughen acrylic but it is still not as strong as a poly shield.

Concours 2008 - KC Rider   KS Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Perfect fit to bike, calmer air than stock, no distortion
    Cons: Some shake

I am happy with this windshield. Installed as easily as stock windshield. I am 6'3 with 32 inseam so I have a taller upper torso. When shield is fully raised I have pretty good dead air space. Air flow is right at top edge of my helmet. I am experiencing a very slight push forward at back of helmet at higher speeds 70 - 80mph. Dead air space will be even better for persons shorter than me. There is some shake at upper outside edges of windshield when raised windshield could stand to be a little thicker. There is no distortion when looking through windshield, although at my height I can look over top. Good deflection of air around the side of rider head and body.

10.25 for Victory Cross Country - JeffroCDX   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good protection for the rider. No buffeting and relatively quiet.
Cons: Wife says the wind beats her up with this windshield. Don't like that it has to be tucked into the fairing.

I've had the 10.25 windshield for a couple of months now and will be replacing it. I am 5'7 and the windshield give good wind protection for the rider without head buffeting and noise. However, for the passenger, the air flow wraps around the driver and directly hits the passenger. My wife said she has to duck down behind me to keep her head still. In direct sunlight, the windshield displays rainbow colors and is distorted in certain areas. To install this windshield, it is necessary to loosen the fairing screws to be able to slide it down behind the outer fairing. In my opinion, this windshield is good for a single rider but not two up. If you can deal with the distortion or you don't look through it's pretty good.
