Video Reviews
Hey guys this is Reuben with Competition Accessories and welcome to our video review of the ever popular Michelin Pilot Power 2CT. This has to be one of the best selling sport bike tires of all time and for good reason. Nothing but good things to say about them for the most part. They are a sport tire that is at home or on the track or on the street, Michelin does have some more aggressive tires that are more for the track days and if you are looking for that application then Michelin has more tires available. If your the guy that hits the track occasionally and doing some more aggressive riding on the rode then the 2CTs are definitely one you are going to want to check out. First thing about Michelin Pilot Power 2 CT's, the 2 CT's stand for dual compound so dual compound technology. What that actually means is you have a firmer compound of rubber in the center portion of the tread. The crown of the tire is a firmer rubber and then it drops down to about a 20% softer rubber compound on the side. That is true for both the front and rear tires. So if you were going to rate this softest to hardest in terms of rubber compound then the softest part of the tire is going to be on the front so you have the shoulder of the front tire which is going to be your softest rubber and then you have soft to medium compound on the center of the front so you have that really good braking performance. Obviously the front tire is not put under nearly as much stress as the rear tire when the power is being put down. So the medium compound you find in the front is what makes up the shoulders on the rear tire. Finally in the center of the rear you have the firmest compound out of them all. One thing about Michelin is they have a very soft carcass and I can sit here and push on the tires and you can see how soft they actually are. What this does is it makes it easier for the tire heat up and warm up very quickly. They are also tire pressure sensitive so definitely keep it in check according to your motorcycle or the manufacturer. Once you have the right tire pressure dialed in obviously there are a lot of other things to deal with handling on the bike and they perform really well. They are pretty much the benchmark for sport bike tires they have been around for a long time and there are definitely more sticky tires out there, there are other tires around that will last longer but if you want a tire that is tried and trued and is going to perform really well in a variety of conditions the Pilot Power 2CT is definitely a contender still even though it has been out for a while now. One thing to point out when you are looking at these the curvature of the tire the actual profile these tires have a very high center crown and then they drop off rather rapidly to the sides and then they kind of have a flatter profile towards the shoulders. What that does is it helps get a better feel for the bike in the transitions like when your turning in its going to make the bike feel very light. Then you have a really confidence inspiring patch of rubber on the shoulders that has that softer compound rubber and it will lay down a really nice big contact patch and give you a really good feeling especially with the Michelin name behind it. Its a good solid product. Lets talk about the tread pattern, it is definitely classic you know you probably have seen lots of other guys out there running these but they provide you a really good compromise between a solid slick and lots of rain grooves which are used to evacuate water and other debris away from the tread. You have lots of rain grooves that are criss crossing go all down the center of the tread. It is not so much going to be an issue if you push really hard. They are going to promote even wear and give you a really confident feeling. The front is actually grooved or siped a little bit more. You have a more dense ratio or what they call the land sea ratio of the tire, they are more grooves per square inch of the tire on the front than the rear. Definitely a great set of tires, I cant speak of them enough. You can jump on our website to check the current pricing of them and we have many sizes available. Information and Details about the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Tires - Z-Rated - Rear
made by Michelin
Pilot® Power 2CT motorcycle tires add two-compound technology to the already renowned Pilot® Power range. While 2CT technology originated in MotoGP racing, Pilot® Power 2CT tires are intended for the most demanding sportbike riders, who use their bikes both on the road and for track days. • 20% softer rubber mix on the edges of the tread yields phenomenal cornering grip

Excellent Tires - stomp347   CT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Price, wear, quality
    Cons: None

This is my 4th set of MPP 2CT tires. They are an abosolutly awesome tire. Not to mention a great price through Comp Acc. Best price every single time.

Awesome tire... 3rd set - Yorktown82   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: It is round and rolls....
Cons: It doesn't cook me dinner.

Awesome tire, not much more to say about it. I have full confidence when I go into tight turns that I will have the traction needed. They also do pretty well with the mileage.

Track and Canyon - NigelS3   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good grip, inexpensive, great road feedback
    Cons: Wear quickly

I use this tire on my Triumph Speed Triple. I use it on the track and in the canyons only. I don't commute at all on this bike. Grip is awesome. Love these tires. They are always on sale so I don't mind that they wear fast, about 3,000 miles from a rear. Going to try the pilot power 3's next though.

Sticks to the road like your balls stick your leg on a hot day - vampcaff   WI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Sticky, sticky, sticky
Cons: Not the best wet condition tire

These are great tires, I was sceptical about the dual compound at the beginning but once I got these bad boys on the bike my outlook changed. These tires are great and you can really feel the bike grab in the twisties. That is until it rains. Still handles well with the wet but you can't get the bike leaned over far enough to get to the softer compound. Not sure how they work for commuting since I only ride the bike for fun and track days. But really isn't any tire able to commute, maybe not the most comfortable ride but hey why not grow a pair and just ride All in all these tires rock

My Review on 6 tires now - Bugs   KY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Tread Life, Handling, Wear.
    Cons: none

I have tried these tires on several bikes, 04 st1300, zx9r,cbr600. I never got the mileage or handling out of any tires before. I use to run metzlers and was the best until i ran these. I have been getting over 12k on the rear tires and that is impressive. They feel planted, very impressed.

Pilot power 2ct - William berger   NC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Outstanding grip wet or dry.
    Cons: Pressure sensitive

Outstanding street tire. Have ridden on multiple flagship tires from different companies in the past this one is by far my absolute favorite. Once you have the pressure set up appropriately this tire provides serious confidence inspiring grip in any condition at any lean angle.

Mr - Daniel T Haley   AL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great looking tire, holds the road good in curves.
    Cons: A bit pricey.

Love the Michelin brand tires I also use them on my cars as well. Great looking tire with good performance. Just wish they wasn't so expensive.

I would recommend to buy them.

Michelin PP on R1100S - John   NH Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: very smooth transition from side to side, softer over cracks, bumps
    Cons: [None]

These are the first sport bike tires I have ridden in the past 10 or so years. I normally use sport-touring tires for their longer life. But I decided to try the Pilot Powers on the new-to-me Boxer Cup. I found that they seem to roll from edge to edge much smoother than ST tires, I don't feel the usual want to go straight sensation.I expect shorter life from these compared to Pilot Road 2CT, but so far they seem worth the trade off.

Great tire - ZC Moto Vietnam   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes

    Cons: [None]

Great for sport and touring riding styleGood in wet conditon

#1 tyre - Great product   MD Recommended by Reviewer: Yes

The Best Tires - Slick Whip   DE Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Serious Lean, Immaculate Grip and Traction
    Cons: none

This is the best tire that Michelin has made for the rider who is not a professional but still wants to ride like one. I can honestly say I was afraid to hit curves before but with these tires I have no fear. With these tires you can get low when you lean. Excellent tire There's no other answer.

Compared to the straight pilot powers these wear like iron with no handling reduction tire does not square off after long distances on super slab, tire life is double I have a 150 hp at the rear wheel and this is the best bang for the buck. Linear predictable handling great breaking and wet traction zero issues never had a tire failure. Owned many pilots

Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Tires - Scott Colbath   AZ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Excellent feel, plenty of grip for the street
    Cons: [None]

Great tires. I've been a Michelin Pilot Power user since I bought my first Hayabusa back in 2003. Any Pilot Power variant I have used has offered plenty of grip and feel. Wear is OK. We would all like more miles out of a set of tires, but there will always be some compromise traction for longevity.

Nice - bob   MN Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Sticky
    Cons: None

therr750   MI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: This is a good riding and good wearing tire
Cons: Not being made anymore. Superseded by Pilot Power 3 which is a better tire but more expensive

I am very satisfied with the Michelin Pilot Power series of tires. They ride well, wear well and handle well for those of us that don't push to ten tenths on the street.

2ct review - rypkr   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: super sticky
    Cons: treadlife

Great tires with an awesome profile and great tip in that greatly improves the flickable feel of a bike. Unfortunately you'll only get 2000-2500 mi on a liter bike if you ride moderate to moderately-hard.

Good, but prefer the Dunlaps - mt   CO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
    Cons: [None]

Can't complain about these tires having had a great track day already. However, the Dunlap equivalent, which I rode several track days with last year, warm up faster and are cheaper. Maybe I'm just more used to them, but for the price difference and how close they are my mind is set on Dunlaps next time.

Great tires - B   MD Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
    Cons: [None]

I am a new rider, so I don't have any qualified comparisons, however, these tires are performing how I would expect. They ride smoothly for my 04 GSXR 750. I have not had any problems with them and for the price, I would definitely buy them again as a set. CompAcc offered a great experience in purchasing this product.

This tire is sticky, real sticky! Heats up quick, handles corners like a demon and provides great wet traction! So why the 1 star you ask Well, just this year I've gone through 3 rear tires!! That's 3 flat tires in 3 months and 2 last year. They are so soft if you run over a tic tac you'll get a flat. In 20 years of riding and all sorts of tire brands I've NEVER experienced this! Now I travel the same roads 5 days a week to and from work and NEVER got a flat when I ran Pirelli or Metzeler sport tires. Same roads, same type of tires just different brands equals my conclusion, Michelin's are too soft. I love this tire but will NEVER buy Michelin again.
