Hey guys this is Reuben with Competition Accessories welcome to our review of the Joe Rocket Alter Ego 3.0 Jacket now sit back and relax because this one is a little bit more in depth then our other jackets and that's basically because your getting two jackets in one with the Alter Ego 3.0. This jacket does retail for about 275$ so when you compare it to other textile jackets or other mesh jackets you might find that's a little bit higher then average however you are essentially getting two jackets in one, one that will be functional all year around meaning its not just functional in certain climates this jacket is going to be a fully featured waterproof textile jacket if you need it to be if it has insulation it can be a cool mesh jacket if you want it to be on those hot summer rides so if you really need just a do it all jacket the Alter Ego 3.0 is a great jacket , now lets get into some of the features. First of all for adjustment of fit obviously this jacket has a little bit more complexity to it there's more layers going on, this jacket that I'm wearing is an extra large which is the size that i normally wear and with all the layers in place with what i have now. i would say its true to size maybe slightly on the snug side compared to some other jackets even from Joe Rocket and that's just because there's so many layers going on but there's nothing that's binding up on me i wouldn't say i need to go up a size at all just bear in mind with everything installed it has more material and then once you've got it all taken apart its probably going to be more loose. You can also see the adjustments here the sleeve cuffs is a simple Velcro closure that allows you to snug the sleeves up, there are also waist adjustment bands built in on each side so you can tighten up the jacket at the base so you can keep it nice and snug to prevent wind or water to come up underneath and the outer shell of this jacket is a rock text waterproof shell, you have waterproof built in throughout the jacket here and then again there's more waist adjustment bands or kind of a midriff at the middle section but because their are so many layers you want that flexibility of fit you want to be able to adjust the jacket. Were going to go ahead and open the jacket up , you see they used snaps over the main zipper here its a storm flap , and then if i open up the main zipper its just one main zipper to get in and out of the jackets so that's a really nice feature. That way your not unzipping 3 or 4 layers to get in and out of the jacket but depending on how you have the jacket set up you'll be able to get it on and off real easy. Before i do open it all the way up and take it off to show you how to convert it all even if you just have the whole jacket put together and you need a little bit of ventilation they do give you that option so you do have two zippered vents on the chest here its going to allow plenty of air flow through the torso obviously not nearly enough for super hot summer days but you know if your wearing a jacket and you need a little bit extra air flow open those up for a quick adjustment so there's actually an exhaust vent on the back of the jacket here so you can always open that up to allow warm air to escape. I'm going to go ahead and remove the jacket and show you basically all the different features here. You've basically got 3 layers to this jacket, you have the outer shell which is waterproof rock tex material you do have some ballistic style nylon on the impact areas they give you turtle shell style CE approved armor in the shoulders and elbows of the jacket as well as a duel density back pad, this is that rear exhaust vent i was telling you about you can unzip that and that's going to allow air to flow out that back of the jacket. The collar is lined with some nice soft fabric its not going to rub you raw or be uncomfortable and then on the inner jacket they used like a neoprene style material so no matter what stage your wearing your going to be comfortable. The thermal qualities of this jacket are the one area where its probably not quite as heavy duty as if you went with a full on textile touring jacket like the Joe Rocket ballistic is a good example of that they will give you a fully sleeved quilted thermal liner , this jacket uses a fleece style vest liner so your not getting full thermal down the length of the arms but again your getting better versatility you could always wear a sweater or something else underneath if its extra cold out. Lets go ahead and remove that inner liner at a table back here so that you can kinda follow along with different layers, but that inner liner is basically removed with one zipper all the way around you see how quick and easy that is to remove very simple. There's the duel density foam back pad we were talking about you'll see they have ventilation holes in this you can actually feel its a substantial back piece its not just a thin piece of foam like what is included on a lot of other jackets there are some belt loop attachments at the base of the jacket here so you can always attach that to your belt loops and then were going to go ahead and pull the jacket apart to see how you convert this jacket from full textile to mesh. Usually the best thing to do is put it on its front , there are two zippers that run down each side and that's your main zipper here were going to go ahead and zip that its the same style zipper and whats really neat about this jacket is they actually give you (better go ahead and pull the sleeves out) some Velcro tabs with some loops that are going to help hold the sleeves in place when your getting the jacket on and off its all put together. If you undo those pull the inner jacket out and whats really neat is this jacket the outer jacket doesn't have the armor in it or anything its just a shell so you can actually roll this up real nice and tight like that and then they actually give you a zippered pouch so you can see there's a zipper that goes along here and you can actually roll this whole jacket up so that its inside of this pouch here , you get the idea its pretty quick and easy to do. If you wanted to, say your on a long trip or tour where your going to encounter lots of climates, you know some times when your out west the climate can change very quickly and easily especially when going through the mountains and getting in higher elevation it can get cold you might encounter rain. You could stash this in the built in pocket that's built into the jacket itself or store it in a saddle bag it even has a waist belt or a carry strap it has some elastic to it but with the strap here it snaps so you can take this with you really easily. This is the outer waterproof part of the jacket so its fairly compact to have a motorcycle jacket in there and then on the inside is what we were mentioning earlier you have a full mesh jacket so this is the inside of the Alter Ego 3.0 , I'm going to go ahead and put this back on so that you can see what it looks like but this is essentially a whole other jacket that you will be able to wear for warm weather so you can go ahead and zip it up with the main zipper there and your going to have plenty of air to flow through this. Again comfort features have zippered openings here you have the Velcro loop that they use to hold the sleeves in place this actually doubles in function it also helps to custom fit the sleeve cuffs on the mesh jacket when your using that jacket by itself you can see the armor is accessible through a zippered pocket on the outside and you can see the armor right there from inside the sleeve. Again the armor and all the protection is actually built into the mesh jacket. Snap sleeve take up is attached to the forearm here to hold that armor in place and ill give you a good 360 here so you can see what this jacket looks like. You have some reflective material built in across the back of the jacket so for night time if your just wearing the mesh jacket its going to flow a lot of air through it so if you have a fleece style vest liner that you can install inside of this that is not going to block a lot of wind its going to definitely keep you warmer if you install the outer layer as well you have a waterproof shell so very very versatile set up. Again that's the Alter Ego 3.0 its available in a couple different colors they also announced its going to be available in HI-Vis soon you can check our website for that its Competition Accessories .com
Information and Details about the Joe Rocket Alter Ego 3.0 Jackets
made by Joe Rocket
The Joe Rocket Alter Ego 3 Jackets is a replacement to the loved Alter Ego 2 jacket. The new jacket does not have all the same features as the 2.0. Notably the 2.0 had zip of panels to reveal mesh panels under it. The 3.0 version has a complete outer waterproof shell that zips off to reveal a mesh jacket under it. The new 3.0 Alter Ego Jacket does still offers the versatility needed to handle most weather changes and is a good all-in-one option for a jacket.

The Rocket Alter Ego 3.0 Jackets use the authentic MetaSport II system. This system in the jacket is the all weather riding solution you've been waiting for. 100% WATERPROOF treated outer layer which is easily removed to reveal the fully armored high-flow FreeAir MESH jacket beneath. This jacket beneath is similar to the Joe Rocket Phoenix 5 Jackets but has armor that is removable from the outside of the inner jacket. So the inside is clean and comfortable. Inside the inner jacket of the Alter Ego 3 is a thermal vest that is perfectly good for wearing by itself when not riding. All in all this is a great new addition to the Rocket Line.. You can't go wrong with the Alter Ego 3 Jacket

Sizing Note: The Tall sizes ( Black only ) have about 1.5 inch longer sleeves and torso than the normal sizes and the sizing seems to be accurate based on our test compared to the chart. So we recommend you order based on the chart and if you are between sizes go up.

The latest evolution of the MetaSport II System — Truly the best of both worlds!

Versatile Jacket - foothills   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Versatile for various weather conds, Comfortable, well made.
    Cons: [None]

Fantastic jacket. I have the high viz yellow. Have used it from 37 degrees with all three layers and up to 98 degrees with just the mesh. When it's time to clean the mesh jacket, just take out the back protector and throw it in the machine.

good jacket - Dan K   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: 2 jackets in one
    Cons: none so far

Basically this is 2 jackets in one. There is the outer layer which is easily folded up into a pouch, the fleece vest, which gives minimal protection, and then the joe rocket phoenix like mesh layer. I use the mesh a lot during the summer. It picks up the wind well and keeps me cool while moving. I haven't tried the waterproofness of the outer shell yet, however, the seams and zippers all look like they are waterproof. The fit worked according to the sizing chart. I am around 4648 chest, and my wais is around 3638. XL fits me fine. The armors are removable and don't float around too much. There are a lot of zippers to help with air flow.

    K. Smalley
Great Jacket. I have used many others over the last 20 years, but this is one of the best. The Outer shell folds into the storage pouch. The fleece liner can be added to the jacket either just when you are using the mesh or when you have the outer shell on too. Overall this jacket is very versatile and is a winner here in VA.

Nice Jacket, not perfect - bdog   AL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Comfortable, adjustable, versatile
Cons: waterproof wears off, only fleece vest liner

This jacket is great in that it will do everything, but be warned that some NikWax or similar waterproofer will be needed.Other than that I've ridden with the jacket down to 16 degrees with only a light sweatshirt under it comfortably. The collar is a little loose, so you'd want to have a balaclava or neck gaiter or something similar to fill the gap. Good buy, just use a good waterproofer.

not waterproof - dk   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: lots of layers
    Cons: not waterproof

it's not waterproof. kinda disappointed since it does bill itself as waterproof and has reinforced zippers. Other than that I love it.

nice jacket - Shane D   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: all the options you have with it
Cons: The fact it is not waterproof

I bought this jacket so I would not have to buy a few different jackets. I live in upstate NY and ride from spring to fall. In that time there are many weather changes from day to day and even from morning till night. This keeps me from having to have a few different jackets with me at certain times of the year. I may take off during the day when it is 80 degrees and warm where the mesh jacket is great. But by the time I ride home later in the evening it has cooled down and a little cold for just the mesh so I can through the outer shell over it. The only complaint I have about this jacket is that it is not waterproof. I found this out on a ride home one day. In fact it does not take long for the water to soak through the jacket. I would have hoped it would take time if it was not water proof.

Joe Rocket has lost a cusotmer - Mats332   Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: The idea is great
    Cons: The quality is horrible

Not sure what has happened to Joe Rocket Products but the last three item I have purchased have been horrible, this coat was the worst of the three. First month I had it the stitching on the zipper started coming apart, returned it to the Distributor Sullivans and had to wait three months for them to fix it. When I got it pack there were stains on the outer shell, the distributor told me to have it dry cleaned, I read the cleaning label and called joe rocket who said to not dry clean. Sent it back to again and waited another 6 weeks for them to decide whether or not they were going to replace it. Finally I got a new one and again the stitching was horrible, not coming apart yet only had this one for 2 months so far but poorly done with loose strings coming out everywhere, Two days after receiving the new one I was caught in the rain for about 20 min not a heavy rain but rain none the less, the rain went right through the outer shell in minuets, there is nothing waterproof about this item This was the last straw for Joe Rocket for me after having stitching, and waterproof issues with my Nano suit made by Joe Rocket as well I am giving up on them. Their quality is not what it was 10 years ago when I first started buying their items. 6 coats both leather and textile, 2 suits one being full leather race suits later, I will never buy again and will never provide good feedback for them.

This jacket fully lives up to it's promise. Comfortable, warm in the cold breeze, cool in the warm breeze and flat out stylish. This jacket comes highly recommended by me

One satisfied customer - uneasy4now   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good protection, cool, good looking
    Cons: [None]

I was wearing my Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 jacket in late July when my bike and I took a slide down the asphalt. When it was over, the jacket was scraped up, but I wasn't. It did what it was supposed to, so I ordered an exact replacement. I stayed with silver because it heats up less than in the sun than black, and it looks great. The lining makes it comfortable in the spring when I get the bike out, and well into autumn. I'm 5'11 and 175 pounds, and the medium fits great.

great all around jacket - GSadventure   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
    Cons: [None]

I was really impressed with how fast the jacket came 2 days . When I opened the box if really liked the jackets look and quality of leather. What a great idea to have the leather panel zipped off to have a big mesh panel behind it. I was able to keep fairly cool even in 85 degree weather. I still havent even worn it with the leather zipped on, as I am currently still in a hot climate. I am 5'8 185 pounds and the medium fits me pretty well. Plenty of adjustability in the waist. The only thing I didnt like is that the arms seemed just a bit too long. When I snap the wrist closed though it doesnt ride up, so i can deal with it. I would recomend this jacket to someone who only wants to buy one jacket for mulitipe seasons.

Joe Rocket Jacket - Frank L.   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Light weight, very airy
    Cons: none

I needed a Summer jacket. Philadelphia can get VERY humid in the Summer. I researched mesh jackets in a reasonable price range. The Joe Rocket 5.0 kept coming up as a good one. I am completely satisfied. It is very cool with lots of air getting through when riding. I usually don't even realize I'm wearing it. A great jacket for hot weather for those of us who wear full gear every ride.

Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 Jacket - Don M   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Has a double thick waterproof liner, removable. You could wear that by itself if you wanted to. On a warm day the jacket itself, without the liner is very comfortable. You hardly know you have a jacket on. Havn't had 90 plus here yet, but protection or not always has it's price.
Cons: The rlbow pads move around a bit with out the liner in.

Excellant value for the price. I would recomend this jacket to any one. By the way my wife has had one for 6 years and she also loves it.

Nice warm weather jacket - Rune Rider   CT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Lots of air flow, Rain protection, Stylish, Not bulky, Not too expensive
Cons: You give up a lot of protection when compared to a top end leather jacket

I bought this for a summer jacket to deal with hot days and thunderstorms. It's a great compromise between comfort and protection that doesn't break the bank. It gets lots of compliments for style too. I'm 6'0 and 205 lbs with 45 chest and 34 waist. I wear a 3435 inch sleeve in a dress shirt. I bought this jacket in size L based on the size chart and the fit is excellent for me. Not too snug or too loose with a nice taper at the waist. If you are sporting a beer gut, this may not be the jacket for you as the taper on the sides and waist is fairly form fitting. You may have to go up one or two sizes which may make the whole thing look like a tent.Construction and materials seem top notch for a mesh jacket. The foam back protector is the only thing that is cheap. But that seems par for the course with all jacketsmanufacturers and is easily solved by sliding in a CE approved device.Highly recommended

Great jacket and price - JimC   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great styling, great value. Jacket was exactly as described
Cons: fits a little tight in the arms

It can be hard for me to find a jacket that fits right - sometimes size Large fits, sometimes Medium. I am 5'10, 185 lbs, 42 chest. This time when I started shopping for a jacket, I paid close attention to the video reviews on the site. I remember Ruben mentioning that the Joe Rocket jackets run a little big, so I ordered a Medium in the Reactor 3.0. When it arrived I was very happy overall. The fit is not perfect fits a little tight in the forearms but it fits well in the chest and shoulders.SInce it is not really hot right now, I was wondering how comfortable it would be wearing it while riding in 60 or 70 degree weather. Basically, I was comfortable at those temps if I wore it with the liner in and 2-3 layers underneath. Overall, great jacket. Thanks for the helpful video reviews.

good, no, GREAT jacket - kangkong   IA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Looks great, very discrete and casual looking, smells good
Cons: Arms a little long for me, Loop for button inside arm sleeve came loose where you button the liner to the jacket

It's leather, don't expect it to be light. I have the Large blackblack version. I've ridden in 35F-70F in this thing. Keeps you warm with the liner. Starts to get warmer around 60-65. I have short arms, so the sleeves don't come like suits and are probably an inch too long for me. Probably good for regular and long sleeve cuts. Worn probably around 10 times and is starting to break in. Not for people with huge biceps, but the zipper in the sleeve does help out. This is a very casual looking jacket and that's why I bought it. I love the flat black color rather than a shiny black. Like I said in the Cons section, I had the jacket on during warmer weather and when I pulled my arm out, it took the loop out where the liner attaches to the jacket in the arm by the wrist. Not a huge deal breaker, but sad it didn't last long. Zippers are good quality and inside pocket is deep. Stitching is wonderfully done and leather is thick. There are zippers to allow you to zip over gloves, so with arms stretched out in riding position, it doesn't seem too long. I couldn't bump off a star for my 2 cons. Probably give it a 4.6 if I could. Got this around 200 on this site, so definitely a great deal on this type of leather and craftsmanship. I would buy this again and am not disappointed with my decision.

Love the Joe Rocket Jackets - Deep South Rider   GA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Well tailored, cool without the liner, and stylish. Looking good.
    Cons: [None]

After seeing the loss of skin my son suffered after a low speed close encounter with a, failure to yield SUV, It was obviously time to upgrade our family riding gear. We live about 40 miles from Florida. Our gear has to be cool or it will not be used. Heat stroke is NOT conducive to a good day of riding. With the liner in it is versatile enough to use on those cool mornings as well. After looking at every jacket from here to Atlanta and Tallahassee, FL we ordered the Phoenix 5.0 Joe Rockets for two of us. The other two also selected Joe Rocket products. My wife got the Cleo and the other son one of the Military spec. models. I am impressed with the build quality, more so at this price point. Buying 4 of them at once, price matters. I think you will be pleased with the Phoenix 5.0.

I absolutely love this jacket and would recommend it to anyone considering it. Of all the textile jackets i've purchased throughout the years this is by far the best one. I was a bit iffy about it considering the price but this is a great deal, i've spent almost double on other jackets Icon, speed & strength and this jacket exceed's the others in quality, fit, and over all appearance.

    Pros: well made and warm
    Cons: none

I bought this jacket late in the season, so far it is working great. I have rode a few hundred miles with temps in the teens and twentys with no complant.. I did have to reorder a larger size, due to the sleeves being too tight. If you order one of these I would order 1 size larger due to the small diameter sleeves.

Pros: Comfortable, Water-proof, Fits well, Good price
    Cons: [None]

I got this jacket really cheap, and it was well worth the price I paid. It's very light compared to other textile jackets, and it comes with a waterwind proof liner which really helps keep the heat in when it's cold. The jacket is very snug, and I still have full mobility. It also has really nice ventilation, but I haven't used it too much since it was fall when I got it.

I've been using this jacket lately for rides in our 100 degree heat and it's as comfortable as any other summer mesh jacket that I've owned. What sets this jacket apart from most other summer mesh jackets is the thick leather overlays in the impact areas and somewhat more substantial mesh than most. Very nice leather detailing as well. Highly recommend.

I chose a Phoenix 5.0 Jacket in silver because I thought the light color would be cooler than black. I'm very pleased with my choice. It fits and looks great I'm 5'11 tall and weight 170 lb. The medium is a perfect fit. The armor is so well coutoured and placed that I can hardly tell it's there. The waterproof liner is great for cooler weather. I've been wearing this jacket for a month now, and it is still like new.

I got the Phoenix jacket. I think the quality is better than my old Fieldsheer. The fit is good and there is enough adjustment available in the waist for my beer belly. Nice touches include loops that you can hook over your pants belt to keep the jacket from riding up. The main reason I got it was that other reviewers said that it is a good hot weather jacket. It does flow more air than my previous jacket. So far, so good.

Very happy with this jacket - McGee   CO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good fit, Armor well placed, Good value for price
    Cons: Zippers a little troublesome

Overall, I'm very happy with the Phoenx 5.0 Jacket. The sizing and fit works well for me - I'm 5 foot 10, 190 lbs and normally wear a 42 or 43 regular sportcoat. The size M fits well either withwithout the liner. Size L was very comfortable, but since I am using this only as a warm weather jacket, I didn't want the extra room when only wearing a base layer. The armor also is positioned better for me with the size M. This jacket is very comfortable while riding - no areas of binding or discomfort. The color hi-viz yellow is very noticeable, which is what I wnted. My only gripe is that the 2-zipper system is a little grabby - either against the adjacent fabric or the inner liner. Perhaps this will improve as it breaks in more. This is not really anything to prevent me from buying again, but can be a little bothersome when trying to quickly gear up to go ride. I will vouch firsthand to the overall safety of the Joe Rocket jackets in a fall - the armor and abrasion reinforcement is placed well and works without compromise. There are many other brands of similar quality out there, but the Joe Rocket gear does offer a pretty good value between features, fit, and price.

Pros: Liner is very warm, fit is excellent.
    Cons: [None]

My previous jacket only had a vest inner liner so I wanted something with a full liner. The full liner in this jacket is very warm, rode to work on a couple of mornings at 40 degrees and didn't notice the cold. I also like that the sleeve cuffs zip instead of a velcro , much easier to get gloves on. I would recommend this jacket for overall styling, fit and function. Excellent jacket

I'd like to offer a review, but there's still six inches of snow on the ground I purchased this jacket based on past experience with Joe Rocket gear. All my textile gear is Joe Rocket and has been for years. A friend borrowed one of my JR jackets and had a nasty crash in a corner. The Joe Rocket jacket and Joe Rocket gloves took the impact and slide with no injury to the rider. I will be using this jacket for us with a Honda Dual Purpose XR650L. For years have been wearing a denim jacket and work gloves when thumping, I know, I know, not a lot of protection. Hence the purchase of this jacket and Joe Rocket gloves. Can't wait to ride

Just started riding and needed a good leather jacket - Beginner   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: no big logos, ability to wear through the summer
    Cons: [None]

Overall I am very happy with this jacket.I was looking for a traditionally styled, subdued leather jacket, with some safety features and the ability to wear through the summer. This jacket fits those needs to perfectly. The jacket fits me well. I am 6'0 around 225, with a bit more middle than I should have. I bought it in XL and it fits great. Not restrictive for riding, enough adjust-ability at the waist to accommodate me. And the sleeves are the perfect length for me, I normally need to order things in a tall for sleeve length. this however is perfect in standard XL.When I zipped out the liner, there is plenty of airflow through the jacket when moving. it can get hot when sitting in traffic though, but I feel the safety factor is worth that.

    Pros: [None]

For warm weather riding this jacket cannot be beat in my opinion. In fact, I don't think you can find a better warm weather leather jacket. I have worn this jacket in temperatures as high as 85 degrees with no problem at all. The sonic jacket flows air very well to keep you cool. It fits well and all the adjustments for the waste and sleeves keeps the jacket from flapping at higher speeds. The body armor of the sonic jacket is well located and you almost forget it is even there. The only negative I have ever found with this jacket is with the liner. For some reason, the sonic jacket liner is only a vest and does nothing to stop the air flow on your arms in colder weather. I think you would be better off wearing a thick shirt under the jacket then using the liner vest when it is cold. This was the only complaint I have.. So for cold weather i ordered the Sliders Quest jacket.

Great motorcycle jacket for warm weather - Seminole   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Leather, Mesh, style, fit, rain liner
Cons: Not a CE back pad, so I upgraded it.

Joe Rocket makes a great jacket in this model and compacc.com delivers at a great price and has earned my loyalty. By the way, I am the type who spends endless hours searching for the best quality and the best price. I hope this helps. Keep the rubber side downThe jacket is great. It does not ride high in the torso which for tall folks is a concern. The arms are little snug but it is a warm weather jacket. The arm adjusters keep the elbow armor in place regardless of what you are doing or fast you are doing it. The jacket is well-made and will afford the wearer protection from a spill. The armor in the elbows and shoulders are good. The back protector is not solid as a CE item and it isn't marketed as such but it isn't flimsy either. Because it is not a CE back pad, I upgraded to the CE one offered by compacc. The rain liner is good but I will do not use it since it turns the jacket into a sauna. The jacket is great for hot days I have used it in 110 degree days and was not more uncomfortable than wearing a long sleeve shirt. You are going to sweat so might as well be that much more safe.

Pros: leather in impact areas, mesh venting
    Cons: [None]

After a season of riding I decided it was time to replace my 1st jacket. The Radar jacket is my second motorcycle jacket. Im a new rider so I wanted to buy something economical and at a decent price, so I ended up buying a built jacket from a different brand for about 150 bucks. That jacket seemed nice at first but then as I rode more it didnt feel right, the armor felt cheap and it was too bulky for me.So when I saw an ad for the new Joe Rocket jacket I thought it was time to change. I cant say enough about the radar jacket It feels and looks amazing on me. I am 6 ft 180 lbs 42 inch chest muscularlean body and I ordered size 42. It fits tight on my body which its supposed to be and the sleeves are an inch shorter but it doesnt bother me because I wear gloves so they cover up the gap. Overall I am SOOO happy I bought this jacket from Comp-A.

Really nice - Dave A. from New York   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Nice leather, great quality, nice fit
Cons: a little short at the waist, a little expensive

Did lots of investigating into a good leather jacket for New York summer heat. This seamed to fit the bill. COMPACC.com has lowest price, and when calling they got me even a better one. When I recieved it, I was impressed with the jacket but was a little disappointed with the waist length. I am 6'-4, about 235 lbs. 38 waist with long arms. Everything was fine except for the waist length. THEN I actually sat on the bike sport tourer - Connie 14 and found the waist length to be perfect. Any longer and it would push up into the neckthroat area. Went for a decent ride on a fall day, about 60 degrees. Had on jacket , under armor base mock and a neck gator. I was extremely comfortable. I haven't tried it, but I can only assume that the vent jacket will be just as satisfying. Bottom line..Great jacket BTW I bought the 2XL. This size is at it's max for my size...if you're bigger, this might not be for you.

Pros: Comfortable fit, adjustable waist, easy to convert, great shoulder and elbow protection
Cons: None- I can't think of a single con

I bought this jacket over three years ago and absolutely love it. If you can't decide between a Mesh or a Leather, this jacket is for you. It combines both in a cheaper price then if you were to buy both kinds. In the winter, I wear it as a full leather with only an under armor shirt underneath. In the summer, I take of the front and back panels and wear it as a mesh. But, unlike other mesh jackets, when you wear this, you have leather shoulders and outer sleeves. I wear this in the Texas heat 100F with no issues. As stated above, the waist is adjustable and the arms have snaps just below the elbow to make the elbow protection snug. It is well made and the jacket's zippers are easy to use while wearing my gloves This jacket is worth every penny.

Pros: Still a great jacket overall
Cons: but they have cheapened the quality of some details

I picked up the neon yellow jacket so I could get on base without a separate reflective vest. Compared to the 2.0 jacket I have used for years the liner is not quite as nice, and the fit is still large in the shoulder area and narrow waisted. All in all still one of the best hot weather jackets, but note that the internal sunglass pocket is no longer waterproof, and there is no provision for running headphone cables out.

Great Jacket, good for athletic builds - jKsled   WI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Excellent warm weather jacket
    Cons: not much

Just received the jacket 1hr ago. Couldn't wait to go for a ride so I tested it out.Fit is great. I am 225, 6'5, athletic build, and I have had a heck of a time finding a jacket that fits. That is why I want to say this, for other people who have struggled like me. I ordered an XL Tall of this jacket due to other reviewers saying the jacket sizing is true. The fit is spot on for me. I would be cautious if you have a case rather than a six pack of beers down on the 'ole gut, the waistline will be a tight fit. Otherwise, the fit is great.Armor seems great, and very comfy. Its about 60 degrees here and I was just starting to get warm with the liner on. It is a very waterproof liner, so it won't let any sweat escape. That is the only problem I can foresee, if it is raining and warm out, your going to get wet either from sweat or rain. Otherwise, the jacket is great, and the mesh will be perfect for those warm summer days. It lets tons of air through and I quickly got so cold I had to throw the liner back in 60 degree day. The zippers all seem to be very good quality, as does the stitching.

With so many choices I had a hard time selecting the right jacket. I saw this one at my local dealer's for about 20 more than what Competition Accessories sells it for. Overall the jacket has a lot of adjustment to ensure the perfect fit. The removable liner makes it the perfect dual season jacket. I have already had it out in the rain and the jacket is 100 waterproof. I enjoy the internal pocket to hold my cell phone and money. There are plenty of vents to get air flowing in those 90 degree days. There are elbow vents, back vents, and chest vents, all of which are operated by zippers and are easy to open and close while on the bike except for the back vents. This jacket is well work the price and it stands out from the rest.

I asked a dealership mechanic about what mesh jacket he'd recommend. He didn't even hesitate: "Joe Rocket Phoenix." The fact the dealership didn't sell them makes the suggestion all the more amazing. Bottom line: he was right. I've been wearing this thing daily through two summers, and it's still doing a great job, and looking good doing it. Good fit, good comfort, good protection, and the waterproof liner makes it extremely flexible the water slides right off -- into your lap, so be aware of the puddle factor. It's not machine washable, but show me an item of motorcycle apparel that doesn't require dry cleaning. In short, I love this jacket so much that when people ask what they should buy, I don't even hesitate: "Joe Rocket Phoenix."

Loved how fast I received my order for my Joe Rocket Speedmaster Leather Jacket The Fit and comfort of this jacket is Excellent, especially the Non-Leather areas on the insidefront of the arms as this allows better movement. Quality is very nice except I do have one issue, the zippers on the sleeve just end with No snap or Velcro attachment to secure and protect the zippers This allows them to get caught and possibly ripped off, or worse, they are constantly unzipping on their own But otherwise a great jacket both in style, comfort, and price.

Nice jacket - Andy   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good features, good fit, god colors
    Cons: Neck closure

A nice jacket overall with adjustment closures in the right positions to snug the jacket up on you. Internal Velcro loops allow you to fit it to any pants with a belt and keep it in place. Neck closure is just a slightly raised ring and does not cover any of your neck allowing impact by bugs, or any other debris. Shame as everything else is top notch for a mid priced vented jacket. I am sure with the liner supplied with the jacket it will handle low temperatures as well as it does the hot ones here in Texas. Color selection allows you to pick something that will match just about any bike. Bought a yellow one and am buying a red one to wear with my other bike. Highly recommended.

I had a leather Joe Rocket jacket for over 10 years and it has kept me warm and comfortable. When it was time to replace it I wanted to find one that was very similar to what I had. This old school jacket fit the bill. The size is a little larger, but a large fit me really well and I am 190lbs and 5'11. The biggest thing was there was no armor and no pockets for armor. Also, one minor issue i had is the front zipper where the jacket is double stitched, the extra leather there always catch the zipper side edge. I just learn to use my index finger to hold back that area to zip up. unzipping doesn't cause the problem.

Great jacket, but too heavy for summer - DJP   MD Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: No big logos, warm, classic looks, good quality, removable panels increase ventilation on warmer days
Cons: Too heavy to wear on days warmer than 70

This was my first jacket and I'm very happy with it. The mechanics at my motorcycle shop ordered this jacket after seeing mine. The velcro and snaps make a snug custom fit possible, whether I am wearing a thick sweatshirt underneath or just a t-shirt. I am comfortable with just the jacket no liner in 50 degree weather but when it drops into the 40's I wear the liner. This is NOT a summer jacket though, at least not here in Maryland where the temperatures hit the 90's and the humidity is high. I find that this jacket is much too warm to wear when it is 70 degrees or warmer, even if I take out the removable panels. Sizewise I routinely wear an XL I'm 5'11 and 185 and in XL this jacket suits me well. The large was too snug for my taste but people my size who prefer tighter clothing might be happier with the large.

I love the cut and styling of the radar jacket. The 48 fit perfectly for a tall rider. I'm 6'3 255lbs and the sleeves reach just past my wrists when in a riding position. Only minor complaint is when the liner is in, trying to fit a long sleeve t shirt under the jacket is a bit snug in the arms but I'm a bigger guy. Otherwise excellent purchase. Pros: nice wind blocker, waterproof
Cons: not a stand alone jacket

I bought this liner to replace a crappy water resistant liner that came with a Fieldsheer mesh jacket I have. I like that this has it's own zipper so you could wear it underneather your mesh jacket without having to zip it in to the outer jacket. It does have a set of zippers & snaps to attach to a Joe Rocket jacket as well. For that reason, it looks weird to wear by itself. It does a nice job in rain & also works great as an extra layer on colder mornings. The liner has a light layer of fleece that provides a decent wind blocker for morning commutes when your on the fence about wearing a mesh jacket or something warmer. I've worn this comfortably on mornings as low as 50, under a mesh jacket. It packs up nice for the when the temps rise.

So, I tried it on and noticed the sleeves were a little too short and front didn't come past my belt buckle. The guy at compacc told me that it was normal but, style rides right along with safety if you ask me. I returned the medium and got a large instead. The large is acceptable and I'm a hell of a lot happy with it, that's for sure. My advise, go with a size larger than what you would normally wear and you shouldn't have any problems.

In warm temperatures the jacket is great, letting air through as you ride and still offering full protection. My only complaint is with the liner that comes with the jacket. It is not breathable and allows a great deal of condensation to form inside the jacket that can become uncomfortable chill wise in cool morning or night time temperatures. With all of the great breathable fabric technology out there, such as is used in kayaking gear, there really is no reason to be stuck using waterproof liners that are out of the mid eighties. If the liner was better, the jacket would be a 5.

Excellent ventilation for hot weather riding. Only complaint was broken adjustment strap located on jacket forearm.

no zipper - skullcrusher   OH Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: great looking jacket
Cons: does not have 8 inch zipper

Would have kept it but it had belt snap loops instead of an 8 inch zipper to attach to pants. Not sure if they have fixed the description or not. Too bad,I really liked the way it looked.

The comfort of the mesh is excellent. I ride behind a pretty large faring and things can get warm. The jacket provides a very acceptable level of airflow. In this respect, the jacket get 4 or 5 stars.
Now the downside: I am 160 lbs, 34" waist, 5-10"...pretty average guy. I order a large and the torso of the jacket was an excellent fit. The problem was that the shoulders were MUCH too wide resulting in the shoulder armor ending up entirely off my shoulder, down around mid-arm which is totally worthless. I was fortunate enough to have a friend that is a seamstress that altered the jacket - and the pouch that the armor is in - so that the jacket fits through the shoulders. I don't know the answer in as much as a medium would fit too tightly in the torso.

older is better - Russ   Recommended by Reviewer: No
Pros: let's a lot of air flo
Cons: less quality, for more money

My wife bought me a new one to replace my older faded one.I like the old one better, it has a collar that helps keep the sun off your neck. The new one does notOld one has snaps on fore arm and on Bicepts to draw up tighter.New one only has on fore armOld one has zippers on pockets that zip UP to close,.New one zips down Who ever heard of zipping down to close, it's not natural.I have lost items out of the pockets because of that, and one zipper keeps catching in the cloth.I have other joe rocket products, but when something is good older design leave it alone, don't try to improve on what works

Just OK... - J.Rocket 2.0 Sonic Leather   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Heavy elbow and spine guards
Cons: Snap broke and one pocket developed a hole at the seam after one month of wear.

OK overall. Quality leather, but bicep areas a little tight for the average arm with a 40 regular. Buff guys or workout types, forget it.

Do not buy this jacket - Ryan   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: None
    Cons: Many

Very low speed parking lot tip over. The seams on the right pocket shredded. This jacket would not hold up to a real speed accident, therefore no one should purchase it. My jacket was only worn 4 times. Both the joe Rocket customer service line and the local rep avoids and will not return calls. Joe rocket does not stand behind their cheaply made crap products
