Video Reviews
Hey whats up guys its Ruben at competiton accessories here checking out the HJC RPHA X offroad helmet. This is really the first premium offroadhelmet weve seen from HJC, they have taken alot from what they have learned from there moto GP top of the line RPS10 street helmet and they broughtit over and developed a very impressive off road helmet. Ive done quite a bit of off road riding and ive ridin in quite a few different brands ofoff road helmets and this is right up to par with all the other premium helmets on there. First things first is its very light weight which is goingto reduce neck fatiuqe which will help you be more competitive. It comes in at 2.92 pounds for the medium and large size model, which is very lightweight. The shell itself is constructed with premium integrated matrix design which incorporates carbon fiber aramid fibers and fiberglass, which creates a very ridgid strong shell. Basically if you go down and hit say a rock its going to spread the impact over the largest area possible, an then the eps foam inside the helmet is designed to slow your head down gently so that you dont get any brain injuries. If you just take a look at the aggressive designof the shell shape. Its going to be extremely aerodynamic and you do have an adjustable visor piece so that you can adjust this up and down dependingon the conditions, so if your in a real muddy race you can adjust this nice and low. Also its got good coverage on it if you wont a little more ventilationyou can raise it up obviously its removable and replaceable as well. Very aggresive ventilation vents as well in the past they've called it thereadvanced channeling ventilation system and this is something they've brought over from there road race helmets, but if you look at the front of thistheres air intakes on the mouth guard. Here you have intakes right along the top of the brow thats going to bring air right around the top of your googlesand theres channels that we'll look at in a minute that go up inside underneath the visor peak which might be hard to see. There are actually small ventsas well those are going to function almost like ram air scoops. Air is going to be channeled in underneath this visor peak and be forced down insidethe vents on the helmet, there are more vents at the top of the shell here bringing in more air and then at the back you have some exhaust vents. Exhaustingwarm air out of the helmet is one of the best ways to get hot air out and keep you comfortable as you ride. Low pressures kind of generate in behind thehelmet here and that kind of draws the warm air right out the back of the helmet. Inside the helmet you have what they call there cool forever fabricthis is an advanced new fabric it has ginkgo extract in the fibers. Its designed specifically to moisture wick but also not get hot so those hot ridesyou know typically even if its not really hot outside alot of times your working hard when your riding off road so your sweating alot, and this is goingto do a really good job managing all that moisture and keeping you cool as you ride. You can remove the interior as well so for cleaning up the cheek padsand the rest of the helmet your going to be able to pull the inside out. Theres basically three snaps and a tab around the side of the cheek pad so youcan see it is a nice contoured cheek pad design on the inside there, and then you can also remove the crown liner couple snaps at the back and thenaround the front of the crown. When they do it this way you have some tabs around the crown that prevents any snaps, velcro in this area from being right onyour forehead so it attaches out in front of the shell itself so its not creating any pressure points. It is a nice open design so you will see that thereis plenty of ventilation so its going to get right through to your skin to keep you more comfortable. Look at the inside here you do have air channelsbuilt in and you'll see that theres plenty of holes in there so that all that air flow can come in and breathe through out the whole helmet and keepyou comfortable for those long hot motos. RPHA X retails at around the 350 dollar market a little more for some of the graphics and around that mark forthe solids. So you can check those out online on our website at and see what our current pricing is. Very impressive helmetvery light very well thought out very well engineered and a nice design. Also there are different graphics available as well as solids you can checkthose out online. Cons: Tight fit on the side of forehead

To Replace 10 year old Arai RX7, and this is lighter and as aerodynamic as the more expensive helmet. Snell approved. I have a very round head and The HJC is more oval shape than I like. I hope it's broken in more as I ride with it more.

HJC RPHA X - Ride Michigan   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: lightweight, comfortable, good ventilation,
    Cons: none

I used to race off-road and have owned several top of the line helmets. I've been out of dirt biking for several years and just got back in to it this year. I purchased the RPHA X Tempest, wore it during an enduro and kinda forgot about the helmet. I guess you could say it is comfortable if you don't think about it during your ride. The helmet fits well, is lightweight, goggles fit nicely, ventilation is good, cant't beat the price, no complaints Thankfully, haven't tested the crashworthiness of it....yet

HJC RPHA-10 - Rich L.   MN Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light, quiet, comfortable, noticeable airflow.
Cons: Shield whistle when fully open, could use stronger detents for the shield.

As mentioned in other reviews, this helmet does tend to run a little on the small side. I normally wear a XL and according to HJC's sizing chart for THIS helmet, there is a separate chart for the RPHA series I would need a 2XL to fit my melon. Sure enough, the 2XL fits me like every other XL I've owned. It's a racing inspired helmet, it's supposed to be snug, but if you order the size you normally wear, it will likely be uncomfortably tight. With that out of the way, it's a great helmet and I love it. With the shield down and latched it is the smoothest, quietest helmet I've had. I wear glasses and I typically ride with the shield cracked open slightly or fully upright. In this position I get a mildly annoying wind whistle noticeable with earplugs in and the shield won't stay up and will drop once roadwind speed is high enough. Slightly stronger detents for the screen would be helpful here. The center latch is great easy access with either thumb. Glassessunglasses access is good, no interference from temple padding. So far I've only ridden with it in the heat of summer and the airflow is great. You can feel it pulling heat off the top of your head. I love the CAGE graphic sporty looking without being overly busy or gaudy. Paint quality appears near flawless and it looks to have a decent clearcoat over everything. It should hold up well.

Pros: great fit, quality and reasonably quiet
    Cons: not quiet enough

fabulous snug fit makes the RPHA 10 the best HJC helmet yet and the best fitting helmet I have ever worn which includes owning the A brand and the S brand. While wind noise is reduced, it is still not eliminated. For the money, there may be nothing better,

NICE - marco   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: light weight, air flow, comfort
    Cons: scratches easily,

I have owned several helmets over the years for racing an open cockpit car. I used an older one when I first got my new bike. The first ride with my FG-17 was a whole new level of comfort. Less wind noise, less lift when you turn your head at speed and GREAT air flow inside the helmet for comfort and anti fogging. I would and will buy another one for my wife to ride with me. They fit snug at first but loosen up over time.

HJC RPHA-10 Evoke Helmet - Rich B   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: well constructed helmet comfortable helmet looks outstanding comes with the pinlock system
Cons: none that I can think of

Let me start off by saying this is one comfortable helmet. I appreciate the fact that the helmet comes with the pin lock system which costs 26.99 if purchased separately. The graphics on this lid are top notch. I was concerned about the visor and the locking system. After a few times of locking down the shield while driving solved any issues I could have had. You can lock the latch with one hand with gloves on. To completely remove the shield is a breeze also. I like the fact that I can remove most of the padding inside the helmet for cleaning. You simply drop them in the washing machine and let them air dry before reinstalling them. The helmet is Snell and DOT approved which means a lot to me. If there was a shortfall I would say say it is in the ventilation system. I live in Florida and of course it gets hot in the summer. There seems to be no big difference if I open the two top vents all the way as opposed to a lower setting.

Pros: The helmet is light weight and extremely comfortable
    Cons: There is wind noise

Great Helmet - Bret   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Very Light, well ventilated and comfortable
Cons: Sizing if you are on the edge

This is a very nice helmet especially for the money. It is as comfortable as my Aria and so far seems as well put together. I am on the lower end of an xl from their sizing chart but is seems like it may end up a little to big after it packs out. Overall though my next helmet will be another one of these just maybe in a large.

    Pros: Light weight and comfortable
    Cons: [None]

I haven't had much of a chance to wear this helmet as it is winter. However, the helmet fits as my previous HJC helmets, so no surprises there. It is significantly lighter than my previous HJC helmets. CompAcc got it to my door in a timely manner.

Great deal at close out price - Brian   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Scratch resistant face-shields that are replaceable, generous padding, good value
Cons: Matte black looks very easy to scratch, HJC logo is on when matte is not supposed to have

I have to agree with the previous review that the chin strap should be longer and I wouldn't say I have a thick neck. I'll use my new helmet for the first time tomorrow and will update after that experience. I can say that buying from Competition Accessories was a great experience. Product was shown not in stock and still delivered in less than a week. Will purchase again from them for sure.

Force Helmet - Belkerx3   MO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Beautiful helmet
    Cons: Fits very tight

I waited nearly 3 months to receive my new Force helmet. This is a very nice helmet. Fit and finish is very good. I had some trouble fitting my J&M speakers into the shallow speaker pockets. I typically wear an XL HJC helmet. This one is so tight I thought I got the wrong size. I cannot hardly fit my sunglasses due to the tightness. Hopefully it will break in soon and loosen up. It is very tight I do love the high viz color. I would buy another one, it's that good.

Pros: Great Style, Light-weight, Excellent Value, Very Comfortable, Pinlock Included, etc.
Cons: Blue is NOT like photo

Love the RPHA-10 helmet - see all the Pros. I usually wear top-of-the-line ARAI, but heard about this helmet, tried it on, and I was sold But, it should say Red, White, and Blue-ish Black. The Blue is not bright like the picture, but a deep and dark blue-ish black. I was extremely disappointed when I took the helmet out of the bag and will be taking it back. P.S. there is an R at the forehead, not HJC I liked this. I would recommend the HJC RPHA-10, but not the Zappy color.

Beautiful Helmet - Big-D   AZ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Color Scheme is awesome, extremely light weight, very comfortable, allows for perfect fit and visability
    Cons: Sizes run Small

I first purchased this helmet in a Large. I have several other helmets in various brands and they are all in Large and fit very nicely. However, this helmet in a Large was way too tight, so much so I bought another in a X-Large. Now it fits perfect so I can wear this helmet for really long period with no pain or discomfort from it being too tight. And it is not too big either, the fit is perfect.I would have rated this helmet a 5-Star except because I had worn the first helmet in Large, I was not able to return it and had to purchase a second in XL. Ultimately costing me twice as much. However, I like this helmet so much, it was worth it to me to make the double purchase. The other helmet in Large I gave it to a very good friend that it fit just right. The construction of this helmet meets or exceeds the much higher priced helmets in the 600 price range

Beautiful Helmet - Big-D   AZ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Super Light Weight, Great Graphics, Superb Construction, Comfortable once on
Cons: Size runs a little small, really right putting over head.

Although my helmet size has always run border line between a Large & Extra-Large, it seems every helmet I have ever bought, the large has always fit just right the way a helmet should fit, while I have bought two helmets in Extra-Large only to have them move around too much, being told they were too big for me.After receiving this HJC RPHA-X Factor helmet in Large, I couldn't wait to slip it on. When first putting it on, it almost wouldn't go over my head. Realizing its new and may need to adjust to my head shape, I forced it over my head. Once on, it fit snug, but comfortable. It doesn't feel overly tight, nor do I think it will make my head sore. The only problem at this point is the initial fitting over my head. It seems the opening is really tight, almost as though it has the opening on a Medium and the shell is a large.I will try it for several rides and see how it feels once broke in. I love the helmet. It is one of the finest looking helmets I've ever owned and I have 11 helmets from several manufacturers.

Good Helmet - sono   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Price, Weight, Graphics
    Cons: Fit, Quality, Comfort

I have a very round head and thought that this helmet would work. Well, it does to a degree, but it squashes my cheeks like my grandma used to. The channel in the inside padding that is supposed to work for sunglasses is entirely in the wrong place... making it impossible for me to use them. My nose can use them tho. The quality of materials seems a bit cheap, but the helmet is cheap, so I can't complain too much. Ventilation isn't the greatest and I cannot believe that I had to spend an additional 7 for a chin vent. Please just include it for a couple more . Overall, good helmet, but not going to be my daily - more like backup or passenger.

The sizing information is provided by the manufacturer and does not guarantee a perfect fit. However, we are happy to assist you with any needed exchanges.

Note: the RPHA-Max seems to run a little smaller due to the thick padding and smaller overall shell design. Most size exchanges have been to up a size. So if you are on the fence. We recommend thinking about going up a size to start. However, please keep in mind the padding will break in some and a helmet that is a little tight vs. too loose for safety.
