Video Reviews
Hey guys this is Reuben with Competition Accessories and welcome to our video review of the HJC FG-17 helmet. Now this is a new full face helmet from HJC that uses their advanced fiber glass shell. This is a mid lined to upper level helmet for HJC, one step down from the RPHA-10. They have brought some design influences from the RPHA-10 which is their top of the line road race helmet. This helmet retails around the 200 dollar mark depending on the solid or graphic that you pick. The one I have in front of me is actually the Jorge Lorenzo replica helmet. Its going to be a little more expensive in the price range but still a very good value for a fiberglass shell helmet. I will give you a 360 view of this helmet because of the graphic. We will throw this up on the scale to see how much it weighs and it is 3.60 lbs. If your not aware some helmet graphics actually add a little bit of weight to the helmet unlike the solids which will be the lightest weight. Your right around that 3.5 lbs mark so fairly light weight it is not a super super light weight helmet but it is also not a very heavy helmet. Few different key things to point out about design right off the bat, first they have brought over a similar face shield to the RPHA-10. Its not the exact same face shield but it uses the center locking mechanism. I personally been riding in a RPHA-10 for a while and it has this feature. It takes a little bit of getting used to but essentially when it clicks into place it locks and really pulls the face shield tight against the gasket. It gives you a really good seal so your not getting any extra wind noise or water that can run down inside the shield. It also helps to lock the shield on if you are on the track or doing higher speed runs or head checks that wind is not going to suck it ope or move your face shield. Another thing that is nice is it is right in the center of the face shield so you can open it up with either hand. Give it a press and it unlocks with this little latch. We will talk about the base plat mechanism real quick, this is called their rapid fire 2. This is a very easy base plate mechanism to operate, there is a spring lever on the side like a trigger and you pull that back and you can see the shield pops right off. As you can see on the inside of the face shield you see a recess are around the shield, and that is actually for the pinlock max vision shield. It is a flexible pane that you install on the inside of the shield and what it does is create a dual pane lens to help stop fogging. The max vision actually extends all the way to the top and bottom along with the sides of the face shield so that way it is not in your peripheral vision. The reason it has the recess in the face shield is so that way it can actually sit in the shield and will not get in the way of the gasket when you are lifting it up. You have an internal breathe deflector that is included as well. It nice and soft and that will help keep your breathe up off the face shield and it will help reduce fog. You have a nice chin bar vent, and also their advanced channeling ventilation system. So you have 2 intake scoops at the upper portion of the helmet that operate with just these simple rocker switches. So very easy to operate with gloves on and they are going to function just like ram air scoops so while your riding air is going to be forced down inside the helmet flow through the back and then if you spin it in it has a really nice looking integrated spoiler on the back of this helmet. You also have some exhaust vents integrated in that as well. That is going to help draw that warm air right out the back of the helmet. Once we pull the insides out you will actually see how the air channels throughout the inside of the helmet. Speaking of the interior this has what HJC calls their silvercool lining, this is a anti-bacterial material and moisture wicking and does a good job keeping you comfortable. You will see the opening on this helmet is fairly snug which is a good thing that is going to help give you a really good seal around the base of the helmet and around the cheeks and neck. Standard D-ring closure with a nice little HJC pull tab. You can fully remove the interior as well so if you need to freshen the helmet up its 3 little snaps and the cheek pad comes right out. You can see it is a nice contoured cheek pad as is familiar with most HJC helmets. I will pull out the entire interior so you can take a look here, The crown liner has just a couple snaps at the back and the tab that runs around the front. You will see it is very open and they use several different density's of foam to keep it comfortable and its open so that air can flow throughout the helmet. If I open this up you can see those intake holes at the top from the air scoops that we pointed out on the front of the helmet and there is 3 holes at the back of the helmet for those exit vents. Also there are some channels for the air flow through the helmet towards the back. Cheek pads are low profile in the ear area, there are no actual built in recesses for the speakers, most communication systems have fairly low profile speakers to begin with and it shouldnt be an issue but if your looking for a helmet that has specific spots for the speakers this one does not have that. This helmet is positioned more for the sport guy or street guy it does not have a drop down internal sun visor but it is a snell 2010 approved helmet. If your looking for a helmet you can take to the race track or do some track days and you need that snell certified or you feel more comfortable with a helmet that has passed those snell standards then this is a great helmet for you guys. For a price point for around 200 bucks you can jump on our website to view our current pricing is on it. I will go ahead and reinstall the shield for you its very easy and straight forward there is a tab on back and a pin on the front and you simple line those up and give it a press and it will lock in. You can check out the FG-17 on our website at competition accessories dont forget you can earn up to 5% comp a cash back to use towards future purchases if you click on that link in the upper right hand corner you can subscribe to our youtube channel to view all our latest video and product reviews. Superb Helmet, MUST BUY FOR THE MONEY - 2y4life   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: [None]
    Cons: [None]

Rating- Using your basic 1-10 scale or my own MMAPro Wrestling scale.1 Deplorabe. They couldn't pay me enough to wear it regularly unless it was in the 3 figure range lol, then I'd consider it. A Kenneth Allen3 Pretty bad. I would not buy it, again, unless I was paid, I will skip on this helmetfeature. A Shungo Oyama5 Average, maybe I'd buy it again and maybe I wouldn't depending on the circumstances. I think we all know what a 5 is or what average means. A Phil Baroni.7 Pretty good, or above average. I would likely buy it again or the feature is something I could live with and not complain much. A Heath Herringgate keeper.10 Cream of the crop, the holy grail. The Royce Gracie of the 90s or Fedor of the earlymid 2000s or GSP of the late 2000s and early 2010s. Simply put, cannot be defeated.PriceThe RPHA-10 is now available at a few places for 199 on closeout which is ridiculous and a deciding factor in my purchase. This helmet, when it first came out, had an MSRP 359-554 depending on the graphics with the Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo Replicas being the most expensive one. Most places are still selling them at 300 for just the solids, ahem RevZilla. So to be able to nab a supposedly great helmet at 50 off was just too good of a deal to let it pass by. 9.510 or Anderson Silva- Those PEDs helped a bitSafetyIsn't this the reason we get these things Well, it's a day old and only 65miles on the noggin so I'll just get to the stats and go to the next area of interest. SNELL M2010 and DOT certified. 810 simply because it is not ECE R22.05 or Robbie LawlerFitComfortThe helmet is obviously a bit more of a race fit helmet but I assume most of us have worn an race fit helmet before. Snug but man this one fit like a glove. Within seconds, I didn't even notice I was wearing. I would say this helmet fits more of a neutral shape, some say round but it is not round like the CL-17. Definitely more neutral or maybe even slightly on the more narrow ovalintermediate oval than a true round. Love the fit, the liner felt better than I remember from trying it on a few months ago the liner is very plush and just has a great quality feel to it. Feels like a soft pillow all around my head the moment I put it on and then it disappears completely, figuratively speaking. I tried on my CL-17 and the Multitec and there was a big change. It also feels better than my old RF-1100 as well.8.510 or Chris WiedmanFace ShiedVisionThe eye port here, vertically is just average if you look at just the dimensions of the. The width of the shield is above average. With that said, there's a difference when you put it on and actually look through the eye port. Unlike my modular Shoei and the CL-17, I can actually see more vertically in this helmet than my previous 4 helmets RF-1100 included. I'm not sure because I measured the vertical visor size and it's basically the same as my CL-17 but once it's on, I can barely see the top of the visor. It's really in the way the helmet sits or wraps around my head. It allows me to see more than my other three helmets. The width is exceptional as well. I can see my nearly my entire peripheral vision with little hindrance. I almost have to turn my head to see the sides of my visor, or the edge of the helmet.Outside of what I consider outstanding vision, it comes with a pinlock ready shield AND a free clear pinlock insert. No need to spend another 30 or more for an insert although a light smoke would've been my preference. 9.510 or Prime motivated BJ PennVentilationAirflowAgain, I wish I had my RF-1100 so I could compare but I don't and so this is where it gets a bit washy. The ventilation and airflow on this is excellent, much better than the Multitec and CL-17. Immediately I could feel the airflow from the top vent, free air just coming in. I want to say the top ventilation was, at the very least, as great as the 1100 but I'm going off what I remember from over a year ago. My head feels massive air coming in and I mean that by helmet standards. With that said, the lower vent feels very substandard. I haven't been on the highway much so maybe at high speeds for a distance and my mind will change but as it stands, very substandard. I felt the 1100 had more air flowing through the chin vent and the CL-17 DOES have a bit more airflow as well. Because of that, the rating will go down quite a bit. If it was just based on the top vent, it'd be a 9. All things considered, still more airflow than the CL-17 but not quite as much as the RF-1100 and slightly above average. 710 or Frank TriggNoise LevelOddly enough, maybe it's the shape of my head but this helmet is noisier than the RF-1100 and my CL-17. It's about the same as the modular Multitec. I was a bit disappointed and this is one area that I don't think will get better with time. Even though it has a great chin curtain, the air doesn't seem to seal around my neck well and that's where the air enters. I've taken my hand and put it around my neck like a single hand chock and it's eerily silent and I don't feel like my neck is that thin so I'm not sure why. This is the one true knock on this helmet and will receive my lowest rating although I wear ear plugs if I ride longer than 10 mins on the highway. 510 or Shonie CarterWeightThis is where this helmet really excels and could be seen in the comfortfit section there's a reason it's so comfortable and while the liner plays a huge role, the weight or lack thereof is equally important. As I mentioned earlier, immediately after putting it on and feeling that soft plush feel, the helmet sort of just vanishes. The vision is great, liner wonderful, and helmet so light that I literally didn't feel the helmet. I must say that I've have never owned a CF helmet so I am not sure how that would feel and I know that would likely be lighter but I looked at the stats this morning and sure enough, I was not deceived by my senses or that new gear feeling. My XL came in at 1576grams3.47lbs. While I don't have my RF-1100, I do have the stats available online. The RF-1100 in XL is 1746grams3.85lbs. The HJC CL-17 in XL came in at 1754grams3.87lbs. While the numbers seem small, I really do feel a HUGE difference. 910 or Chuck LiddellOverall I was hesitant to get another HJC due to the CL-17 feeling like just a decent helmet but nothing special like my two previous Shoei helmets. This RPHA-10 changed my mind completely. I honestly don't believe I could get anything at 199 and get all the things I got here. Overall, I would have to give the helmet 910 or Johnny HendricksIf you want a helmet for 200 or less and not worry about it feeling less than premium, this is definitely the one to get. I will update this in two weeks and see how things go.PS, my heart feels like this helmet is a 9.5 mainly due to how great of a deal it was but my head stabilizes things and tells me it's an 8 right now after 65 miles and two days.

Pros: good quality, cool graphic, completely removeable liner
    Cons: none

My wife has been looking for this helmet at a reasonable price for quite a while. When it popped up on CA the price was more than reasonable but the sizes were and naturally her size wasn't available. Fortunately CA stocks the replacement liners so I purchased a liner and we have her helmet in her size. We still paid less than other sites are asking for the helmet.

Pros: quiet, cool, great viz, lightweight
    Cons: none yet

Only have a few hours road time but love this helmet. So quiet and no buffeting on head checks. Had another HJC so knew the size and fits great. Bought on sale and feel like I stole it. A lot of helmet for the money. Looks great, too. Subtle graphics. Enjoy riding without the face shield, too, so replaced both my summer and winter helmets.

To Replace 10 year old Arai RX7, and this is lighter and as aerodynamic as the more expensive helmet. Snell approved. I have a very round head and The HJC is more oval shape than I like. I hope it's broken in more as I ride with it more.

    Pros: lightweight, comfortable, good ventilation,
    Cons: none

I used to race off-road and have owned several top of the line helmets. I've been out of dirt biking for several years and just got back in to it this year. I purchased the RPHA X Tempest, wore it during an enduro and kinda forgot about the helmet. I guess you could say it is comfortable if you don't think about it during your ride. The helmet fits well, is lightweight, goggles fit nicely, ventilation is good, cant't beat the price, no complaints Thankfully, haven't tested the crashworthiness of it....yet

HJC RPHA-10 - Rich L.   MN Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light, quiet, comfortable, noticeable airflow.
Cons: Shield whistle when fully open, could use stronger detents for the shield.

As mentioned in other reviews, this helmet does tend to run a little on the small side. I normally wear a XL and according to HJC's sizing chart for THIS helmet, there is a separate chart for the RPHA series I would need a 2XL to fit my melon. Sure enough, the 2XL fits me like every other XL I've owned. It's a racing inspired helmet, it's supposed to be snug, but if you order the size you normally wear, it will likely be uncomfortably tight. With that out of the way, it's a great helmet and I love it. With the shield down and latched it is the smoothest, quietest helmet I've had. I wear glasses and I typically ride with the shield cracked open slightly or fully upright. In this position I get a mildly annoying wind whistle noticeable with earplugs in and the shield won't stay up and will drop once roadwind speed is high enough. Slightly stronger detents for the screen would be helpful here. The center latch is great easy access with either thumb. Glassessunglasses access is good, no interference from temple padding. So far I've only ridden with it in the heat of summer and the airflow is great. You can feel it pulling heat off the top of your head. I love the CAGE graphic sporty looking without being overly busy or gaudy. Paint quality appears near flawless and it looks to have a decent clearcoat over everything. It should hold up well.

    Pros: Ventilation,
    Cons: None

I have been riding for about 25 years and owned several helmets in that time. I guess you can say I'm cheap I don't like to spend more than 120 for a helmet I'm going to wear for only 2-3 years. This helmet is better than most that I have paid 110 - 120.It's as quit as some helmets but quieter than most I have had, I can see clear without distortion, the fit is good not tight not loose , Here in Jersey it can get uncomfortably humid this helmet keeps the air flowing. I asume a 200 and more helmet would work better but but how much better

Pretty awesome - DJ   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Nice fit, quiet, very comfortable, great feel
Cons: A bit tight, but in a good way.

After a recent motorcycle accident, my convertible Bell Revolver's pull down faceplate ripped away during the collision. While the Bell protected the old melon fine, I was really lucky that I landed on my back. I subsequently visited Snell Foundation and found out that they do not at this time approve convertible helmets, so I decided not only would my next helmet be Snell approved, but it would be a full face helmet. After reading the reviews, it appeared to me that the RPHA would best meet my needs. My head size is right between a medium and a large. A bit of a cone-head you might say. I ordered the large size to be sure. I was surprised that it was such a tight fit, and to be honest I wasn't sure I would like it. I decided to give it a full tryout, and I'm glad that I did. It took me awhile to figure out how to comfortably put on by pulling down more or less from the back and taking off the reverse while holding the soft chin guard away from my nose. Anyway, it didn't take long to realize just how comfortable this helmet really is. From a wind viewpoint, this helmet is really pretty quiet too, though I do still wear earplugs for the longer hauls. Yep, I like it a lot.

Pros: light weight, air flow, comfort
    Cons: scratches easily,

I have owned several helmets over the years for racing an open cockpit car. I used an older one when I first got my new bike. The first ride with my FG-17 was a whole new level of comfort. Less wind noise, less lift when you turn your head at speed and GREAT air flow inside the helmet for comfort and anti fogging. I would and will buy another one for my wife to ride with me. They fit snug at first but loosen up over time.

    Pros: Quiet, comfortable, light, strong
    Cons: [None]

I upgraded my helmet from an HJC polycarbonate helmet to this helmet for many reasons and VERY HAPPY that I did. I really enjoy the light weight of this helmet as there is little to no neck fatigue after riding all day long. Knowing that is made of fiberglass and has a very strong shell puts my mind at ease so I can focus on riding rather than worrying if my helmet will hold up to a potential accident. The 2 air vents on top provide adequate flow to keep your head from sweating and the large vent in front does the same thing and very easy to close and open. I got the matte black color and think it looks awesome. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend this helmet to everyone I know. You wont be disappointed.

HJC RPHA 10 - Excellent helmet at a great price - George   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light Weight, Great Fit, Top Ventilation, Excellent Price Value
    Cons: Paint quality

I had been shopping for several months to replace a trusty HJC AC10 which has been an excellent helmet for the past 10 years. I had narrowed my choices to Shoei RF-1100, Shoei Qwest and the HJC RPHA 10. The fit was similar on the three helmets for me. The two Shoei helmets share basically the same shell and underpinnings the RF-1100 provides more vents, stabilizer spoiler and a higher price. I went back and forth on the three, especially since the Shoei helmets to feel nicer on the inside the liner feels softer and less scratchy, especially when trying it back-to-back with the HJC. Once I got the RPHA 10 and wore it, the liner turned out to be a non-issue.However, when considering the features vs. price 249 for the RPHA 10 as of July 2013, it became an easier choice. Brands are nice, but quality, comfort, durability and performance matter more. I chose the RPHA 10 and the experience so far has been positive. I rode several hundred miles of SoCal canyon, mountain, desert and freeway roads in the first week, with temps ranging from low 60s to 80. The helmet is very light, and the weight is noticeable, especially when riding in windy conditions - this was one of the main reasons I chose it. In addition, the top ventilation works very well - another big plus in my view. The face shield locking mechanism is good - some folks complain about the metal locking clasp I found it to be no problem, easy to close and open. If you ride with your visor half open, the clasp will be in your line of sight, however. The noise level is good, and on par with my AC10, which was a fairly quiet helmet. I will note that I always wear ear plugs when riding, regardless of helmet. The decibel levels at 60 mph are as loud as airport traffic taking off when compounded over years of riding, they could lead to hearing loss. The only drawback seems to be the quality of the paint. I ordered the light silver and while there are no chips in the paint, the thickness is not as solid-looking or feeling as some of its competitors. In fact, the paint on my old HJC AC10 seems more robust. Of course, this may be an issue on my particular helmet, or the fact that being a solid color, is more prone to noticeable paint imperfections.Otherwise, this is a solid choice for a full-face helmet, and weighing its attributes vs. cost, it is one of the best values on the market, if the fit is right for you.

Pros: Looks awesome, Best fit for round heads, Very light
    Cons: None

The best helmet from all my collection from Arai corsair v, Shoei x12, hjc rpha modular helmet. It took only few hrs to break in my round head, no pressure spots, good looking bright colors, the paddings are soft around my face and head. Competition Accessories have the cheapest price around. Buy it, you will love it

Excellent Lid for the - LaXPA   WI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Lightweight, cool, very comfortable liner, good crown ventilation, and quiet
    Cons: Only fair chinbar ventilation

I have previously had two or three HJC helmets over the years, and generally liked them. In middle age, I figured I could afford a little better lid for riding my Super Tenere. Not something in the 500 to 900 dollar range, mind you, but something more than 129.I tried a Shoei Qwest at the local shop and found it to be the wrong shape for my head. I then ordered a Nolan N85 and really wanted to like it. The shell was beautifully finished, had the pinlock insert included, and was pretty well reviewed. But the lining seemed rough on my sparsely covered head, and it was hard to get on and off. So I returned that and tried the RPHA 10. Heaven Very nice quality, cool and comfortable interior, pinlock insert, pretty good ventilation, and VERY light weight for my arthritic neck. And the new graphic R on the front is not quite as cheap looking as the old HJC decal. I'm very happy for my 249. Got the bright yellow color for visibility.

looks like a million bucks - mx586   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Looks awesome, great fit.
    Cons: a little warm,

I was a little worried about trying a different brand, normally were shoei. I loved the graphics on this helmet and thought the price was more reasonable than the shoei's. Also the shields are a little cheaper. When I got this helment I was blown away by how great it looks. Lots of features, like the chin guard, and the breath deflector, pin lock lens included etc. Fits great, it reminds me of the troy lee se helmet the way it fits. Snug but you can feel the air channels on the top of the helmet. This helmet is very quiet and seems light. It seems a little warm but thats to be expected with this much padding and safety. I think at highway speeds the vents will draw more air. I wasnt sure about the center locking shield when I bought it, but now I'm sold. It works good and doesn't get in the way at all.

Pros: well constructed helmet comfortable helmet looks outstanding comes with the pinlock system
Cons: none that I can think of

Let me start off by saying this is one comfortable helmet. I appreciate the fact that the helmet comes with the pin lock system which costs 26.99 if purchased separately. The graphics on this lid are top notch. I was concerned about the visor and the locking system. After a few times of locking down the shield while driving solved any issues I could have had. You can lock the latch with one hand with gloves on. To completely remove the shield is a breeze also. I like the fact that I can remove most of the padding inside the helmet for cleaning. You simply drop them in the washing machine and let them air dry before reinstalling them. The helmet is Snell and DOT approved which means a lot to me. If there was a shortfall I would say say it is in the ventilation system. I live in Florida and of course it gets hot in the summer. There seems to be no big difference if I open the two top vents all the way as opposed to a lower setting.

Pros: Everything about this helmet is good, it's my third HJC Helmet and I love it.
    Cons: Nothing

Everything about this helmet is good, it's my third HJC Helmet and I love it. I also ordered the chin curtain and nose piece, after trying to install the chin curtain I read the owner manual and realize you should not. So don't order it, will be a waste of time. Also the nose piece worked nice at first , but after my second ride I turned my head and had a big gust of wind get past the nose piece and had to close my eyes. So again don't order the nose piece, I took it off and noticed the helmet works great with out it. The helmet itself is great, the picture does not do it justice. Looks 10 times better than the picture.

I did a lot of research and trying on of other helmets prior to ordering this one online. Overall, it's a good pricesafety ratio, with a cool design. However, I believe it runs a little tight and is made for only some head shapes - I lent it to my friends and they did not find it very comfortable.

Pros: light weight, comfortable, nice interior, shield latch, cooling features
Cons: more wind noise than expected

I wanted a very light weight helmet that was also of good quality. This helmet fits the need very well. The Large fits comfortably, even though I have a narrow is slightly tighter than a normal HJC Large, but I believe this is due to it being designed as a racing helmet. Also, I like the latch mechanism on the face shield, it creates a good seal. The cooling features also seem to work pretty well. The only down-side is that it could be more quiet...not that it's bad...but in this price range I expected less wind noise. Overall a great helmet though.

Cons: Wind from under the helmet is the greatest source of airflow.

I got my CL-16 from a local dealer and am very pleased with this helmet for the price. It does have issues with air coming in the bottom but having the pinlock visor keeps from having it fog up. I would recommend this helmet as a great entry level helmet as it is both DOT and SNELL approved.

    Cons: Fits very tight

I waited nearly 3 months to receive my new Force helmet. This is a very nice helmet. Fit and finish is very good. I had some trouble fitting my J&M speakers into the shallow speaker pockets. I typically wear an XL HJC helmet. This one is so tight I thought I got the wrong size. I cannot hardly fit my sunglasses due to the tightness. Hopefully it will break in soon and loosen up. It is very tight I do love the high viz color. I would buy another one, it's that good.

Pros: Looks great. Good air flow. Initial snug fit, but not bad. Should loosen up.
    Cons: Extremely noisy

Just got this helmet. Upgraded from a CL-14 that I've had for 5-6 years. Visor changes are a snap - 10 seconds. My big complaint is the noise. First tried it without ear plugs. Sounds like a freight train going through a tunnel. Just brutal. Then tried it with plugs. Somewhat better, but stll to loud. My old CL-14 is more quiet without plugs as the Shock is with plugs. If you can, try one out before you lay down your green. Disappointed to say the least.

The Blue is not bright like the picture, but a deep and dark blue-ish black. I was extremely disappointed when I took the helmet out of the bag and will be taking it back. Pros: Color Scheme is awesome, extremely light weight, very comfortable, allows for perfect fit and visability
    Cons: Sizes run Small

I first purchased this helmet in a Large. I have several other helmets in various brands and they are all in Large and fit very nicely. However, this helmet in a Large was way too tight, so much so I bought another in a X-Large. Now it fits perfect so I can wear this helmet for really long period with no pain or discomfort from it being too tight. And it is not too big either, the fit is perfect.I would have rated this helmet a 5-Star except because I had worn the first helmet in Large, I was not able to return it and had to purchase a second in XL. Ultimately costing me twice as much. However, I like this helmet so much, it was worth it to me to make the double purchase. The other helmet in Large I gave it to a very good friend that it fit just right. The construction of this helmet meets or exceeds the much higher priced helmets in the 600 price range

Beautiful Helmet - Big-D   AZ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Super Light Weight, Great Graphics, Superb Construction, Comfortable once on
Cons: Size runs a little small, really right putting over head.

Although my helmet size has always run border line between a Large & Extra-Large, it seems every helmet I have ever bought, the large has always fit just right the way a helmet should fit, while I have bought two helmets in Extra-Large only to have them move around too much, being told they were too big for me.After receiving this HJC RPHA-X Factor helmet in Large, I couldn't wait to slip it on. When first putting it on, it almost wouldn't go over my head. Realizing its new and may need to adjust to my head shape, I forced it over my head. Once on, it fit snug, but comfortable. It doesn't feel overly tight, nor do I think it will make my head sore. The only problem at this point is the initial fitting over my head. It seems the opening is really tight, almost as though it has the opening on a Medium and the shell is a large.I will try it for several rides and see how it feels once broke in. I love the helmet. It is one of the finest looking helmets I've ever owned and I have 11 helmets from several manufacturers.

I tried the helmet on for first time today. Right from the start, I knew this helmet will work out. Somehow the designers of this helmet had the formula for head shapes like mine read German Block. I tried the Nolan...One fit and the helmet went back in the box and sent back.Next choice was the Scorpion EXO-500...This is a great Helmet but the Air Fit pump thing made for too tight a fit in the cheeks and this was without pumping it up. Back in the box it went.If you are thinking of ordering one of these you might try up sizing one size.I'll post more info. when I get helmet time with this unit.I hope this info.helps someone find the right helmet on the first try.Ride Safeps And yes...I ride a BMW

Ventilation is good, not great, but as good if not marginally better than my other HJC and leaps better than my real heavy EXO-1000 though EXO has inner screen, etc Do think they would be better off using a fogless screen vs messing with the Pinlock, though atleast it comes with a Pinlock insert. Pros: Price, Weight, Graphics
    Cons: Fit, Quality, Comfort

I have a very round head and thought that this helmet would work. Well, it does to a degree, but it squashes my cheeks like my grandma used to. The channel in the inside padding that is supposed to work for sunglasses is entirely in the wrong place... making it impossible for me to use them. My nose can use them tho. The quality of materials seems a bit cheap, but the helmet is cheap, so I can't complain too much. Ventilation isn't the greatest and I cannot believe that I had to spend an additional 7 for a chin vent. Please just include it for a couple more . Overall, good helmet, but not going to be my daily - more like backup or passenger.

The sizing information is provided by the manufacturer and does not guarantee a perfect fit. However, we are happy to assist you with any needed exchanges.

Note: the RPHA-Max seems to run a little smaller due to the thick padding and smaller overall shell design. Most size exchanges have been to up a size. So if you are on the fence. We recommend thinking about going up a size to start. However, please keep in mind the padding will break in some and a helmet that is a little tight vs. too loose for safety.
