Excellent Tires - Doug OH
Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: smooth rolling, good grip
Cons: none noted
Replaces the stock tires on my VTX1800R with a set of Elite 3 radials 3 years ago and loved them from day 1. good corner grip, excellent wet performance, I ran this set 16000 miles on both. The rear was worn out due to prolonged HOT road riding last year. Not the tires issue, was Mother Nature. will be replacing them with another set this month.
ELITE 3 AND DYNA BEEDS
BEST ALL WEATHER TIRE I HAVE EVER HAD.
TOOK OFF ALL RIM WEIGHTS AND USED DYNA BEEDS
IN EACH TIRE. INCREASED MILAGE BY30.
NO PROBLEMS AS OF YET, AND AM AT THE 12000 MI. MARK.
THESE TIRES NEED TIRE PRESSURE CK. AND RUN AT MANUFACTURES PRESSURES.
I RIDE A O5 WING AND THESE ARE THE BEST.
Really glad I bought these tires, I got 9000 miles out of the factory tires and I'm sure they were bias plys. The E3's are radials and are a little creepy at first, but so far, they actually outperform the factory tires by a longshot. The price was about 30 or 40 bucks more expensive than welfare brands. I put over 300 miles on them today mostly on WV backroads.
I only ventured away from the Elite 3s once when replacing the factory D250s but I came back at the next opportunity. I can't say if the Elite 3s are the best because I haven't ridden them all but it is an excellent tire, especially for the Goldwing. I suppose we are forever wanting more mileage out of our rubber but my priority is performance in the twisties. These tires give me a lot of confidence when the sparks are flying and I'll take that any day to a hard compound designed for long wear on the super slab.
I recently Purchased a set of the Dunlop Elite 3s Front&Rear for my 2009 Goldwing after the D250s that came with the Bike wore out at 7000 Miles. I purchase these tires because I was going on a long trip and did not want to
encounter any tire problems with the D250s. They Performed as expected until the Rear Tire Blewout going down the Thruway at 70 MPH we were lucky the tire stayed in one piece until we were able to stop safely. I Replaced that
tire with another Elite 3. We did however notice that the elites
run alot hotter than the OEM tires ever did we will never know if that had anything to do with the blow out
Wobble Time for GL1800
While I really like the way these tires held the road there were problems! At certain lower speeds the front end has a wobble. I have a 2005 GL1800 and I hear that this is common on many Gl1800s. I have just changed over to the Bridgestones and will see if they work better.
