Video Reviews
Hey this is Reuben with Competition Accessories welcome to our review of the Gmax GM76X, This is an off-road helmet that is well under 100 bucks and its available in a wide variety of different graphics schemes and solid colors . So you can jump on our website and checkout the different colors and graphics that are available . But i have to say for a helmet that is under 100 bucks the finish of this helmet is actually pretty impressive to me . Very detailed graphics you can see there's a hi-viz fade going on here and this particular graphic is obviously pretty eye catching and definitely very visible out there on the trails or on the track with the hi-viz and its also a DOT approved helmet so that means you can take it on the street if you wanted to just make sure your wearing some eye protection , And speaking of eye protection and they built the eye port of the GM76X to be very large so its going to accommodate most riding goggles even the larger type of goggles like if you wear over the glasses goggles or OPG goggles those tend to be a little bit larger and some helmets have a hard time getting them to fit in here but this helmet has a nice large eye port you can see they also integrated a little roof deflector around the nose here so if you are taking this to the track and doing some racing or practice or maybe ride somewhere where there's a lot of loose stuff that gets kicked up when your chasing your buddy's that's going to help protect your face a little bit there . They have also increased the size of the opening of this helmet when compared to other helmets that means its a little bit easier to get on and off its not really squeezing past your ears and head when your getting the helmet on and off it gives you a little bit more chin room a little bit more air flow coming in through the bottom of the helmet. Now as far as air flow goes we've got 17 vents on this helmet that's a very well vented off road helmet especially at this price point. A lot of times the hundred dollar helmets many times have no vents in the upper shell at all maybe some times you'll see some exhaust vents here and there and in this price range. 17 vents , you'll be hard pressed to find that many vents in helmets in this price range . Even some of the higher end helmets don't have that many so lots of venting on this helmet you have a removable mouthpiece here just a simple screw in the front you can pop that out in case it does get packed up with too much dirt or mud if you want to clean it out you can do that . You have some intake vents at the forehead here obviously you can adjust the visor so if you want to raise it up or push it down depending on the conditions you can do that whatever is comfortable for you you have some additional vents here at the top of the shell and then if i spin it around to the side you'll see there are additional vents on the side here and then at the back here lots of venting in the back of the helmet. You'll also notice they gave you a nice little ridge here for your goggle straps so running your goggles around back its not going to that strap is not going to want to slide up over the top or down towards the bottom of the helmet its going to stay nice and secure there in that little ridge there between the ridges there on the helmet. A little deflector at the base of the helmet here that really prevents wind from whipping around the back of your head it also helps pull more warm air out the back of your helmet .Getting warm air out of the helmet is actually one of the ways to keep the helmet cool , so if you experience any hot days out there riding or if you are riding competitively it doesn't really matter what the temperature is you'll probably end up sweating because your working hard but being able to get that warm air ,the moisture and the perspiration out of the helmet is a great way to keep you comfortable . Now the shell itself is a polycarbonate shell and of course in that price range it is to be expected. The weight of the helmet , well through it on a scale here, and this is a size large about 3 and a half pounds 3.55 pounds on our scale . So not too bad for a helmet in this price range at all . Ill take a look at the inside now , and that's definitely something you want to take a look at when your shopping for any helmet what kind of materials they use in side you want it to be comfortable. Two D rings closure goes with the strap it goes around your neck there around your chin and fully removable interior so a few snaps and you can slide the cheek pad right out here and the material itself is actually fairly soft with a little bit of mesh so you'll be able to again get some air flow between the cheek pads and your cheeks as well and they leave the cut outs around your ears as well so your not getting a lot of pressure on your ears while your riding . So we can go ahead and remove both cheek pads here well take a look at the interior of the helmet , of course you can swap out those cheek pads they tend to squeeze you a little bit but like i said they actually increased the amount of chin room and jaw space just to accommodate you guys that tend to get a little bit of pressure up in that area. As far as the crown liner goes this is made up with a combination of some mesh material you can see there's some grey and red mesh up underneath there . If you look at the back side you can see it a little bit better there and thats just to let that air thats coming through the vents actually reach your skin and pull the moisture away from your head and then there's some foam obviously for comfort and then the material not bad for 100 bucks pretty nice soft material . Sometimes the off-road helmets tend to be scratchy and when your pulling them on and off it feels like sand paper on your cheeks especially once they get a little dust or dirt built up in there it can get pretty uncomfortable . This is nice because you can pull it out you can wash it up keep it clean keep it fresh and the material itself is nice and soft too, so definitely nice and the red stitching is nice as well. Okay now looking at the EPS liner here is where you can see where that venting is really going to work and again at this price point you don't typically see these types of features . You've got very big air channels that run through the top of the helmet as well as those holes at the top there that are going to allow air to escape out the back. So lots of air places for that air to go through the top of the head there's not so much in the back here but you are going to get plenty through the top keep in mind you are looking at a sub 100 dollar helmet, so definitely a really good value for what your getting here from Gmax. From what we've seen from Gmax in the past they typically have more budget friendly helmets in their line up and this one is no exception you know its definitely a good helmet for the money there are better helmets out there there's Fly which they make an awesome F2 carbon but its a lot more money you could probably buy two or three of these for what you'd spend on the Fly helmets. So check out the Gmax on our website at competition and there are a bunch of different colors different graphics available.

Best fit for Frankenstein heads - f4fntm   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Comfortable, light, inexpensive
    Cons: [None]

I have an extremely oval-shaped or Frankenstein head, and have a hard time finding comfortable helmets. This is the best-fitting lid I've ever found on street or dirt - even after a long ride, I feel no discomfort. Graphics are a bit much, would've preferred solid, and it doesn't have a fancy brand name, but whatever. It's a simple, lightweight, inexpensive helmet, and that's good enough.
