Go Conti - STBeemerRider FL
Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Reliable traction - acceptable wear
Cons: Rubber doesn't automatically regenerate
When you buy a Conti - you're getting a superb motorcycle tire - speaking from more than 30 years riding them - and when you buy a specialized fitment for your bike - the result is near perfect. This purchase is for my 2nd RoadAttack 2-C Rear for my 2005 BMW R1200ST. When I bought the bike it had Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's on it and I was constantly skidding the bike front andor rear under moderate to heavy braking and then the tires greased out making subsequent maneuvering a bit squishy, like driving through an oil spot. The Michelin also seemed to take a while to warm up for optimal traction. That's my point of reference for this bike.I have read that the Road Attack 2C was developed between BMW and Conti for the 2004 and later model changes for the R and K bikes, and specifically have stiffer sidewalls than the standard version.I'm generous with the throttle and often travel with my wife and lots of luggage. My last Conti 2-C lasted over 9200 miles. I never skidded the rear tire even under the heaviest braking and true to their advertising the Conti's have no appreciable warm up time and seem to stick like rubber cement --- delivering all I asked for on the Tail of the Dragon, The Devil's Whip and The Diamondback, loaded or not. I live in FL so get a lot of riding in the rain - heavy rain - and again the Conti was constant and reliable. This tire seems to be about as good as it gets. Comp Accessories has always delivered quickly and reliably at prices that local shops cannot touch. A winning combination. I definitely recommend the Conti Road Attack 2 for any performance bike and the -2C for any of the 2004 - 2007 BMW's that it was designed for.
