Decades ago some resourceful bike builder grafted Ford’s ubiquitous Model A taillight to the rear end of his bobber and an enduring element of the classic chopper aesthetic was born. While certainly functional, Henry Ford’s taillight can look slightly bulbous on a stripped-down chopper, especially on lean machines like Triumphs, Sportsters and XS650s. Biltwell’s Model B taillight addresses this shortcoming by reducing the size of the whole component while mimicking the mounting footprint of the Model A. The result is a taillight approximately half the diameter of a Model A that retrofits onto side-mount license plate brackets currently available from a wide range of popular suppliers. If your motorcycle doesn’t feature one of these brackets, Biltwell offers three laser-cut steel brackets for custom mounting: two for welding onto sissy bars and one for bolting onto the fender. The Model B is machined from billet alloy, then hand polished to a bright raw finish. Biltwell’s popular matte black electroplated surface treatment is also available. The internals of the Model B feature a custom two-phase LED and a robust injection-molded polycarbonate plastic lens with attractive water droplet surface detailing. A slot on the bottom of the Model B housing lets white light shine onto the license plate for keep authorities off your case.
