Third RS-1 helmet - WaynoJ   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light-weight, great fit, quiet, huge ventilation
    Cons: None

This is my third Bell RS-1 helmet. First was the RSD Flash version, which got demolished in a rear-ender about a year ago. Second was a Gearhead in red, my all-time favorite graphics for a helmet still using it. When CA put the Gearhead in white on a close-out sale for under 200, I jumped on it for a spare, although it does go better with my new white Triumph Street Triple, so it gets a little use. This is just a great helmet -- very light weight especially compared to the Bell Vortex the RSD Flash replaced, best fitting of any helmet I've ever tried on my traditional long-oval head, very quiet, and lets in huge air with all of the vents open. The pads are quickly and easily replaced when they get sloppy, and easily removed for cleaning. Just over-all a fantastic helmet, especially for the price. Thanks, CA

Great Helmet - Robert   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Quality, light, quiet, graphics
    Cons: None

I recently replaced a Shoei RF-1000 that I had for five years with a new RF-1100. No complaints about the RF-1000...it was my second one and I thought I would always wear a Shoei. The RF-1100 turned out to be a disappointment. Fit and quality were what I came to expect from Shoeis excellent but the new one is LOUD Always have worn earplugs, but the difference between the 1100 and older 1000 is significant. Also, the 1100 is not as aerodynamically smooth as the 1000 behind my sport touring fairing the buffeting is pronounced and contributes to the noise. Air inlets function great, but another contributor to noise they whistle at speed. I read several reviews that pointed to the RS-1 as a high-quality, good fitting, and quiet helmet so when I saw that CA had my size in several appealing graphics, I ordered one. Easily the equal to the Shoei in fit, function, and quality, but significantly lighter half a pound on my digital scale and oh so very much quieter No buffering behind the fairing either. I have also worn both helmets on the track track bike is naked, no fairing or windscreen and the Bell is smoother in free-stream air as well. Ventilation is good and I can feel the brow vents work. I like to have at least two helmets at any time, and will be selling off the Shoei to buy a second RS-1 which I will buy from CA.I bought two separate RS-1s from CA because I was not sure of the fit and returned one taking advantage of CA's excellent return and exchange policies. Sent back the redundant one and had my credit card refunded well within their stated time. Excellent service

Bell Gearhead Helmet - Lynbiker   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Very Nice Helmet
    Cons: None

If you want to save some money get a RS-1 over the Star, same fit, quiet, and with the solex shield it is combo that's hard to beat. For me this helmet is just as good as Shoei for less money

Great Helmet at an Unbeatable Price - Olivier   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Comfortable, quiet, well made
    Cons: [None]

Found this helmet at an incredible discount 189, so it joined the Bell Star I already had. Compared to the Bell Star, this RS1 definitely feels heavier, but it is also much quieter. Its weight is well balanced though, and even on a one-day, 600-mile trip on my ZX10R, neck fatigue was never an issue with this helmet. Compared to the Star, which was designed for a more track-oriented purpose, the field of vision is slightly more restricted when you are crouching on the tank and looking up, but again this helmet was not designed primarily for track use. The RS1 is an excellent sport-touring lid very quiet, comfy well-balanced and well-made. Hopefully, the feeling of quality of this helmet will translate into trouble-free use. On the Star, the magnet on the strap fell off after only a few months, which was disappointing. With a little luck, all the parts will stay together on this RS1 Anyway, to sum up an unbeatable deal on a quality so far... helmet. Thank you Comp-Acc

Bell RS-1 Gearhead - DWolvin   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Comfortable, quiet unfaired bike, Great fit & finish
    Cons: Won't change my tires.

This helmet was bought as a replacement for a stolen snif Bell Star Hess. It's much quieter than the Star, and flows nearly as much air. It's nice and soft on all of the liner, and fits my long oval without any hotspots. the magnetic retainer is so handy I'm annoyed when I have to use a snap...Side note- the Transitions visor is hella cool

Bell Rs1 vs Vortex - rmphill   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: quiet,snug fit,liner,air flow , better visor mechanism .
Cons: graphics are a bit cartoony.

So... This helmet hands down a great helmet I already had a Bell so getting this wasn't a problem. I still have a Bell Vortex but just upgraded to the Bell Rs1 gearhead. It's way more quiet then the Vortex Ita got a bug fit compared to the Vortex, it flows air way better than the Vortex, the 3 position visor settings Is a huge plus. The moment I went for my first ride in this helmet I noticed an immediate difference in comfort style ergonomics to wind noise . That's a huge thing for me , wind noise my Vortex had the worst wind noise ever whistle through the whole helmet form 20 mph to 130 mph didn't matter how fast or slow I went it would have a substantial amount of noise to the point of irritation with ear plugs in . If you have doubts just read this none BS review... and if your looking at the shoei line up just think price . The RS is quieter than the qwest my brothers got the shoei qwest the qwest is louder it fogs more and the padding and shield are all different and heavier. The RS1 is lighter softer quiter and just flows air way better and it's around Ooo 250 cheaper with graphics the qwest is around 400 for solids no graphics. But if you are considering this don't hesitate whether you want a new helmet or your upgrading the Vortex you won't be disappointed and I might add I paid 189 for my vortex had I just got the rs1 for the fantastic price of 199 to begin with I wouldn't have experience with any other helmet so get it you won't be sorry .

Nice Helmet, but didn't fit well - Kit   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Light, Paint was great
Cons: Fit a bit tight for my head

My comment is only about fitment. I wear a size L for the Scorpion Exo 750 and 700. The inner tag reads 59-60cm on my Scorpion. This particular bell helmet read 58cm-59cm. I tried the helmet on and immediately felt the helmet crushing my brain. I have an oval shaped head. I immediately returned it and purchased an Exo-750 from this site. The Exo-750's fitment was perfect right out the bat. Great customer service, I got my refund almost immediately and my Exo-750 came quick.

Overall very nice - Travis   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Stable Aero
Cons: Tries to slit my throat

The weight of this helmet is nearly identical to my old one KBC VR2, but the weight distribution is better. I feel like most of the weight is at my ears or lower. I think this makes it a little easier to move around for head checks and makes it SEEM lighter. The aero stability is really great though. Slices through the wind very nicely, even with your head turned. The first down side is that the large is quite snug compared to other large size helmets. It's still acceptable for me, but I could see where someone else might need to send it back for an XL.The other down side is that the buckle for the chin strap is in the middle of your neck. My last helmet had it offset of one side. The result is that, unless the strap is placed in just the right place, and the padding located just so, the buckle digs into my adam's apple. It can be a little painful and distracting at times. It hasn't injured me, yet. But I'm considering shortening the strap that holds the buckle to move it over. I honestly don't know how it made it out of Bell R&D without someone complaining about this. I'm no helmet expert and have maybe owned only about 4 helmets in my life, but none of them had the buckle in the middle.Overall I still like the helmet though.

Too cold to ride - JBolton   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: This is the most comfortable helmet that I have owned.
    Cons: [None]

Unfortunately, cold and snow have gotten in the way of getting out and riding with this new helmet. However, the package showed up within two days and on the first day of the Polar Vortex. I will say that this is the second Bell I have had in a row and this is super comfortable. I spent about 20 minutes putting it on and trying to get the fit right and chasing the dogs around the house with it on, because why not right. Snug in all the appropriate place and good sight radius. I cant wait for some warmer weather to give this a real test.
