Bell RS1 Helmet XL - STGuy   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Perfect fit, quiet, vents work great
    Cons: None

Great helmet that is DOT and Snell rated. Shield mechanism allows easy adjustment as I like to ride with my shield up to shade my eyes. Overall fit and finish are excellent and the pads are comfortable for long rides. I plan to get another one to leave at our vacation condo for my second bike.

Pros: Light enought to wear at night, but great for the day...
    Cons: [None]

Love my new visor - it is dark enough during the day where if I forget my shades, I'm not squinting too bad, and definitely light enough to wear at night, too.

Excellent Helmet - Ashish   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Quite, Light weight, Stable, Style & design
    Cons: None so far

This is an excellent helmet for 3 season riding with open vents. I guess it wont be a problem in the winter too. Its very very quite, my 2013 Daytona red lining isn't noisy to me anymore. Good build quality and aerodynamics tested at high speed. You do hear the wind if you tilt your head sideways though. Has room for Bluetooth attachments. Visor setting are pretty neat too. The colors and design get you noticed on the road. Thumbs up to Compacc.com pricing, there's none better. I am very satisfied with the purchase. Do measure your crown before buying though, this helmet is snug by design. I didn't order a size up though and the helmet is now broken in nicely.

Third RS-1 helmet - WaynoJ   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light-weight, great fit, quiet, huge ventilation
    Cons: None

This is my third Bell RS-1 helmet. First was the RSD Flash version, which got demolished in a rear-ender about a year ago. Second was a Gearhead in red, my all-time favorite graphics for a helmet still using it. When CA put the Gearhead in white on a close-out sale for under 200, I jumped on it for a spare, although it does go better with my new white Triumph Street Triple, so it gets a little use. This is just a great helmet -- very light weight especially compared to the Bell Vortex the RSD Flash replaced, best fitting of any helmet I've ever tried on my traditional long-oval head, very quiet, and lets in huge air with all of the vents open. The pads are quickly and easily replaced when they get sloppy, and easily removed for cleaning. Just over-all a fantastic helmet, especially for the price. Thanks, CA

two thumbs up - Paul   NC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: lightweight, easy face-shield removal, good visability
    Cons: ventilation ports, chin strap

Overall - a great helmet. This is my third one. Love the light weight and visibility. The face shield change-out is lightning quick and secure. The face pads are snug and comfortable. That being said, the ventilation ports need improvement. They are not easy to adjust with gloves on and only give moderate airflow on hot days. Additionally, the chin strap can also be cumbersome to fit with gloves on.Still, a great helmet that is worth the money when compared to more expensive rivals such as Shoei and Arai.

Bell RS1 Helmet - Jamie   OR Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Very comfortable. Well vented. Visor works well
Cons: A little breezy for cool mornings even with the vents closed

This is a nice helmet. I got a large which fit a little tighter than the Shoei's but Felt very good once I got used to it. I like the tighter feel. It vents well when it's warm. The price at Competition Accessories was fantastic too.

Great Helmet - Robert   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Quality, light, quiet, graphics
    Cons: None

I recently replaced a Shoei RF-1000 that I had for five years with a new RF-1100. No complaints about the RF-1000...it was my second one and I thought I would always wear a Shoei. The RF-1100 turned out to be a disappointment. Fit and quality were what I came to expect from Shoeis excellent but the new one is LOUD Always have worn earplugs, but the difference between the 1100 and older 1000 is significant. Also, the 1100 is not as aerodynamically smooth as the 1000 behind my sport touring fairing the buffeting is pronounced and contributes to the noise. Air inlets function great, but another contributor to noise they whistle at speed. I read several reviews that pointed to the RS-1 as a high-quality, good fitting, and quiet helmet so when I saw that CA had my size in several appealing graphics, I ordered one. Easily the equal to the Shoei in fit, function, and quality, but significantly lighter half a pound on my digital scale and oh so very much quieter No buffering behind the fairing either. I have also worn both helmets on the track track bike is naked, no fairing or windscreen and the Bell is smoother in free-stream air as well. Ventilation is good and I can feel the brow vents work. I like to have at least two helmets at any time, and will be selling off the Shoei to buy a second RS-1 which I will buy from CA.I bought two separate RS-1s from CA because I was not sure of the fit and returned one taking advantage of CA's excellent return and exchange policies. Sent back the redundant one and had my credit card refunded well within their stated time. Excellent service

Good product - Robert Arance   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Price, ease of installation, quality
    Cons: none

Bought a XL to size down an RS-1 from 2XL to XL. RS-1 in those sizes share the same shell and the fit is adjusted with the top and cheek pads. I actually prefer these to the stock ones as they are smoother on my skin. Price and ease of replacement makes them attractive to change every year or so.

Best Helmet Value - Robert Arance   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Everything
    Cons: None

As good as my RF-1100, possibly better. Excellent fit, quality, finish. Slightly lighter than the Shoei, and a lot quieter as well. Have used it both with and without a fairing on my bike and is is stable, no buffeting. Brow vents work very well...ran a track day on Memorial Day with temps around 100, could feel the ventilation working to cool off my head. Purchased the Airtrix, but exchanged it for a Gearhead and at the prices CompAcc sells them for, they are the helmet bargain of the year Excellent helmet for the money. Will eventually replace it with another.

Bell RS1 - Jeff B.   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Gorgeous finish inside and out
Cons: None to speak of but lighter would be better.

Really a beautiful helmet, fit and finish superb inside and out. Usually I wear a medium and that is what I originally ordered but it was much too tight , returned it and got the large and it fit perfect. Customer service and return policy was as good as advertised.

Good cheap replacement pads - WaynoJ   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Low cost, allows fitment adjustment with various size pads
    Cons: None

What can I say For very little cash, you can essentially bring your expensive helmet back to like new fitment. By having a variety of sizes, you can fine-tune the fit to exactly the way you want it. I prefer that my helmets fit very snug, as I do a lot of high-speed freeway riding, so I order one size larger than stock and get no helmet shift at all -- perfect I highly recommend every rider try new cheek pads at least once a year.

Great Helmet at an Unbeatable Price - Olivier   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Comfortable, quiet, well made
    Cons: [None]

Found this helmet at an incredible discount 189, so it joined the Bell Star I already had. Compared to the Bell Star, this RS1 definitely feels heavier, but it is also much quieter. Its weight is well balanced though, and even on a one-day, 600-mile trip on my ZX10R, neck fatigue was never an issue with this helmet. Compared to the Star, which was designed for a more track-oriented purpose, the field of vision is slightly more restricted when you are crouching on the tank and looking up, but again this helmet was not designed primarily for track use. The RS1 is an excellent sport-touring lid very quiet, comfy well-balanced and well-made. Hopefully, the feeling of quality of this helmet will translate into trouble-free use. On the Star, the magnet on the strap fell off after only a few months, which was disappointing. With a little luck, all the parts will stay together on this RS1 Anyway, to sum up an unbeatable deal on a quality so far... helmet. Thank you Comp-Acc

Bell Transitions SOLFX - SV650 Rider   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Convinient, fast tint
    Cons: Not dark enough

I love having the auto tinting feature. No messing around with shields and you get as much tint as needed for what ever light condition. The only thing I wish could be changed was it getting a little darker. During sunrise and sunset the direct sun light is pretty bright. Any other time of the day it is fantastic. The way I counter that is just to keep my head tipped down a little bit. Great product.

Pros: Comfortable, quiet unfaired bike, Great fit & finish
    Cons: Won't change my tires.

This helmet was bought as a replacement for a stolen snif Bell Star Hess. It's much quieter than the Star, and flows nearly as much air. It's nice and soft on all of the liner, and fits my long oval without any hotspots. the magnetic retainer is so handy I'm annoyed when I have to use a snap...Side note- the Transitions visor is hella cool

Great helmet at a discount - 61duc   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Has great appearance and a comfortable fit
Cons: Odd sizing, with a 58-59 large instead of 59-60 large for other helmets

Fits great and really has a great looking appearance. Has very good vents for air and the visor will lock down, which many helmets don't. The same lever to lock the visor can be used to barely crack open the visor for fresh air and keep it in that position. Was being sold at a great discount at slightly less than 250 instead of the standard price of about 450. Overall a great helmet.

Bell Rs1 vs Vortex - rmphill   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: quiet,snug fit,liner,air flow , better visor mechanism .
Cons: graphics are a bit cartoony.

So... This helmet hands down a great helmet I already had a Bell so getting this wasn't a problem. I still have a Bell Vortex but just upgraded to the Bell Rs1 gearhead. It's way more quiet then the Vortex Ita got a bug fit compared to the Vortex, it flows air way better than the Vortex, the 3 position visor settings Is a huge plus. The moment I went for my first ride in this helmet I noticed an immediate difference in comfort style ergonomics to wind noise . That's a huge thing for me , wind noise my Vortex had the worst wind noise ever whistle through the whole helmet form 20 mph to 130 mph didn't matter how fast or slow I went it would have a substantial amount of noise to the point of irritation with ear plugs in . If you have doubts just read this none BS review... and if your looking at the shoei line up just think price . The RS is quieter than the qwest my brothers got the shoei qwest the qwest is louder it fogs more and the padding and shield are all different and heavier. The RS1 is lighter softer quiter and just flows air way better and it's around Ooo 250 cheaper with graphics the qwest is around 400 for solids no graphics. But if you are considering this don't hesitate whether you want a new helmet or your upgrading the Vortex you won't be disappointed and I might add I paid 189 for my vortex had I just got the rs1 for the fantastic price of 199 to begin with I wouldn't have experience with any other helmet so get it you won't be sorry .

Much better fit - mnjaws   MN Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Easy installation
    Cons: na

I purchased a Bell RS-1 helmet last year and didn't like the way it fit. Way too much pressure against my cheeks. So I pulled out the OEM cheek pads and found them to be 40MM. When I saw that Bell offered replacement various thickness pads, I ordered 30MM for a much nicer overall fit. Helmet is on and off much easier and no more chipmunk cheeks while riding. If you have a Bell that sits too tight on your face, swap out your cheek pads and enjoy the ride

    Pros: No sunglasses required
    Cons: Change is not instant

One of the reasons I purchased the Bell RS1 was for the capability of upgrading to the SOLFX shield. I could not be happier. Shades your face when needed, no distortion, hasn't scratched with normal use and works just like the video says. The only con And this is a stretch being the transition. If you are going in and out of tunnels or something similar. It's not going to keep up, no big deal on my part. All of this said, I still find myself wearing my sunglasses with it sometimes. It's summer and it's hot so I frequently pop up the shield while driving to cool off.I have had no issue with wearing sun glasses and the SOLFX at the same time. I would buy again and would recommend it to anyone. Very happy

Pros: changes fast, fog resistant, durable against scratches
Cons: Not dark enough when sun is low at eye level

This shield works as well as prescription eyeglasses, transition lenses. It changes fast and is uniform throughout. Is completely clear at night and somehow, seems better than a regular clear shield at night. I have used it alot at night. It is also very fog resistant. With the application of Scotts anti fog cleaner, it just will not fog at all. It is expensive, but you do get what you pay for in this shield.

Bell RS-1 - Paul Britton   NC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Comfort, quality, ventilation, Transitions shield
Cons: excessive air on face in cold

Coming from a Shoei RF-1000 and a X-Eleven, I am still impressed with the RS-1 and choose it over the Shoei's. It's a very high quality helmet, with superior action for the vent covers and shield. Shield notches are better as well, and the Transitions shield is worth every penny.I even crash tested one this year, and bought another. I used the X-Eleven before my RS-1 arrived, and really missed the airflow. The only possible downside is there is a lot of air over the face, even sealed up, and in the cold it can be a bit much. I haven't tried the chin skirt, but I expect that to help greatly.

worth the price - rijiline   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Clear Vision, Tints Quickly, Un-Tints Quickly
    Cons: None

Yes, this item is expensive but it is well worth it. I had a dark smoke shield and when the sun went down, forget it, could hardly see the cars headlights. But during the day in Florida, you can't go with a clear shield, just too sunny. This shield quickly tints in the sunlight. It seems that it is actually easier to see through then my other Shoei shields I have. There is no distortion. I would highly recommend having one of these.

All Face Shields Should be Transitions - VJS   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: No need to carry a clear sheild for night riding.
Cons: pricey, but worth every penny.

This is the greatest face shield ever. I bought this one for my wife because I like mine so much. All face shields should be transitions. Carrying extra shields takes up valuable storage space on the bike and they tend to get scratched up no matter how careful you are. With the self-tinting shield, one doesn't have to stop at dusk to change out shields. Combined with the Bell Revolver, a great ride

Pros: Not too dark, looks awesome.
Cons: You look TOO cool, makes people jealous.

I have a Bell Star Matte Black helmet and I just purchased the dark smoke screen. It looks so awesome I can't even tell you. Rode it to work this morning and it was a little overcast with some slight sunlight here and there and it wasn't too dark at all. It does a nice job of shading the sun, but not so much that you can't see. Plus you look super bad a. It's a great visor clicks in easy and I carry my clear visor with me in the OGIO tail bag that I just bought from Compacc just in case it gets too dark out.

Good value, Great Visor - Jim   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light, quiet, aerodynamic, Transitions Visor
Cons: Sizing is slightly on small side

This is a great helmet for the price at CA. It fits slightly small. I ordered the large, as I wear in an Arai, but it was too tight. I exchanged for an XL, which is just slightly loose. My head measures 59.5 cm., which falls between large and XL. With a little extra padding the XL is now comfortable. The helmet is quieter than my Arai due to a snugger fit around the sides and back of the neck. It is very stable at higher speeds. The best feature of Bell helmets is the optional Transitions visor. These are expensive, at 120, but fabulous The shield reacts quickly to changing light conditions and is never too light or too dark. Just right It is completely clear at night. No more changing visors or being caught out with the wrong one.

Nice Helmet, but didn't fit well - Kit   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Light, Paint was great
Cons: Fit a bit tight for my head

My comment is only about fitment. I wear a size L for the Scorpion Exo 750 and 700. The inner tag reads 59-60cm on my Scorpion. This particular bell helmet read 58cm-59cm. I tried the helmet on and immediately felt the helmet crushing my brain. I have an oval shaped head. I immediately returned it and purchased an Exo-750 from this site. The Exo-750's fitment was perfect right out the bat. Great customer service, I got my refund almost immediately and my Exo-750 came quick.

very cool - Travis   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: changes tint... duh
    Cons: not dark enough

I don't think it gets dark enough. I had a dark smoke shield on my last helmet and in full sunlight this shield doesn't get as dark.If you are riding through variable light beforeafter sunrisesunset then it's definitely worth it. And overall I'm still happy I got it. The fully dark mode is fine, it's just that in Texas I ride in full sun most of the time, so I'd like it to be a little darker.

Overall very nice - Travis   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Stable Aero
Cons: Tries to slit my throat

The weight of this helmet is nearly identical to my old one KBC VR2, but the weight distribution is better. I feel like most of the weight is at my ears or lower. I think this makes it a little easier to move around for head checks and makes it SEEM lighter. The aero stability is really great though. Slices through the wind very nicely, even with your head turned. The first down side is that the large is quite snug compared to other large size helmets. It's still acceptable for me, but I could see where someone else might need to send it back for an XL.The other down side is that the buckle for the chin strap is in the middle of your neck. My last helmet had it offset of one side. The result is that, unless the strap is placed in just the right place, and the padding located just so, the buckle digs into my adam's apple. It can be a little painful and distracting at times. It hasn't injured me, yet. But I'm considering shortening the strap that holds the buckle to move it over. I honestly don't know how it made it out of Bell R&D without someone complaining about this. I'm no helmet expert and have maybe owned only about 4 helmets in my life, but none of them had the buckle in the middle.Overall I still like the helmet though.

Aerodynamic - Robotman   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Visor, ventilation, no buffeting, paint scheme
Cons: Loud, lets air in in the chin area

Overall I am pleased with this helmet. I was still using my 2000 vintage Shoei RF-R when my son read something online that said you should replace your helmet every 5 years. The straps and liner were getting pretty ratty so I decided to get a new lid. This helmet is light and aerodynamic compared to the old Shoei. The way the visor locks and unlatches with the lever on the side is easy to use. I have been riding in the 50 degree spring air here in PA and it does let in a little more air around your chin than I would like but a scarf fixes that. In the summer that will actually be a plus. The vent system works great Both the top and front visor vent systems flow a lot of air when left open. The Airtex Speedway paint scheme seems correct for my Triumph Sprint ST and a black jacket. I like it a lot altogether. The helmet is a good value and has a good feature set. I bought a large and wear a 7-18 hat size. It's a good tight fit. I keep my hair pretty short. If there is one thing that is disappointing, it is how loud the helmet is. It is as loud as the old Shoei and I was expecting quieter. I think the gaps at the ears for a comm system are the culprit here. I might get a Bluetooth setup for talking to my son when we ride and maybe that will make it quieter... The Sprint has a more upright riding position than the pure crotch rocket bikes and maybe that makes a difference. The windshield on my bike dumps the air exactly in the center of the visor. That is based on where the bugs are hitting That could be a factor in the noise too. Really, I am just nit picking, it is a great helmet. I am 59 so I have seen the evolution of the full face and this is a good one.

Too cold to ride - JBolton   VA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: This is the most comfortable helmet that I have owned.
    Cons: [None]

Unfortunately, cold and snow have gotten in the way of getting out and riding with this new helmet. However, the package showed up within two days and on the first day of the Polar Vortex. I will say that this is the second Bell I have had in a row and this is super comfortable. I spent about 20 minutes putting it on and trying to get the fit right and chasing the dogs around the house with it on, because why not right. Snug in all the appropriate place and good sight radius. I cant wait for some warmer weather to give this a real test.

Wicked Value - Butta Churn   KS Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: paint scheme feeds the mullet inside me, very quiet, great value, chin curtain, airflow
    Cons: [None]

ive owned alot of helmets and for the money this cant be beat. fits true to size but id say its a little on snug side so im very happy with the fit. chin curtain is very effective so my contact lenses dont move around at speed. noise is minimal, field of vision is excellent, and ohhh its so light. i cant believe i got it for so cheap.

Bell Shield - Marc K   CO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes

Cons: little costly compared to other visors

As advertised ... a little expensive when compared to similar visors of other brands ... but I'd still recommend it. Functionality and quality are excellent.

Transition shield for the Bell helmet - Day Rider   CT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Outstanding optical clarity. Excellent transition from no tint to very dark tint in the sun..
Cons: No UV protection like other shields.

This product does the job as advertised.. But what I did not know is that the shield has no UV protection.. I had my personal glasses on and with the shield closed my glasses went dark too. This does not happen with my other shields, which is one of the reasons I got a transition shield. I will have to use sun screen if I am going to be out all day..

Works for motorcycles - Landon   IA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Doesn't fog over
    Cons: Two layers of plastic

Finally I can ride motorcycle in cold weather without the visor fogging over as soon as I slow down. Simpler and costs less than the heated version. Happy I found it.

Big screw up for 120 - Sticker   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Gets pretty dark, not cheesy purple tint
Cons: Expensive, permanent 2 long glue spot on front from Transitions sticker

Nice shield but some boob decided to attach an adhesive backed Transitions sticker to the front of it. Why couldn't. they use a static vinyl sticker, a molded in brand, or at least put it someplace outside of the clearview area DaftNot acceptable for a 120 face shield.

SOLFX Shield - ZZR 1200 TX   TX Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: Easy to remove
Cons: Expensive, fogs, turns to very light smoke only.

My shield does not work as advertised. Only a very light smoke tint at best even in midday sun. Also, anit-fog feature does not work either. If bright sunlight makes you squint, you need a real tinted shield or wear sunglasses with this one. And at the price of this shield, you can buy 2 or 3 other shields. Also, had to use plastic polish to remove adhesive from label that was attached to shield. Complete waste of money, in my opinion.

Bell Transitions SOLFX - Bud   Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: Convenient
    Cons: Short lived

I was excited about this product and ordered it for use here in Florida. It worked wellat first but after the first year, it became less effective in darkening. Now, 3 years later, it does not darken at all.
