Bell RS1 RSD - taymaivhou   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Fit, colors, air vents.
    Cons: Honestly, none so far

Fits well, true to size. Colors more vibrant and more glittery than shown on picture. Black center is matte, which was a nice surprise. Carrying bag that comes with the helmet is high quality. Air vents work wonderfully I live in a hot climate.

    No regrets.

This is the most comfortable helmet I own I have 4 others and this one stands out over the others

Great Helmet and Helpfull Staff - Doxastic   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Fits great with tons of options
Cons: Expensive but I bought it on sale

The staff was very helpful with sizing. I was afraid to get a helmet online in fear it wouldn't fit.The staff recommended I go try on fitted baseball hats and get back to them with what sizes fit tight, just right and loose. That's all I needed to get the right fitting helmet. The helmet has tons of venting options, has an easy latch to switch visors, is super light, and fits very comfortably. Highly recommended. It also looks great

Sick helmet, great price - Alejandro   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes

You can't beat the price for this badass helmet. I just like everything about it, fit, look, air flow.

nice helmet - Steve in PA   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: light. aerodynamic. quiet. visable. visor. price.
Cons: Star was cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold weather

Bought this in 2xl to replace a Bell Star that gave it's life for mine when I hit a deer at 55 mph and tumbled down the road. Loved the Star and this helmet is better in some ways. Fits tighter but not uncomfortable at all, even after 400 mile days. Very snug in the cheek area might try next cheek pad size at some point. More stable at high speed than Star. I ride a naked bike and even at the ton this helmet is fairly quiet and very stable compared to other helmets I have worn. Head checks are easy so design works good. I like the bright colors and wear a hi vis yellow jacket and they look good together. The Star was cooler in hot weather but this is close. The Star was warmer in cold weather but this fogs less. Has not fogged at all so far in 3 months of daily wear. The Star flowed more air at the top of the head but this flows more air at mouth and nose. Have not worn this in temps below 40 yet and will need to wear a balaclava when I do. Very nice interior BTW and pads are replacable and washable...a plus in my book. Can you tell I really like this helmet

Bell RS1 - Tom   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Very Quiet, Snug Fit and the Superior Quality.
    Cons: None

This is by far...the lightest helmet ive' ever had, oh' and by the way, it's super quiet too Wether on the street or track. Definitely recommend to everyone

Amazing look, feel and protection - Jay   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light weight, sick design, great ventilation, nice snug fit, quiet helmet, nice magnet strap
    Cons: [None]

Incredibly light I won't buy any other helmet. Bell really know what they're doing. The fit is perfect I have a small ovalish head so I got a small according to the chart. Fits true a little snug which I like. The picture doesn't do the design justice, the gold flakes really pop in the sun. Had the Rs-1 panic zone before and got cut off and smacked right into the trunk at around 45 didn't feel a thing on my head. No complaints at all

great helmet - Riding bear   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: comfortable, hi tech
    Cons: [None]

I got this almost at 50 off so it was unbeatable. great graphics, comfortable, easy to swap shield. it reduces the noise quite a lot, but I cannot compare it with others so I'm not sure how good it is in that regard..

Love my RS-1 - Davis   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Vents well, little buffeting, quiet
    Cons: Seems to be narrow

This helmet is a step up from what I've worn previously. While it's not particularly light, it's a lot more stable at speed than I expected. I ordered a medium per the size chart, but the cheek bone pads were really tight. They still are, but it took awhile to break in the foam.

Awesome - Rvelvetj   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light, comfortable, top notch air flow.
    Cons: None

I was shocked at how light this helmet is. It is amazing on. Never pulls on your head at any speed or angle. Interior is awesome, by far the best I've seen. I can't say enough good things about the air flow in this helmet. On a hot day with a touch of sweat on you from sitting at a light it is truly amazing how cool the top of your head will feel while you are riding. Great graphics. I dig Roland's designs. Great helmet, even better on sale

Bell RS1 - TH   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Quality, Comfort, Lightweight, Design, Functionality
Cons: Expensive SOLFX shield, poor locking mechanism for shield

Another high quality helmet from Bell, it's exceptional light, comfortable and molds to a custom fit when a few wears. Highly recommend, just note transition shield comes separately and is expensive - 120 , and the shield look mechanism doesn't operate correctly.

Gorgeous Helmet - Brandon   IN Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Low wind noise, awesome paint, true fit, excellent venting
    Cons: Chin strap buckle abrasive

This is by far an excellent bang for buck helmet. This is the 4th helmet I've owned in 3 yearsI'm a helmet whore. For comparison, I've worn many icon helmets as well as bell. I wear a size small and although it is snug, it is a race-inspired fit. Photos do not even come close to to giving the RSD flash design justice and the graphic are painted, not decals. Although the finish is easy to scratch, it does come with a nice carrying bags with handlessoft velvet liner. The visibility is superb and the vent flow has no drawbacks. This is the first helmet I've owned with a chin curtain and I will never own one again with it being incorporated. I've heard a lot of complaints about the visor lock mechanism breaking, but I have yet to receive any issues. My only major drawback is when the helmet is tightly fastened, the chin strap's metal loop causes abrasion on my Adam's apple. Bell should have dipped it in rubber. Other than that, I don't think I will be purchasing another helmet anytime soon

Bell RS 1 - Ugis   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Fit, finish, light and easy to use
    Cons: None so far

This is one good lid Compared to all my previous ones, this is by far the best. It could simply be that my head was designed for this helmet, but whatever, this is a perfect fit. I commute to work and I am on the road by 730 am and since I ride almost all year round, I encounter morning mist and fog frequently. This helmet has not fogged on me once. Not even a hint of it. Add that all adjustments can easily be handled with gloves makes this one easy helmet to live with. And did I mention that it is lightThis baby was made for me.

Another nice helmet from Bell - turboderek   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: plenty of vents, looks great
    Cons: [None]

I have two Bell Vortex helmets. I was looking for another Bell that matched my Yellow 2000 Honda VFR and Yellow HRC Jacket. The RS1 RSD looks amazing with the honda yellow. The interior is a step up over the vortex being soft and unlike my Vortex it does not leave any hotspots on my head. The RSD bag is perfect for leaving at work to store the helmet. It looks amazing with the Bell Transitions SolFX Photochromatic shield.

Rs1 - flash - FOL   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Bang for the buck
Cons: Gloss Stiker no real paint....

besides the sticker orange graphs course back shamrock its real paint There is nothing wrong with this helmet, super comfortable padding better than nolan N90-85, hjc RPHA MAX ALIGN top of brand or even those german schuberth the inner foams are like or better than the icons hydrofoam which are really good i think, it is a really really quiet helmet over 60 you can hear something draft but what are you expecting if you have your vent open course they flow a good amount of air ... overall its a great helmet and comes with it own carrying bag that comes only with the stars so i would say its the best thing you can get for the money 250 free shiping at the end is by far one of the best mid level helmets on the market.

My right helmet - malinger   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Graphic, Interior Pad Quality, Good balance of helmet weight
    Cons: Non at all

I own many helmets Suomy Excel and Vandal, Schuberth SR1, AGV Corsa, Premier and Bell Star 2010.Even though RS1 is not a lightweight helmet at least 15xxg , but it is well balanced once you put it on, you do not feel burden with this helmet. The vent of this helmet is not as superior as Bell Star, but the quietness of the RS1 is so much better than Bell Star, that favors me to choose RS1 over Bell Star.Talk about how comfortable of the pads inside RS1. Bell Star's pad was not that much of high density emptyness, in fact the pads inside RS1 do give you a high-end comfortable touch.Overall, I give RS1 a 5 stars because it is a perfect helmet designed specific for me

My lid - My lid   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Snug comfortable fit

Great - K12R   ME Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Lightweight, Bell Quality, Bang for the buck, color, Well venting, No lift at speeds, Comfortable, Magnetic strap, ,
    Cons: None so far

This is by far the best helmet u can get forcthe money. Just compare it to other one at this price. I got it on sale at unbeatable 229 from CompAc. ThanksIt's lightweight, vents really well, it's one of the more comfortable helmets out there i like wearing it more than a Shoei i bought for 3 times the price The color is a hit or miss depending... But i like the change as i have three other helmets in whiteblack combo colors. This should go well with my black outfits. Anyway, a no brainer for me- 5 stars

Solid - MadRock   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Color, quiet, design
Cons: Just didn't fit my head

Great helmet, zero fog issues, well ventilated. Only grip is it didn't fit my head as well as some other brands but that's just my noggin. It's a little on the globe side of shapes, rather then the shoei oval shapes. Other than that its a gorgeous looking helmet on a black bike.

Great Bang for the Buck - LIRider   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: ComfortFit, Very Quiet, Light Weight
    Cons: None discovered yet.

Purchased a large based on 58.5cm head measurement and the fit is excellent. Have been riding in a Scorpion EXO-400 for the past three years also size large and the RS-1 is considerably lighter, quieter and more comfortable than the old helmet. I really liked my Scorpion but the new Bell is just so much better. Visor installation and adjustment is very simple and precise. I haven't had a chance to verify airflow just yet riding in January in the Northeast when it's best to keep the vents closed but I'm sure it will be as good or better than my old lid in that respect. There was some noise noticeable at higher speeds 70mph that I attribute to the closed vents but it wasn't terrible. I've already installed my Scala Rider Q2 headset using the foam speaker kit for the Bell Star not easy to find but relatively inexpensive and the fit is perfect. Given the closeout pricing, I'm very happy with this purchase.

it's the best - lvingforhim   MD Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Fits like a glove, soft and comfortable
Cons: not quite as brite in color as I thought it would be

Bell has a good name and this is my first Bell helmet and with the way it fits it won't be my last. I shopped all over the net and serveral bike shops near me and found no better pricing than here. I really liked the helpful and informative videos offered on all your helmets on your web site. All in all I am now a customer for life at Competition Accessories. Great products, great prices and very good customer service.

Bell RS1 RSD helmet - Central Texas   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Fit, low wind noise, light weight
Cons: No internal visor, difficult to get sunglasses on.

Wear medium size and RS1 fits as expected. Worn Icon helmet until this one. While the Icon helmet is good the RS1 provides better wind noise reduction, lighter weight and better fit. Color and design gets great comments and is reflective. Comes with clear face shield. Highly recommend.

Amazing helmet for the bucks - WaynoJ   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great fit, amazing ventilation, fantastic price
Cons: So-so graphics in the RSD Flash version

Let me start off by saying I also own a Bell Vortex helmet Attack graphics, so I'm familiar with the Bell fit and build quality. I'm very happy with the Vortex, but I found that in the size XL, which I require, it is just loose enough that it pushes back into my glasses at moderately high speeds 65. I recently attended the International Motorcycle Show in Seattle and was able to try on an RS1 in XL, and the difference in fit is noticeable. The RS1 is very slightly narrower, just enough that it still fits me in an XL but stays in place much better. Product descriptions on the Bell website describe it as race fit, which makes sense when you experience it at high speed. As for other aspects of the RS1, the ventilation is absolutely amazing, significantly better than the Vortex, which has great ventilation in it's own right. The graphics aren't the greatest -- it doesn't show in the pictures, but there are sparklies all over the surface of the RSD Flash which give it a kind of girly look no offense, ladies, but sparklies aren't good for a guy. If it weren't for that, I would call this the perfect helmet, especially at the 249.99 price at which I purchased it 100 cheaper than any other version of the RS1.

Buy the RS1, Love the Price - Bell Man   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light, quiet, low price, optional light sensitive shield
    Cons: none

The Bell RS1 is a wonderful helmet for the money. I have had Shoei, HJC, older Bells, AGV and more and this is by far my favorite. I called and got had them answer a few questions for me and then ordered online. They really helped me get the helmet I wanted at the price I needed.

bell rs1 flash helmet - md   GA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: features and closeout price it was a good bargin
    Cons: none

sized right i head measures 22cm which is the top end of a small and that is how it feels...the features look great for this helmet and at the closeout price it was a good bargin...i would recommend the this helmet at a closeout price

Great helmet Great value Great store - Shawn   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: High quality SNELL approved helmet. No surprises buying online.
    Cons: Sticker graphics

This helmet is a great value for what you are getting. It is a very well-constructed helmet and performs exactly as it is described. It's much quieter than my cheaper HJC helmet, and does not buffet at high speeds. I was a little disappointed that the graphics appeared to be just a sticker.I'm a new customer to Comp Acc and they delivered just as expected. It's always a little scary ordering online but I will be returning here for my next purchases.

first helmet in too long - Bell RSD Flash   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Good Value
    Cons: none

The day after I received this wonderful helmet, I realized there was a price check of 50 dollars. Bad timing on my part. After wearing it around town I knew It didn't matter, this helmet rocks. I consider the look sort of retro, which matches my bike. Can you give me a deal on the smoked visor The sun is starting to poke itself through the clouds up here in WA. state.

Bell RS1 RSD Flash Helmet - Day Ryder   CT Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great fit and feel. Plush interior, excellent shield mechanism..
Cons: Rattle at speed from the forehead air vent while closed at certain angles..

Love this helmet. Would prefer that the clear coat was applied over a thin water color mask instead of the vinyl sticker so it would look more upscale or have no color at all.. I guess that is what made it less expensive as not many buy this far out color scheme. I love the fit, lightness and how quiet it is.. It is relatively warm in cold weather and did not have a foggin problem. I did hear a rattle coming from the forehead vent at times at certain angles. Need to put more Miles's on it as it is cold in the NE and only rode about 30 miles so far one day.

Bell RS1 - Mike L.   CT Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: Purpose Built
Cons: Very Very tight on lower opening

Quality is a ok, the rsd rs1 flash design is a sticker, but sticker excess can be seen through the top ventsseems like they cut the sticker too long and force stamp the vents in,,,matte paint is good in general but bumps or devision bw stickergraphic is too obvious and not seemless...biggest complain was the opening to get ur head in,,,It was verytoo tight that I need to dramatically open the bottom by spreading the chin strap with quiet a lot of force apartboth to get my head in and specially to get my head out, which is speciallyprobably NOT good in an emergencyno emergency cheek pad removal...headcrown was perfect fit but lower half was constricted even without the the cheeks padding minimal space is available. The magnetic D-ring straps is too oversize and seem like it can stab your adams appletrachiaI can feel it all the time when bobbing my head. Another concern about the D-ring strap is the Rivets itself that holds itcan be seen in from the outside can be felt through the cheek pad which is uncomfortabls as well.... The visor seems good but the tear-off post placement seems inadequate as it blocks partial peripheral vision....I really wanted to keep the helmet and debated on return but after keeping and wearing it excessively around the house for DAYS it was too too uncomfortable....I got it very cheap on sale about 13 the price but still returned it, it was just that and I knew that those issues and discomfort would make this helmet a paper weight... If you do not have a jaw maybe this will be good for you as it seems it was purpose built...

Now very Loud - Mark   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Light, comfortable, well made
Cons: ill fitting for me and now very loud

Was initially very pleased, but after just a few rides it developed into a very loud helmet with a significant air leak. I wonder if I need different size check or liners Contacted Bell and they are sending a return shipping label and will look at warranty. I wear either a size M or S depending on the helmet, but I have not had this level of problem with sizing in the past. When my Scorpion helmets got packed out, after a few years I simply bought new liners and check pads.

Pros: Quite, Light weight, Stable, Style & design
    Cons: None so far

This is an excellent helmet for 3 season riding with open vents. I guess it wont be a problem in the winter too. Its very very quite, my 2013 Daytona red lining isn't noisy to me anymore. Good build quality and aerodynamics tested at high speed. You do hear the wind if you tilt your head sideways though. Has room for Bluetooth attachments. Visor setting are pretty neat too. The colors and design get you noticed on the road. Thumbs up to pricing, there's none better. I am very satisfied with the purchase. Do measure your crown before buying though, this helmet is snug by design. I didn't order a size up though and the helmet is now broken in nicely.

Third RS-1 helmet - WaynoJ   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light-weight, great fit, quiet, huge ventilation
    Cons: None

This is my third Bell RS-1 helmet. First was the RSD Flash version, which got demolished in a rear-ender about a year ago. Second was a Gearhead in red, my all-time favorite graphics for a helmet still using it. When CA put the Gearhead in white on a close-out sale for under 200, I jumped on it for a spare, although it does go better with my new white Triumph Street Triple, so it gets a little use. This is just a great helmet -- very light weight especially compared to the Bell Vortex the RSD Flash replaced, best fitting of any helmet I've ever tried on my traditional long-oval head, very quiet, and lets in huge air with all of the vents open. The pads are quickly and easily replaced when they get sloppy, and easily removed for cleaning. Just over-all a fantastic helmet, especially for the price. Thanks, CA

two thumbs up - Paul   NC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: lightweight, easy face-shield removal, good visability
    Cons: ventilation ports, chin strap

Overall - a great helmet. This is my third one. Love the light weight and visibility. The face shield change-out is lightning quick and secure. The face pads are snug and comfortable. That being said, the ventilation ports need improvement. They are not easy to adjust with gloves on and only give moderate airflow on hot days. Additionally, the chin strap can also be cumbersome to fit with gloves on.Still, a great helmet that is worth the money when compared to more expensive rivals such as Shoei and Arai.

This is a nice helmet. I got a large which fit a little tighter than the Shoei's but Felt very good once I got used to it. I like the tighter feel. It vents well when it's warm. The price at Competition Accessories was fantastic too.

Great Helmet - Robert   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Quality, light, quiet, graphics
    Cons: None

I recently replaced a Shoei RF-1000 that I had for five years with a new RF-1100. No complaints about the was my second one and I thought I would always wear a Shoei. The RF-1100 turned out to be a disappointment. Fit and quality were what I came to expect from Shoeis excellent but the new one is LOUD Always have worn earplugs, but the difference between the 1100 and older 1000 is significant. Also, the 1100 is not as aerodynamically smooth as the 1000 behind my sport touring fairing the buffeting is pronounced and contributes to the noise. Air inlets function great, but another contributor to noise they whistle at speed. I read several reviews that pointed to the RS-1 as a high-quality, good fitting, and quiet helmet so when I saw that CA had my size in several appealing graphics, I ordered one. Easily the equal to the Shoei in fit, function, and quality, but significantly lighter half a pound on my digital scale and oh so very much quieter No buffering behind the fairing either. I have also worn both helmets on the track track bike is naked, no fairing or windscreen and the Bell is smoother in free-stream air as well. Ventilation is good and I can feel the brow vents work. I like to have at least two helmets at any time, and will be selling off the Shoei to buy a second RS-1 which I will buy from CA.I bought two separate RS-1s from CA because I was not sure of the fit and returned one taking advantage of CA's excellent return and exchange policies. Sent back the redundant one and had my credit card refunded well within their stated time. Excellent service

Pros: inexpensive, comfortable, good airflow, well made.
    Cons: [None]

I bought this for a track day. I neded a full face helmet for Cal. Superbike school, and didnt plan on using it much. But with its Snell rating and good reviews, thought id try it. Worked great, visor was clear and stayed shut at 140 speeds, with ear pluugs it didnt sound any louder than any other lid. Comfortable, my head is a 22 14, right between a SM..the Medium was a perfect fit. The airflow was good, lots of vents that worked in hot southern weather. it comes with a hetmet bag, nose and chin valance. Lot of helmet for the money. It even looks pretty good. You cant tell its a low end lid unless you look real close..I have had a bunch of 3-400 lids, and other than finish, is just as nice and has all the same features of higher ones.. hope this helps

As good as my RF-1100, possibly better. Excellent fit, quality, finish. Slightly lighter than the Shoei, and a lot quieter as well. Have used it both with and without a fairing on my bike and is is stable, no buffeting. Brow vents work very well...ran a track day on Memorial Day with temps around 100, could feel the ventilation working to cool off my head. Purchased the Airtrix, but exchanged it for a Gearhead and at the prices CompAcc sells them for, they are the helmet bargain of the year Excellent helmet for the money. Will eventually replace it with another.

Great Helmet at an Unbeatable Price - Olivier   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Comfortable, quiet, well made
    Cons: [None]

Found this helmet at an incredible discount 189, so it joined the Bell Star I already had. Compared to the Bell Star, this RS1 definitely feels heavier, but it is also much quieter. Its weight is well balanced though, and even on a one-day, 600-mile trip on my ZX10R, neck fatigue was never an issue with this helmet. Compared to the Star, which was designed for a more track-oriented purpose, the field of vision is slightly more restricted when you are crouching on the tank and looking up, but again this helmet was not designed primarily for track use. The RS1 is an excellent sport-touring lid very quiet, comfy well-balanced and well-made. Hopefully, the feeling of quality of this helmet will translate into trouble-free use. On the Star, the magnet on the strap fell off after only a few months, which was disappointing. With a little luck, all the parts will stay together on this RS1 Anyway, to sum up an unbeatable deal on a quality so far... helmet. Thank you Comp-Acc

Pros: Price, Comfortable, air flow, SNELL2010I race cars
Cons: A little noisy, three big Bell logos

When I measured my head I was kind of between a medium and large size. I went with the large and glad I did. It fit pretty snug when I first got it. After a short time the cheek pads relaxed a bit and the helmet fits comfortably snug. I did start to notice more wind noise after though. The chin strap slack uses a magnet instead of a snap. My other riding friend is jealous of that.

I purchase a silver model on sale. The fit was perfect but you should use the chart from the Bell site for this helmet vs. the one on this site. The sizing is different. The quality is much better than expected and the only negative is the clip on the provided helmet bag broke the first time used which is not a big deal. The best value on a quality Snell 2010 helmet.

This helmet was bought as a replacement for a stolen snif Bell Star Hess. It's much quieter than the Star, and flows nearly as much air. It's nice and soft on all of the liner, and fits my long oval without any hotspots. the magnetic retainer is so handy I'm annoyed when I have to use a snap...Side note- the Transitions visor is hella cool

Great helmet at a discount - 61duc   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Has great appearance and a comfortable fit
Cons: Odd sizing, with a 58-59 large instead of 59-60 large for other helmets

Fits great and really has a great looking appearance. Has very good vents for air and the visor will lock down, which many helmets don't. The same lever to lock the visor can be used to barely crack open the visor for fresh air and keep it in that position. Was being sold at a great discount at slightly less than 250 instead of the standard price of about 450. Overall a great helmet.

Bell Rs1 vs Vortex - rmphill   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: quiet,snug fit,liner,air flow , better visor mechanism .
Cons: graphics are a bit cartoony.

So... This helmet hands down a great helmet I already had a Bell so getting this wasn't a problem. I still have a Bell Vortex but just upgraded to the Bell Rs1 gearhead. It's way more quiet then the Vortex Ita got a bug fit compared to the Vortex, it flows air way better than the Vortex, the 3 position visor settings Is a huge plus. The moment I went for my first ride in this helmet I noticed an immediate difference in comfort style ergonomics to wind noise . That's a huge thing for me , wind noise my Vortex had the worst wind noise ever whistle through the whole helmet form 20 mph to 130 mph didn't matter how fast or slow I went it would have a substantial amount of noise to the point of irritation with ear plugs in . If you have doubts just read this none BS review... and if your looking at the shoei line up just think price . The RS is quieter than the qwest my brothers got the shoei qwest the qwest is louder it fogs more and the padding and shield are all different and heavier. The RS1 is lighter softer quiter and just flows air way better and it's around Ooo 250 cheaper with graphics the qwest is around 400 for solids no graphics. But if you are considering this don't hesitate whether you want a new helmet or your upgrading the Vortex you won't be disappointed and I might add I paid 189 for my vortex had I just got the rs1 for the fantastic price of 199 to begin with I wouldn't have experience with any other helmet so get it you won't be sorry .

Good value, Great Visor - Jim   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light, quiet, aerodynamic, Transitions Visor
Cons: Sizing is slightly on small side

This is a great helmet for the price at CA. It fits slightly small. I ordered the large, as I wear in an Arai, but it was too tight. I exchanged for an XL, which is just slightly loose. My head measures 59.5 cm., which falls between large and XL. With a little extra padding the XL is now comfortable. The helmet is quieter than my Arai due to a snugger fit around the sides and back of the neck. It is very stable at higher speeds. The best feature of Bell helmets is the optional Transitions visor. These are expensive, at 120, but fabulous The shield reacts quickly to changing light conditions and is never too light or too dark. Just right It is completely clear at night. No more changing visors or being caught out with the wrong one.

Pros: Snell approved, shield system, ventilation, fit, styling
    Cons: Big, LOUD

For the price, the Bell Vortex is a steal. All the features included in this mid-range helmet make it a great choice for anyone who doesn't want to spend the money to move up to an aria or a shoei. My only big complaint is the noise level. There are two tiny exhaust ports low on the back of the helmet that create an enormous amount of wind noise inside the helmet. Throw in some earplugs and you have a great helmet at an amazing price.

Good Fit - Jack Creevy   NH Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Good fit and very stable.
Cons: The right side hinge plate that holds the face shield in place broke the first time I removed the shield

All in all I am pleased with this helmet. Could not believe the price for such a quality piece of equipment. Because it was silver for some reason it was 100.00 less than the other Vortex helmets. I do have one complaint however in that the brow vent allows so much air in that after about an hour my forehead starts to hurt really bad. Tried closing all of the vents but, air still gets in. I was able to reduce this quite a bit by removing the top liner and plugging the holes with foam insulation and then reinstalling the liner. Never did I ever think I would complain about a helmet that flows to much air. Now I love this helmet.

Pros: Beautiful Red metal flake paint, nice quilted padding, excellent price, quick shipping
Cons: Inner liner not removable and sizes are smaller then other brands.

Great looking helmet, beautiful red flake paint job, but sizing is smaller than other open face helmets I have purchased Inner padding is nice but not as comfortable as my Torc or Fulmer helmets. If you have a round head vs elongated head go up a size to avoid pressure point pain on long rides Bell 500 Helmets are great helmets, they just need to soften the inner liner, make it removable and change the outer shell to be more comfy for different shape heads

Nice Helmet, but didn't fit well - Kit   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Light, Paint was great
Cons: Fit a bit tight for my head

My comment is only about fitment. I wear a size L for the Scorpion Exo 750 and 700. The inner tag reads 59-60cm on my Scorpion. This particular bell helmet read 58cm-59cm. I tried the helmet on and immediately felt the helmet crushing my brain. I have an oval shaped head. I immediately returned it and purchased an Exo-750 from this site. The Exo-750's fitment was perfect right out the bat. Great customer service, I got my refund almost immediately and my Exo-750 came quick.

Great deal on a very good helmet - Scrappy McStuffins The Wonder Cat   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Value, Visor RemovalReplacement, Fit
    Cons: Noise

I bought this as a replacement for my old Vortex that was getting pretty worn out. This one was on clearance, so I picked it up when I saw the deal they had. I think it is easily worth the full price, but at the clearance price, it was a no-brainer.Before the prior Vortex, I wore an Arai Profile, which is significantly more expensive, but not so much better than the Vortex to justify the price difference.I find the Vortex is very comfortable, Keep in mind that the padding will break in quite a bit, so make sure you get a tight fit. It will feel too tight for the first month, but that is what you want.As far as is noisier than the Arai Profile I wore, but with earplugs which you should be wearing anyway, the noise is not bothersome at all to me. I read some of the recommendations on blocking the vents behind the ear and tried that with my new Vortex. Not sure if it made that big of a difference. Also, I use a Sena SMH-10 and it fits just fine on this helmet using the clamp.

Overall very nice - Travis   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Stable Aero
Cons: Tries to slit my throat

The weight of this helmet is nearly identical to my old one KBC VR2, but the weight distribution is better. I feel like most of the weight is at my ears or lower. I think this makes it a little easier to move around for head checks and makes it SEEM lighter. The aero stability is really great though. Slices through the wind very nicely, even with your head turned. The first down side is that the large is quite snug compared to other large size helmets. It's still acceptable for me, but I could see where someone else might need to send it back for an XL.The other down side is that the buckle for the chin strap is in the middle of your neck. My last helmet had it offset of one side. The result is that, unless the strap is placed in just the right place, and the padding located just so, the buckle digs into my adam's apple. It can be a little painful and distracting at times. It hasn't injured me, yet. But I'm considering shortening the strap that holds the buckle to move it over. I honestly don't know how it made it out of Bell R&D without someone complaining about this. I'm no helmet expert and have maybe owned only about 4 helmets in my life, but none of them had the buckle in the middle.Overall I still like the helmet though.

Aerodynamic - Robotman   PA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Visor, ventilation, no buffeting, paint scheme
Cons: Loud, lets air in in the chin area

Overall I am pleased with this helmet. I was still using my 2000 vintage Shoei RF-R when my son read something online that said you should replace your helmet every 5 years. The straps and liner were getting pretty ratty so I decided to get a new lid. This helmet is light and aerodynamic compared to the old Shoei. The way the visor locks and unlatches with the lever on the side is easy to use. I have been riding in the 50 degree spring air here in PA and it does let in a little more air around your chin than I would like but a scarf fixes that. In the summer that will actually be a plus. The vent system works great Both the top and front visor vent systems flow a lot of air when left open. The Airtex Speedway paint scheme seems correct for my Triumph Sprint ST and a black jacket. I like it a lot altogether. The helmet is a good value and has a good feature set. I bought a large and wear a 7-18 hat size. It's a good tight fit. I keep my hair pretty short. If there is one thing that is disappointing, it is how loud the helmet is. It is as loud as the old Shoei and I was expecting quieter. I think the gaps at the ears for a comm system are the culprit here. I might get a Bluetooth setup for talking to my son when we ride and maybe that will make it quieter... The Sprint has a more upright riding position than the pure crotch rocket bikes and maybe that makes a difference. The windshield on my bike dumps the air exactly in the center of the visor. That is based on where the bugs are hitting That could be a factor in the noise too. Really, I am just nit picking, it is a great helmet. I am 59 so I have seen the evolution of the full face and this is a good one.

Pros: This is the most comfortable helmet that I have owned.
    Cons: [None]

Unfortunately, cold and snow have gotten in the way of getting out and riding with this new helmet. However, the package showed up within two days and on the first day of the Polar Vortex. I will say that this is the second Bell I have had in a row and this is super comfortable. I spent about 20 minutes putting it on and trying to get the fit right and chasing the dogs around the house with it on, because why not right. Snug in all the appropriate place and good sight radius. I cant wait for some warmer weather to give this a real test.
