I have had the transition II for six years and could not wear it out I finally replaced it because it was looking warn stains in the gray fabric and, well, because I like gear This jacket has seen wear in all extremes Temps in the twenties in Northern Japan to temps above 100 in Texas and so forth. The vent system is excellent and scoops tremendous air on hot days. This can also be a con as all that air scooping will act like a parachute on a naked bike. On my VFR however I never experienced this problem. In the heat, with the liner out and at a stop the jacket can be hot as with any layers of material but not nearly as hot as my leather jacket. Durability is also excellent and not a single functioning part of the jacket ever failed over six years. Even the phospholite reflective material functioned as designed without much degradation in over 40,000 miles of riding, all seasons, lots of rain and an end of season wash for cleaning. The jacket is also waterproof as advertised but the air and water will get in the neck. A neck gator or an under helmet hood would have made this jacket 100 complete but lacking that you will need a neck gator or balaclava for a lot of wet cold riding to remain comfortable. The pockets are well placed, well thought out AND also waterproof. No worries about the ipod or phone in the rain The key pocket in the left arm is very handy and I never used it for a key but did use it for small bills and change on toll roads and my ID card credit card so I did not have to keep a bulky wallet on me.
