Here's the deal: I've owned several Shoei helmets size LARGE over the years and have always been satisfied. That's why when I need another I don't bother shopping around between brands... or at least 'til now. I currently use Shoei's RF1100 a good full-face helmet on cold days, their J-WING a great open-face version of the 1100 when it's warmer, and now the RJ Platinum a so-so, poor cousin at best when the visor might be useful. Except for the aforementioned visor, I'm not sure where Shoei wanted to go with this model. This helmet doesn't have the same "quality" look and feel of any of the others. The size is slightly, albeit measurably, larger than the others so that new it wears like it's 3 years old. Maybe optional padding will snug it up. The ventilation looks like something from the '80s. In my opinion, Shoei discontinued the wrong open-face model. Worse, now I'll have to shop around for my next helmet of this type.
