The Nolan N104 Modular Helmet is the next generation of modular helmets offered by Nolan Helmets. The N103 had been popular for riders who wanted a flip up helmet design, and the new N104 has some new features that will make it an even better choice. The new Nolan N104 features a new chinbar design which leaves the helmet with a narrower shell, meaning less bulk on top of your head. The Centromatic chin bar lock on the Nolan N104 requires two simultaneous actions to open, meaning less chance of the chinbar opening in an accident. The Airbooster ventilation system in the Nolan N104 modular helmet is designed for maximum airflow with minimum wind noise. The eyeport has also been substantially widened for excellent visibility out of the helmet, and there is a new internal sun visor system as well. The new VPS sun visor is anti-fog and anti-scratch coated to keep your vision clear, and it also has an all new mechanism. A slider at the base of the helmet easily deploys the tinted shield, while a push button quickly and easily retracts it. A Pinlock shield is also included with the Nolan N104, further enhancing your ability to see even in challenging conditions. Lastly, the new Nolan N104 is also factory ready for installation of the new Nolan B4 N-Com system. Nolan N104 - Peter P.   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Comfortable and functional
Cons: None to speak of at this point

Great helmet, my first Nolan, always wore HTC, Arai and Shoei, figured I try a Nolan. This helmet 'broke in' quickly and is quite comfortable. The built in sun visor comes in handy and the fact that the chin bar has a lock mechanism is great as I like to ride with it up in hot weather. I'd recommend this helmet to anyone that's yet to try a Nolan, make sure it fits, the price I paid was over 100 less than the dealer too,... Made in Italy is another factor that I likedCheers,Peter P.

GOOD DEAL - SPEED TRIPLE   NY Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: does what it says
    Cons: abit tight

My head size is 7 14 which put between a Med and Large. I got a Med and it is tight in the jaw area, buckle is at the max. still think i would go with a med. just can't smile for long. wind noise is low when sitting straight up louder when heads down. It compares to my last AGV blizzard helmet. compacc had the best price by 70.

Really Nice Helmet - Rider from Wi   WI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Looks Good, Works Perfectly, Really Nice Features
    Cons: None so far

Haven't had much time to use it yet do to the weather, but when I have its really nice and look forward to putting it on. I wanted a modular helmet to replace an old full face helmet, looked at several and choose the Noan104. I really like the tinted flip down visor inside, it is very easy to lower or raise and I don't need sunglasses. The helmet chin bar is solid and locks securely when lowered. The buckle type chin strap is new to me and is an improvement over the old ring type in my opinion. I also bought the T-bar that goes thru the red end of the buckle so you can lock it to the bike. I installed the pin lock shield inside the visor and it works great eliminating any fogging. Finish of the helmet seems high quality. Competition Accessories service was outstandingVery Happy with my new Nolan helmet

Nice helmet - wf13624   MN Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: very quiet and comfortable
    Cons: double action release

I'm very happy with the purchase of the Nolan n104 helmet. It performs just as described. It fits nice, lens stays clear, and is very quiet. The only draw back is the double action release at the chin takes some getting used to. Highly recommend it to any rider.

Better than anticipated - VulcanWA   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Lightweight, quality construction, best modular I've owned
Cons: Internal visor shape, limited options for having the shield slightly open

This is an upgrade from the N102 for me. I really liked my first modular Nolan, so I wanted to stick with them. I was a small in the N102 and after some research, I ordered a medium in the N104. It is a perfect fit. Having a previous Nolan, I had high expectations for this model and I am not disappointed. I do want a bit bigger, darker internal sun visor, so hopefully I will be able to find something aftermarket. Also when it comes to the Bluetooth setup... Who is going to spend more than the original price of the helmet for an accessory I'm sure it's quality but it is simply way too expensive. Again, waiting for an aftermarket solution that doesn't break the bank. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and this was the cheapest place to buy my helmet.

Nolan 104 - .boB   CO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light weight, one handed opening, sun shield, anti-fog shield, chin strap
Cons: Sun shield is too short

I have only used this helmet for 3-4 hours, but I find it very comfortable and quiet. I'v been wearing a Nolan for many years, and I like their fit and finish. This one is a little bit lighter than my old one, but I don't really notice the difference. Oddly enough, one of my favorite features is the chin strap. I don't know why more helmet makers don't do something like that. The only thing I would ding them on is the sun shield. I could be just about 34 - 1 longer. Every time I look down at my gauges, the transition is right there.

Nolan N104 Helmet - Guzzi Jim   WA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Light, excellent visibility, the integrated sun visor is great
Cons: Noisier than my old Shoei RF 1000, takes some practice to smoothly use control devices

Generally, this is a great helmet. For whatever reason this helmet has more wind noise and wearing earplugs is something you probably want to do on longer rides. I wear a size 6-78 hat and a medium helmet seems to fit me fine though the chin strap is a little uncomfortable. The latch system for the chin strap is great as well as the integrated sun visor. This is my first modular helmet and it did take me a little while to get used to using all the releases with gloves on. I haven't yet been on any extended rides, but have worn the helmet for a couple two hour rides without any fatigue issues.

Great helmet - mustang125   AL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Light weight and quiet
Cons: Chin strap is going to take a while to get used to

I am a full face helmet hater and have tried several modular helmets but was not a fan. This helmet is great because it has a better latch system that is more secure and makes the helmet about as good as a true full face helmet. It is also as quiet as a full face helmet. I rode last night and it was cool outside but the pin-loc kept the lens from fogging up just like advertised. It looks really big but it feels small on your head. It is nice and light for its size. The chin strap is not that comfortable to me. I will have to get used to it I guess. It also doesn't have D-rings for my helmet lock so I will have to get a new lock. I will buy another one for my wife when I get the money.

Nolan N104 - Jeff   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: VPS inner visor, huge eye port, quiet, quick release chin strap, light weight
    Cons: None

This is my first Nolan, and flip-up, having ridden with Shoei, Arai, and Bell helmets for the last 30 years. My first observations were that this helmet is very light weight compared to the other helmets currently available. The opening mechanism for the chin bar is a 2 step procedure which will eliminate the possibility of the chin bar opening accidentally. My thumb and fore-finger is all that is need to open it. Once adjusted, the microlock chin strap mechanism is easy to use , even with gloves on. I have never been able to thread the chin strap thru the D- rings with gloves on for any of the previous helmets to date. This is a HUGE plus The chin bar can also be released with warmer weather gloves on. I really like the fact that the chin bar not only rotates up, but slightly back when fully up, and can be locked into place with a small button on the left side. The VPS inner visor is the best feature. I no longer have to change to sunglasses, or even change the main visor to a darker shade when out riding. A simple slide of the lever on the left side and the VPS visor locks in place. Just push the red button to release this inner visor and it slides back up quickly by itself. This makes going to and from shaded areas a breeze to compensate for. With the helmet on, there is plenty of room in the chin bar area when using a communication system. My main concern here was that the chin bar would be to close to my mouth when closed. I have at least 34 of an inch to fit the microphone for easy speaking. On all previous full-face helmets I could kiss the chin bar with ease. The overall feel of the interior on my head is of supreme comfort. I always put the Nolan on with the chin bar raised and then lower the chin bar to lock in place. I have read with other reviewers, with flip-up helmets, that they noticed when lowering the chin bar caused the cheek pads to be pressed in tighter. This is not he case on my N104. The helmet fit does not change open or closed. I am sure other people reading this wanted to know. On changing the main visor, you just slide a button and pop off the visor quick and simple. Reinstalling the visor is just as simple. No tools required The eye-port is the largest that I have ever seen on a helmet. My vision never feels cramped or compromised as with other helmets. My peripheral vision is outstanding Side to side and up and down are the best of any helmet out there. Ventilation is also superb The vent slides can be operated very easily and customized to your tastes. The pin-lock anti-fog inner shield is easy to put in place. Just make sure to really flatten the main visor to latch the anti fog insert on the pins. I felt like I was going to break the main visor when I flattened it, as per the directions, but it sprung back to original shape instantly. No fogging to speak of. I only ride down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit , but never noticed a problem. The size XL is the perfect fit for me. I have always worn an XL since my head circumference is 24 inches. The sizing guide is spot on correct. Overall an outstanding helmet. Well worth the admission price

Great helmet - DartyV   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Great quality
    Cons: None

This helmet is very well made. The folks at Compacc are super to deal with. They have super fast shipping.

Great Helmet - CowboyJim   NC Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Pin lock anti fog, big view port, high quality, relatively quite
Cons: Won't fit in my saddle bags, can't secure to bike cause no D ring, a little tight on the tips of my ears

This is my first 'premium' helmet and I love it It is a very smart design and is build of high quality materials. I wanted a helmet that would not fog and this one is perfect. I can breath in the helmet all day in the cold and it will not fog...simply amazing compared to the other helmets I have. I am still getting used to the flip up design and ratchet chin strap but change is good.I was disappointed when the helmet was too big to fit inside my 1150GS adventure saddle bag while my XL Scorpion does. Also, I could not lock it since it doesn't have a D ring. That is why I just purchased a 6 foot lock that I will use to lock it and my other goodies up like my jacket. No big deal. I really like the helmet so far.

Best Flip - The Old Guy   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: The Nolan N-104 fits very well, quiet and very well made. The mechanism is smooth and secure.
    Cons: There aren't any cons

I've only ridden with Arai high end helmets or the past 20 years. All previous flip up helmets have seemed too much of a compromise in noise, weight and protection. Including the earlier Nolans. While any flip up is in theory a protection compromise, the N-104 comes closest to a full face in all aspects. Easily comparable to the other European flip, at a much more reasonable price.

Great Helmet - Rocky   NJ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Price, comfort, clarity of lens, easy to open lift
    Cons: None so far

Great helmet. Nice sturdy construction, low noise, great ventilation, and best of all is the clarity of the lens.

Nolan 104 Helmwt - svaBMWR1200RT   MI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Fit and Mechanical functions
    Cons: can't think of any

Great Helmet. Ventilation is good. Chinbarvisor opens and closes with ease-everytime. And the price was great. I like the micro lock strap vs the D-ring. Simple and quick.

Nolan N104 - Gordy   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Great fit. Very quiet. Love the latching chin strap.
    Cons: None so far.

I am absolutely delighted with my new N104. It is convenient, quiet, and clearly well-made. I am kicking myself for not getting a modular helmet sooner.

Nolan N104 - Hersh   TX Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Changable Internal Visor, NCom B4, Large field of view
    Cons: [None]

Great helmet, the NCom B4 communication system wFM & Bluetooth is extreamely easy to install and use. The N104's internal shaded drop down visor is very simple to change out to a different shadecolor.

    Hilly
I have only ridden with an HJC 3/4 helmet forever, I am safety conscious, but every full face helmet made me feel shut out from the world, with limited visibility. I have to say this helmet was worth the wait. The visibility is amazing. It equals a 3/4 helmet, so no blind spots. Plus the pinlock face shield is so clear and doesn't fog up, even if you try. When installing pinlock, keep the yellow pinlock cover on, and while wearing thin gloves to avoid smudging the shield, push one side into place. Then I stretched the shield slightly to elongate enough to push the second pinlock in. Once you smooth out any ridge, remove yellow cover tape, and you're good to go. The hinge mechanism feels strong, the double chin bar levers are an intelligent design to avoid unintended release. And the sun shades work perfect, no more sunglasses, and instant up when you enter a dark tunnel, very safe. If you're claustrophobic like I am, you will appreciate modular helmets like this Nolan. The latch strap is so much nicer than dealing with the old kind, and is more secure, super easy on/off. The venting is phenomenal. The moment I slid the lever, I felt cool air rushing over the top of my head, and out the back. I feel like I've gone from a yugo to a ferrari, I highly recommend upgrading if you are in an older helmet. Nolan hit the nail with this one, and you will literally "see" why. Great customer service as always with compacc, there was a minor issue with the first helmet sent, they made sure I had a new one in no time, no fuss, no frustration, good stuff. Buy your wife one as well, mine loves hers. Thanks!

    Test fit
I was able to test fit this helmet at the International Motorcycle Show.
Initial response was this thing is light in comparison to my N102. Significantly lighter.
Fit was amazing in a large, absolutely no hot spots, fit my head perfectly.
The chin bar felt 100 smoother in operation, both swing up and down and latching and unlatching.
New features, you can lock the chin bar up for 3/4 helmet riding, and the sunvisor now locks down, and has a 1 button retraction feature. This one is on my list for replacing the N102!

Helmet fit - Helmet fit   FL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Really nice helmet
Cons: The ear pockets were too low and the top of my ears were being folded over.

I am one of many individuals who get claustrophobia wearing a full or even a modular helmet. I didn't realize this until I tried this one on. I have no problem with my HJC IS-33 34 helmet.

Nolan N104 - TG   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Great fit and function
Cons: Had to settle on color

Love the helmet and the purchase was zero hassle the only thing was I wanted a gray and red color combo but it was BO'd for two months. Love the Bluetooth too I'd recommend this helmet to anyone the price was great This is my first high end helmet...

Interesting Design - KW   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Large face shield opening
    Cons: Large face shield

The most obvious feature of the N104 is the large opening, which goes of course with a large shield. This is a nice feature - visibility is excellent. However, if you like to ride with the shield up, you need to have a very good windshield or the large face-shield will act as a sail. On my bike, the vibration was so bad that it felt like my eyeballs were shaking. I was able to adjust my wind protection, and the helmet is usable. The helmet is on the small side - a Large fits like a Medium. The padding feels somewhat rough compared to high-quality helmets like Shoei. The mechanical features work very well.Overall, this is a good helmet - I am not convinced that it should cost as much as it does. I'd recommend it with reservations.

Spouse - GigiL   MA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Quiet, light
    Cons: na

I have owned Nolan helmets for years, this is by far their best.

Nice - RMc NJ   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Fit, finish, comfortable
Cons: No directions how to remove visor to install anti fog shield

After researching modular helmets I decided on the Nolan 104. I like the fit and quick release strap, wide view shield. However, the anti fog shield alters the view like looking through cloudy plexiglass.I would recommend this helmet to a friend.

Nolan N104 - burnman   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Fairly light weight flip-up, large face shield opening, internal drop down shade, very nice interior padding, easy to use opening mechanism
Cons: Poor vents, drop down shade isn't adjustable and doesn't go down far enough, break-in time long

Second Nolan for both my wife and I. Must say we thought after reading the reviews and write-ups that this helmet would be better than it is. If you are behind a windscreen you might want something else, old Nolans were 10 times better venting. Face shield only has one click option on the low end for part way opening, not enough. Really like the inside drop down shade but for both of us it needs to go down at least 12 more, it takes a long time to get use to seeing through the bottom edge of the shade. One button push for shade retraction makes it easy but I don't see it lasting very long with everyday use. Every helmet takes awhile for breakin, we both have thin faces but the cheek pads on these are way to tight. After 10 hours mine is starting to feel like it is part of me. On the positive, lighter than before and I can feel it, way better in the buffeting dept. The larger face opening is sweet. Noise might be slightly better if at all. Quality is high. Price through Competition Accessories is great plus they are SUPER fast. For the money my dislikes are things I am more than willing to put aside. Just wish the venting was better.

A 'nod' to a helmet - Nolan N104 Helmet   IL Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: The Nolan N104 Helmet is a light, well ventilated helmet with a wide viewing
Cons: The chin strap is uncomfortable.

My riding buddy has used and loves his Nolan N103 for several seasons. On the other hand, he has enjoyed making fun of my bargain basement helmet. Consequently, when I decided to upgrade my helmet, I went for the Nolan N103 which has been replaced by the N104. Hopefully, my experiences will be a positive as his. Time will tell.

protect your head - Djwill236   NJ Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: many features
    Cons: size

I like this helmet for the many features this helmet provides, several vents and the anti-fog shield work very well. I also went with the N-Com B-4 system that hides and conforms well into this helmet and provides nice sound inside. For the size I went with the recommended size medium, but once I received the helmet it was to small and went with a large which fit better. I would go one size bigger they fit quite snug. Ride safe

Nice helmet...sure fits differently than the N90 - Oneydee   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Attractive design, Wide eyeport, good ventilation, comfortable and quiet for a modular
Cons: Snug fit fore-aft, VPS shield nose cutout too big - interferes with vision when down

I haven't spent much time yet with the helmet but can tell that it is a quality lid with many design features engineered in. I would caution anyone coming off of an N90 to try a 104 on first before buying as the two helmets fit night and day differently. I have a long fore-aft head and my chin makes contact with the chin bar on the 104 where it did not on the 90. Moving up a size helped but I am concerned now that the helmet liner may pack in and the helmet will be too large for me down the road. One thing for sure that I don't care for is the design of the VPS inner sun shield. The nose cutout is basically a large square notch taken out of the shield. It is so large that I find it right in my line of sight at times and a distraction to being able to see clearly ahead when the shield is deployed. The paintfinish is top-notch and the chin bar locking mechanism seems robust and well designed. Overall this is a great choice in a 2012 modular helmet. Moving up from an HJC, G-Max, etc. the rider will notice a quality improvement right away.

Nolan N104 - Manfred   MI Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Internal sunvisor, outer shield quality and dimensions, new latch design
Cons: Shield detent positionforce, shield fogging, wind noise.

I used a Nolan N100E for several years before buying the N104, so I have a pretty good standard of comparison. Overall quality is excellent. I thought I'd like the internal sunvisor, but after about 8,000 miles I LOVE IT. It is SO NICE not to have to screw around with sunglasses anymore. The internal visor provides better coverage and stays cleaner than sunglasses do, and I found the tint to be sufficiently dark even while riding into the sun on the desert and in the mountains. The new one-handed chinguard latch control is an improvement over the N100's 2-handed design, which over time became troublesome when trying to open if it was NOT on my head it was always easy to release or close while worn. The N104 has a larger and re-shaped viewport. The Lexan shield quality is excellent in terms of clarity, lack of distortion, and ease of removalinstallation. The internal suspension seems an improvement especially in terms of allowing air circulation. The N104 is 40g lighter than the N100 and quite comfortable even on 800 mile days. The new ventilation controls are easy to use and the ventilation itself seems slightly more effective than on the N100. The ratchet-style strap buckle is essentially unchanged and needed no improvement it's far more convenient than double D-rings. However... My biggest gripe is about the shield detent positions. The shield can either be fully closed using the pin-lock, which definitely keeps it securely closed, or resting on the pin-lock, which is almost completely ineffective in terms of allowing more airflow, or open at one of 3 detents. On the N100, the first detent left a gap of 16mm at the centerline, which was an excellent option when you needed to prevent fogging or just wanted a bit of fresh air. The N100 shield would stay open in this position, even at freeway speeds on a sport-touring bike that has essentially no windshield. But on the N104, the first detent leaves a gap of over 50mm, which is too much in many situations, and furthermore it will NOT stay open at high speed or in a significant headwind at least not without a big windshield. Adding the weight of the fog-resistant inner visor would increase the tendency to self-close. Another big gripe, which is related to the detent issue, is how fog-prone this shield is. I've been using helmets with Lexan shields for 30 years and this is absolutely the worst in terms of fogging if there's even a slight rain or humiditycool temperature. Yes, an anti-fog inner visor IS provided with the helmet but a it seems like a hassle to install, b adds weight to the shield which is a problem on a couple counts, c is bound to reduce overall clarity of the viewport, and d why is the fogging so bad in the first place Finally there's wind noise which is a battle I've been fighting for years. On my bike BMW R1100RS I've cut the shield down and repositioned it so, if I sit up very straight which is less comfortable than the forward slouch I prefer, the helmet rim is up out of the turbulent zone. The N100 was fairly decent in this regime, though earplugs were still necessary. The N104 is definitely noisier in a basic way, even when completely out of the turbulence, and in addition the slot for the sliding control for the inner visor adds yet more noise immediately next to the left ear. After buying this helmet I noticed the Gmax GM54 which is also a flip-face, inner sunvisor-equipped helmet but has the inner visor control along the crown of the helmet. That would be less convenient in terms of arm motion required, but would probably reduce effective noise at ear-level. The GM54 is considerably cheaper, which does raise a bit of question about quality, but it has a lot of nice features and appears to be getting uniformly excellent reviews but unfortunately, still has a DD ring strap.

Good Helmet - Bruce   MO Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Fit, low wind noise
Cons: No available communications system other than Bluetooth

Have the helmet and it is definitely a good improvement on the older versions. Wind noise is down and the visor shade is inside the clear visor so it is protected. However, don't expect to add a J&M Comm unit to it unless you are willing to send it to them for a custom install Per J&M, Way too much liability involved in that scenario whereby we cannot tightly control the quality of the headset install on the N104 but not for older helmets of Bluetooth.

N104 - Love it or try again - NeoConWinger   MD Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Paintfinish, fit, function
    Cons: Fit, function, air, noise

First let me say that I read all the reviews I could find. What did it get me 5 people love it and 5 people hate it. So no offense but that leaves me with nothing.Paint What can be said BMWBenz automotive grade. This came out of the box with a shine. And more slippery than silicone on a non-stick pan. Excellent. But with that said I would settle for a sloppy appearance and better function. Fit Many people panned the 'pressure' it puts on certain areas of the head. But I say one mans pressure is another mans snug. Very subjective. I do not think you can have a proper snug fit without pressure somewhere. If you do not have snug then you have a helmet that may be too big for you. Plus Nolan only made 2 outer shells and this is bound to affect some one.I feel it is tight but may loosen up with time. And I wear glasses so...I will feel pressure behind the ears I have to deal with on any helmet.Face shield Fine closure but could use a notch between closed and quarter open. My old Nolan 100 had a smaller first notch.Sun shield I like it. Yes it has an annoying notch cutout for your nose. But I wear bi-focals so I am used to looking at and thru lines. Not an issue for me.Air Circulation Well it is a motorcycle helmet. No one seems to have this right. First I must state that I ride a Goldwing with a high windscreen. I may not get the best advantage of the aerodynamics of this helmet. For me this is a hot helmet. That is why I would love a smaller open notch in the face shield mechanism. But also understand that this will ruin the water tight seal at the top. So you can't have both. On a hot, rainy day I will fry. Simple enough.Ratchet Micro-notch retention strap Having had a Nolan 100 I was already used to this and I like it. No complaints.Noise Level It is no Shoei that is for sure. But it IS a modular and that breeds a certain compromise in any helmet. I feel that my old N100 was quieter with the shield closed than this but I have no problem wearing earplugs as you should do anyway. I rate it a comparable.Sadly the problem with any of these expensive items we so love for our toys is that you can not try them out before buying them. A fit in the dealer showroom is not going to tell you what this helmet is going to feel like after 5 hours on the road. Same goes for the 500 to 700 custom seats that so many makers love to sell. Every seat feels good for 15 minutes. But ask me again after 8 hours in the hot sunSo I like the Nolan 104 and after sweating in it for 3 hours I guess I can not in good conscience return it. But I do not think it is so bad that I can not live with its quirks. And they may work out over time just as I came to like my N100. I will keep it and I feel I have a fine helmet at a fair price. And the only reason for a helmet is to keep the police happy and help save my noggin in the event I become suddenly separated from the bike...here is to hoping I never try out it's impact capabilities which are also very good by the way. Hope this helps some one.

    After first weekend
I put in a couple of hundred miles this weekend with the new helmet and have the following impressions.
    Pros
    Quality build
    Great ventilation
    Easy on off shield
    Reasonably quiet,
    Positive lock on the faceshield
    Popdown visor
    Cons
Fit is kind of tight for a Charlie Brown head like me. Not as tight as the Xlite was.
Shield causes mild buffet when full open

I replaced a N102 with this helmet so very please so far. Hopefully the break-in will make the fit a little more comfortable. Would buy again.

Helmet - Good helmet but...   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Well made, Like the Yellow color, good features
Cons: Heavier then I thought it would be

A very nice helmet for the price. However you can't expect to fit everyone. My problem was my ears were hitting the top of the recessed area where the ears are supposed to nest. It was bending my ears over at the top. Shame because it was a very nice helmet.

The build quality of this helmet is excellent. Much easier to change shields. than with other Nolans I have owned. Otherwise I am not happy at all with my purchase. I would send it back, but my date dropped it to the road on a ride yesterday, sctatching it a little. Size and fit - it is comfortable but runs a little big in comparison to my N102 of the same size. I have an Arai Profile XL head, that is, long oval. A XXL in this helmet is very close to being too big for me.The chinbar mechanism is great and has a high quality feel to it. The face shield will not stay up by itself very well when going down the road. The internal sun shield just plain sucks. It is either up or down.and it does not go down far enough. There is a large cutout in it at the nose that is totally unnecessary and distracting. The eye port is huge, so huge that the sunlight becomes an issue, there is no shielding from the helmet itself, no eyebrow effect. The darkest tinted faceshield avialiable is just barely tinted, almost no effect in the bright sun. Noise level is about the same as my N102, which is bad. Earplugs are a necessity. The racheting chinstrap is a step backward IMHO from the N102. It is smaller and easy to work, but it is uncomfortable under my chin, this may be due to misadjustment, but time will tell.I am going to keep this helmet for a while and see if I get used to it, but for right now I am very unhappy with it.

Bad quality DANGEROUS helmet - David K   CA Recommended by Reviewer: No
    Pros: Good Air Ventilation
Cons: Poor quality liner, Dangerous design of lowerd chin bar for larger view of shield

I Bought many helmets during last ten yrs of my riding career and N104 is the WORST and Most DANGEROUS helmet I have ever bought... I wish I could return this but wife threw out the original box and I'm too lazy to argue withe the seller. In order to have a better view through the shield, they have lowered the chin protection significantly which I think would break my collar bone even in a slow highside accident. The chin bar is so low that when I turn my head side to side, it hits my shoulders. At the same time it hits the release button of the shade which startled me several time. Any movement of the head also hits the collar bone. They definitly reduced the wind noise coming through the neck area by enlarging the chin bar and neck liner, however the high pitched wind noise coming through the windshield is greater than any other cheap helmet. The lining of the helmet is poor quality. The quality of the lining is thin and seems like it's for bicycle helmet. The chin strap device is made out of hard plastic and metal and it irritates my neck so I end up loosening the strap which again is dangerous. I would never recommend this HELLMET to anyone No wonder it was on sale for 100 less even for a brand new model.
