Michelin Commander 2 launches a new motorcycle tire which delivers unrivaled tire life. Independent tests carried out in the United States using a Harley-Davidson® Electra Glide® Classic prove it: a rear MICHELIN Commander II is capable of covering up to 40,000 kilometers*. That’s nearly twice the distance covered by its direct competitors, while the longevity of the front tire is even greater. The MICHELIN Commander II creates a new standard with regard to durability, yet without making any compromises in terms of wet weather grip, maneuverability or stability. This performance balance provides yet another eloquent illustration of Michelin’s research and development philosophy: no performance gain to be achieved on one front to the detriment of another.
In response to the major problem faced by custom motorcycle riders – tire life, notably at the rear –, the engineers at the Michelin Technology Center at Ladoux, near Clermont-Ferrand (France), have developed a new rubber compound. The carcass of this new radial tire is associated with Silica Rain Technology (SRT) which integrates silica into the compound of the tire tread, while the MICHELIN Commander II's tread pattern has been designed to prevent all forms of uneven wear.
The exclusive architecture of the MICHELIN Commander II brings both maneuverability and stability. The tire’s more rigid, high-density carcass improves maneuverability, while the aramid fiber crown ply of the rear tire enhances resistance and lightness for impeccable stability, even at high speeds.
Last but not least, the numerous longitudinal grooves of the new tire's tread pattern optimize water dispersal for outstanding wet weather grip.
A new standard in cruiser tire longevity
Independent tests* show that the Michelin® Commander® II rear tire lasts almost twice as long its main competitors, the Metzeler ME 880 and the Dunlop D407/408.
Innovative technology
Commander II 90-thread ply is 25% more dense than conventional plies.
Amplified Density Technology: A highly dense, more-rigid tire casing, which helps deliver excellent feedback and handling.
Aramid tread plies on the rear tire resist centrifugal growth, reduce weight and provide excellent stability.
All-new rubber compounds for remarkable wet grip, without compromising
durability.
Square bead wires improve casing rigidity, handling and ease of installation.
A groundbreaking new look
Unique tread pattern for head-turning looks.
Premium sidewall treatment complements cruiser styling.

Michelin Commander II Motorcycle Tires - clwcomp

Pros: High mileage, great handling,
Cons: [None]
Just ordered my second set of Michelin Commander II's. Have tried several brands of tires over the years and average 5000 - 8000 miles on a rear tire. Currently have 18000 miles on Commander II rear tire. Estimate in 4000 miles I will still have 14 of original tread left. Pretty awesome Not even close on the front tire yet. Estimating I will get close to 40000 miles on it. Have driven cross country on interstate and locally on chip and seal, asphalt, concrete, gravel and dirt in all kinds of weather. Tires handle well and shed water very well. Only caveat has been on grooved pavement but I still haven't found a tire that handles that well.

Pros: Excellent handling and traction, great ride, looks good, awesome price,
Cons: NONE
I installed this awesome tire in May, 2012 just before participating in Rolling Thunder and have already put over 5,000 miles on this tire since May. VERY pleased - will order another complete set when these need replacing.. Looking forward to seeing just how many miles this tire will get and if Michelin's milage claims are true. Have been caught in heavy rain and these tires perform excellent. Highly recommend.
Major difference - Roadstar1700 AR

Pros: Awesome traction, reasonable price, Good looks
Cons: none
I don't have many miles on these tires yet, my roadstar came factory with dunlops. Needless to say I will never run them again. I bought front and back Michelin Commander 2's and what a difference. I will have to change the way I ride because of the inceased traction these tires produce compared to the dunlops. Makes the bike feel glued to the road. I highly recommend them.

Installed these tires on my 2011 Super Glide Custom to replace the stock Michelin Scorcher 31's. Compared to those tires the Commander 2's are better on irregular surfaces such as rain grooves with no pulling or wandering from the front wheel. The tires exhibit neutral handling characteristics same as the 31's did which makes for precise and easy cornering. Traction seems comparable to the stock tires and the load ratings front and rear are the same.I was pleased to get 11,000 miles out of the Scorchers and the Commander 2's should break that mark according to their claims. The rear tire has deeper tread than the Scorchers and the tread and sidewall designs look good and give the bike a sporty, aggressive appearance.Haven't had a chance to try these tires in the rain yet, but have always been pleased with Michelin products. So far I am very happy with the Commander 2's.

Definitely a big step up from the original commander tires. Ordered these from COMPACC and had them mounted two weeks ago. I have put on nearly a thousand miles going down to Vegas and around the South rim of the Grand Canyon. All I can say is wow. Definitely a solid great handling tire. Priced along the same lines as my factory 402's but in my opinion a much better tire. If the 20, 000 mileage rating is everything Michelin says it is they definitely have a winner.
