I own a older pair of these they are very comfortable. I really like the hard plastic ankle protection why I purchased them. I have a bad back and having comfortable shoes is a huge plus.

My pair are older so they don't have foam around top of boot. Only thing I hate about them is it is not a Goodyear weld sole. So you cannot resole them. They do have Dr. Martins like soles. But when I pay 100 for a boot I like to be able to get new soles.

I am tempted to by these though. So I changed from 4 to 5 stars.

Your ankles are worth not getting shattered. Those HD boots never have any ankle protection.
