Highly versatile helmet - Thumpalong TN
Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: sunshade fit easy to put onoff with eyeglasses
Cons: none
Great helmet for the times you want an open face helmet. I love it for trail riding - the shield stays relatively fog-free and you can flip up the shield when stopped to prevent fogging. I bought a second one of these since I liked the first one so much and the sunshade had a lot to do with my decision. Great fit for me but based on experience I knew I needed an extra large even though the sizing chart called for a large based on head circumference.
Wonderful helmet - HJC IS-33 Harley Style
Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Resonable price, quiet and it fits great Works with the UCLEAR HBC-200 bluetooth
Cons: None
I have the Harley version of this helmet with UCLEAR HBC-200 blue tooth set up and this is the best combination I have ever ridden with, HBC-200 has no boom, beaming microphone speakers on each side to pick up my voice, which in this helmet is stellar in performance. I could always use a bit more volume at my age, but the voice is clear and easy to understand. I ride full dress Harleys with V&H exhaust on top of Harley big bore kits. This helmet keeps the noise out so I can enjoy longer rides with no problem. I connect with my iPhone 4 and Garmin 600 GPS with no problems or conflicts. Definitely recommend the IS-33 and the HBC-200 setup.
HJC IS-33 - Sabrejack DE

Pros: Excellent fit personal, great finish, great face coverage in cool weather
Cons: Somewhat noisy
In the raised pinky world of Shoei and Arai, I have always had good experiences with HJC. On only one occasion did I ride a bike to the ground, and I remember my head bouncing uncontrollably on the pavement until I came to rest. The helmet performed perfectly, protecting my noggin and really, was still usable even then, although scraped up grandly. Of course, I replaced that helmet the next day but kept the damaged one as a reminder. The faceplates are very easy to remove for cleaning or replacement and the interior sun shade also but a little less so. My head, and let me stress this... I can only speak for mine as everyone's shape and dimensions are different, always seems to have a perfect fit with extra large HJC's. I also have a few other HJC's including modular which I use in cold weather. But the face shield on this model does a fine job of blocking cool air. However, I wouldn't want to use it in very cold weather without neck covering. In warm weather, just don't close the shield all the way... there are several detente positions for that. All in all, the price is great and the product seems to be as good as it gets. I'll be getting another when this one has lived out its life.
Victory Rider - Edward P MI

Pros: Very comfortable and functional
Cons: None
I have found this helmet to be comfortable from extended rides down to 33 degrees F, and upwards to mid 80s, while riding my Victory Vision. I also have installed a Chatterbox XBI2, and the up fit was super easy

Had this helmet over a year now and 14,000 miles later it is still comfortable. Hardly any noise and I installed a Scala G-4 set in it also. Great air flow when vents are open, warm in the winter with the face shield down. Order this product and you will be satisfied!!!!

Love the helmet.. No problems with it. Wife just ordered one too for her Xmas gift from the kids. Highly recommend this helmet

Sounds like someones helmet is too loose. I have no wind shield on my V-Rod and my helmet is completely stable with a great fit. It's also cool during the hot Texas Days. This is a great 3/4 helmet; highly recommend this one!

good helmet for the money - Ray MA

Pros: Fit, internal sun visor.
Cons: none
I have other HJC helmets and have not been disappointed. The IS-33 is no exception.Size chart said I was on the high side of large so I ordered an XL. The fit was snug at the start but comfortable. I'm sure it will loosen up a bit. The helmet is pretty quiet.I'm happy with it.

Very comfortable helmet, lightweight with nice feature of shade that comes down and can retract automatically. Wish the shade was just a little bit longer as it barely comes below my sight line with glasses, but other than that, extremely happy with this purchase.
Quality 34 Helmet - Tony P. AZ

Pros: Well made, light weight
Cons: A little tight
Bought this helmet to use while riding a Gold Wing and wanted to use Communications speakers and mic. Helmet is well made as all HJC helmets seem to be. Installation of J&M speaker system very easy and fit the Helmet with no alterations. Good product at a good pric.
nice,but not perfect - kawvulcan

Pros: sunshield, lightweight, flip up visor
Cons: tight at forehead, sunshield too light
my last helmet was an HJC and a x-large size, it fit perfectly, this one is tight on the forehead and actually hurts after awhile. Although I feel a larger size helmet would be too loose. Other than that it is lightweight. I love the flip up sunshield even though it isn't dark enough for a sunny day. The flip up main shield is nice and easy to put up at low speeds and stoplights. If they could just fix the fit and darken the sunshield the helmet would be perfect. After 2 other HJC helmets that were great I am a bit disappointed.

Bought a flat black for myself and a anthracite for my wife, after riding for many years wearing half helmets, l was really surprised at how well the helmets fit. l have no complaints at all and have had no problem with buffering from the wind from my windshield. The thing with wind buffering with this style of helmet is the top of the windshield height needs to be at the center of the nose when seated or you will get more buffering from the wind than if you wearing a half or beanie style helmet.

I'd just like to note that I tried these on recently and they look like a winner. I have a thin face and normally wear a small but the medium feels so good I think I'll get a large. But first I need to try them again with glasses on.

I purchased this helmet in Wine Berry. The fit and finish is very good, the color is beautiful. The shields and vents work well, mechanically a very sound unit. I have one complaint though, it's much less aerodynamic that I would have expected. I ride a 2009 Harley Ultra Classic with the stock windshield. If I flip out the fairing vents to have air flow on me always needed for these hot Texas summers the helmet buffets so bad that I almost can't see. This happens above 40 MPH. It vibrates and shakes so much that every thing in front of me is blurry, and even worse to the side of you when you turn your head. You can hardly focus. When I close the fairing vents it's not so bad, but it does still shake. I don't know if this is normal with this unit or whether it's just my particular set up. I have not been on a bike without a windshield yet but will try it out on my daughter's Sportster to see how it works there. I will follow up when I do. Other than this vibration it's a great unit. I still wear it because my flip up Nolan is just to hot for summer here. I'll be purchasing a shorty soon to see if that works better.
IS-33 - ricksr

Pros: comfort, internal sun shield.
Cons: wind noise, clear shield vision distortion.
i'm 6.4 and I ride behind the windshield of a gl1800 and the wind is minimal. But for some reason these helmets transform the wind noise into a high pitched sound. I doesn't matter wether the shields up or down. I have more wind noise interference than with a Bell Mag-8 or even a shorty helmet. It's odd and we can't figure out what part of the helmet causes the disturbance. We do like the helmets and will keep them. Just have to get used to the wind noise.

Nice helmet. Got it to for a lighter summer helmet as a birthday present. Nice and light, really wide view. I wish I could get an inner shied that was darker. The stock Light Smoke is way too light. I don't want to change the shield as I ride in changing light situations and prefer the IS to handle that.
Forehead pain
Love the helment, but after about an hour of use it gives me a severe pain right at the hairline on top of my forehead. I can get some bit of relief by pushing on the back of the helmet to relieve the pressure at that point.
daily rider
i'm a daily commuter and as such i like this helmet, however one of my primary motivations for acquiring a helmet with an inner shield was to have a sun shield when riding into the sun. unfortunately this inner shield when deployed obscures my vision. so i don't use it. too, like another reviewer by forehead pain on longer rides forehead pain is very distracting. we no doubt have more oval shaped heads and need to find a helmet designed to accommodate such.
