HJC CS-R2 Helmet Review
Hey guys this is Reuben at Competition Accessories and this is the all new HJC CS-R2 helmet. This replaces the HJC CS-R1, its a polycarbonate shell helmet. They have molded into a very aerodynamic shape. HJC wind tunnel testing in house and they have used that to perfect how this helmet flows through the air. As your riding you can see it has a sculpted rear spoiler built in the shell, which is going to keep this helmet very stable at speeds and prevent from any buffeting. As far as ventilation goes on this helmet you have a chin bar vent that open and closes at the front, air scoop at the top with a slider switch that is very easy to operate with gloves on. At the rear you have some always open vents that has the steel mesh that gives it a really nice look and it draws warm air right out the back of the helmet while your riding. This helmet is right around 100 dollars, you get a lot of helmet for the money. If you need an entry level helmet this is definitely a good option. One of the great things about it is it comes with the HJ-09 face shield and thats the face shield HJC uses on a lot of their higher end helmets. Its going to block 95% of UV's and it has an anti-scratch coating on it. It actually has a shield locking mechanism so if you push this down its going to actually lock the shield down in place so it cant come open on you. It does have a detente so if you want to open it partially you can do that. To change the shield out is very simple there is basically triggers on each side and it pops right off. Thats very easy to take off and replace. There is a very good selection of shields that are available for this helmet. To reinstall the shield there is an arrow and you line that up and it pops right back into place. Another thing that HJC has done with this helmet is they have given you a fully removable liner. Basically there is going to be a few snaps in the cheek pads, those are going to come right out. Its lined with a material called Nylex. Its fairly nice for the money it is a good soft fit. Its not going to be moisture wicking. To remove the crown liner two snaps at the back and then a pull around the front and that comes right out. You will see they have used mesh along the sides to allow that ventilation to reach your skin. If you look at the inside of the helmet you can see there is some channeling for that ventilation. That is the HJC CS-R2, brand new helmet from them. I think it has a nice shape, its comfortable, and definitely a good entry level helmet. You can check these out online at Competition Accessories.

Pros: Easily installed and definitely keeps the wind out.
I purchased the Chin Curtain to stop the wind from coming into the helmet from underneath. It was so easy to install and works exactly as I want it. If you're getting to much wind I would recommend this product.

Most size exchanges have been to up a size. So if you are on the fence. We recommend thinking about going up a size to start. However, please keep in mind the padding will break in some and a helmet that is a little tight vs. too loose for safety.
