Information and Details about the Dunlop Elite 3 Motorcycle Tires - Rear
made by Dunlop
Radial Tires:
These radial touring tires deliver great mileage and handling for all big radial-shod touring motorcycles. Wear resistance is substantially improved with more even wear characteristics providing increased mileage, plus great traction. The E3 tread pattern provides class-leading wet-pavement performance, even while riding through large puddles of standing water. Special tread pattern is not affected by rain grooves or steel bridge decks, resulting in less front-end hunting and more consistent feel. The E3's sport-derived profile provides a lively response in turn transitions and a solid feel through turns for confident cornering. Includes extra-wide and custom sizes 240/40R18, 250/40R18 with good looks and great handling and performance for custom motorcycles.

Bias Tires:
Complete range of bias and belted-bias high-mileage premium touring tires to replace the 491 Elite II in like sizes with black sidewalls. The bias-ply Elite 3 features a tire profile modeled after the shape of modern radial-construction tires and shares many of the same benefits. The weight rating of the E3 rear tire for the Honda GL1500 is increased to 992 pounds for greater load carrying capacity. The high-mileage E3 bias and bias-belted tires suit a wide range of large-displacement touring motorcycles as well as a majority of the most popular cruiser bikes available.
  • Improved performance and long life, the next generation of long-distance tires
  • New E3 tread pattern gives class-leading performance in the rain; handling is not affected by rain grooves, steel bridge decks or tar strips
  • Solid feel inspires more confidence in the corners
  • Blackwall
  • H-Rated: for speeds up to 130 m.p.h.
  • V-Rated: for speeds up to 149 m.p.h.

Best tires ever - streetmachine7   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Long wearing, great grip, great in rain, smooth ride, price
    Cons: none

These are the best tires. Have been getting 17,000 miles on my rear tire and 20,000 on my front. That is on a full dress Harley.

Dunlop Elite 3 - smitty   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: price, quiet, smooth , traction
    Cons: none at this time

I bought this tire for my 2010 goldwing, Grip well on dry and wet surface. It fast and most of all is quiet

Elite 3 - FLcruzer   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Excellent handling characteristics and long life.
    Cons: [None]

When it was time to replace the factory tires on my Honda VTX 1800C, I chose the Elite 3. The stock tires had 8400 miles on them. The front tire probably had 10 miles left on it and the rear was a little better, maybe 200 miles left. The first impression I had of the Elite 3's was that the bike handled better than when it was new, way better. The wet road performance was equally as impressive, and I felt safe with them on the bike. I put 13,500 miles on the bike after having the Elite 3's installed and they still had plenty of thread depth left when I traded the bike. I wasam amazed at the great wear and handling characteristics and will go to Elite 3's when the Metzler's on my new bike wear out in about 8000 miles. I will not gamble on trying something else.

Tires - CJ   IA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: Good traction and wear
Cons: When you lean it way over they'll make some noise

Ive ridden these coast to coast and in all kinds of weather including ice and snow and they never failed me.Taking in account my riding style is aggressive I find they wear well.

a great tire - Tom campbell   Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
    Pros: 2404018
Cons: Great the only one I buy.

This is the best tire I have ever had you can not go wrong with this one. The Dunlop Elite 3 240/40-18. I got 14,448 miles of wear on that tire before changing. I have a 2005 hayabusa I have 90,630 miles on it, you see I ride and a good long lasting tire and its the one.

Dunlop Elite 3 Radials - Saddlebag   OH Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: Ride nice, grip great, last long, reasonably priced
Cons: I can't think of any

These came stock on my Victory Cross Roads and they worked great, so I bought another pair here.

This is the best tire to have on your Bike Period!
    My 1992 FXRS 1340cc Low Rider has the old version of this tire called the Dunlop Elite S/T which they don't make anymore;
It was put on my bike03-21-1997!! We are talking 12 years here! Of course, I don't do any burnouts, and I did let it sit in my building for 5 yrs. which I didn't ride although I had tags and insurance on it. The tread is still good but I has dry wall cracks and it's leaking air now that I ride it hard everyday. So this is the tire I am ordering and I pray that it will last at least a good 9 years.:0......Sue Norris, N.C. My bike now has 58,000 miles on it.

Sounds very good if it does what it says it well do.

great tire - barry richmond   CA Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: mileage was about 13 more handling was good
    Cons: [None]

the tires got me about 3000 more miles than the 402 got me

Cleaning up the GWing Ride - winger   MD Recommended by Reviewer: Yes
Pros: New tread rolls better. Faster turn-in. Better lines than worn tires.
Cons: Tires are great. Changing the tire on the rear of a Gwing ain't fun.

Replaced previous Dunlop 3's after 8k of rolling fun on the Gwing. The Gwing is a heavy ride and it creates unusual wear patterns on the tires, cupping, in particular in the front. Rear tire wore excellent. Few hundred miles on new rubber and all going smoothly so far. Fitment based on Gwing package from CompAcc fit perfectly. Love this site and the service they provide.
