This is my third set of storms, I'm getting 2000 more miles out of the storms than I was other brands. The handling isgreat cause of the softer compound on the outside edge.My K1200S loves them

I love this tire, I have it in 150/70-18 on my 1998 fzr 600 with a bt45 110/80-17 combo for the front. it handles awesome and really has amazed me for a sport touring tire. I was really hoping to get some good life out of them. Unfortunately after about 500 miles I have to get a new one because I have a tread splice and if i hadn't noticed it, it probably would have separated on the highway at some point.
Avon has an awesome warranty and are replacing the tire for free.

Pros: Fantastic Handling, Traction, Treadwear
Cons: Quality Control .. Could Kill You
Boy are the Storms a Mixed Bag. This is a fantastic tire, with astounding traction, cornering, treadwear, and they stick like glue in wet conditions so bad you'd wonder why you were riding.I love these tires. Then again, I hate these tires. I have a BMW K1200 LT. The bike was designed to use radial tires, and these Storms are the only ones left that anyone makes in the right size and weight rating. This bike is HEAVY, powerful, and with a stiff structure that lets you lean way over with confidence. I've had maybe 8 Storms -- front and rear -- total. Two of them have failed. A front had a belt break internally and the resulting weak spot in the tire went down to the cords in the time it took me to tiptoe 200 miles to the nearest dealer. Last week on the way home from work I felt a new vibration -- bike was hopping, windshield flapping. I slowed way down, hoping to make it home. 15 miles later I had to call for a tow truck -- the lap joint in the carcass had failed and let a 1 12 blow out open up across the center of the tread. Fair and balanced -- Any tire would be stressed by the weight and power of my bike. I've seen Bridgestones and Metzelers normally a bulletproof tire brand come apart when used on an LT. Avons fail more often than they should. Avon knows, and they haven't gotten better. If you buy them, check your tires at the beginning and end of every ride. If you don't, you could get hurt.

Pros: Cool looking tread pattern. No problem with obtaining warranty replacement
Cons: I read of other riders complaining of vibration balance issues but I never had this problem.
Very good performance from my first two sets on a FJR1300. Third set rear let me down on a Thanksgiving day 2012 trip after running fairly fast and loaded on I-75 in Florida. After stopping for breakfast and starting back on our way the bike was hopping at slow speed from a ply seperated rear tire that had less than a 1K miles. Avon was quick and responsive to send a new replacment to my vendor. Just kinda sucked limping into Gainesville FL thanksgiving day with no bike shops open so we could continue the trip. Thanks for looking AJ
