AXO Freedom GT Boots ReviewThe AXO Freedom GT boots are fantastic boots for the serious tourer or adventure rider. At 14 inches tall, these boots offer full coverage and very good ankle support. The Freedom GT boots are waterproof and the lining covers all but the top 2.5 inches of the boot. Probably the most innovative feature of these boots is the BOA TECHNOLOGY lacing system. Rather than a zipper or buckles to secure the boots to your feet, the Freedom GT's feature a stainless steel cable lacing system that is truly a joy to use and provides a very secure custom fit. A ratcheting spool on the outer portion of the boot performs the tightening. Simply slip your foot into the boot, and give the BOA knob a few twists, and off you go! When you are ready to take them off, you simply pull out on the knob which releases the cable tension, allowing you to easily pull your feet out of the boots. We are really big fans of the BOA lacing system as it gives you a much more secure custom fit than a simple zipper, but is not any more complicated to get on and off than a regular touring boot. Two other big benefits to the BOA system for motorcyclists: even tension throughout the boot for comfort, and, most importantly, no loose laces to get caught up on your bike. Moving on to other features of these boots, there are accordion style stretch panels on the front and back of the boots, and reflective panels add some night-time visibility on the rear as well. The sole of the Freedom GT Boots have a good grippy compound and a smooth tread pattern so you can easily move around on the pegs. The toe box, heel cup, shin plate, and ankle bones all have reinforcements for impact and abrasion protection. Overall we have been really impressed with the AXO Freedom GT Boots, and if you are in the market for a full length touring boot, these are definitely worth a look.
The FREEDOM GT Waterproof Touring boot is a unique blend of modern materials, construction and design with a time tested fit, function and attention to detail. The AXO freedom GT Boots have the latest collaboration between AXO and BOA TECHNOLOGY has produced the newest idea in street footwear. The BOA closure system is super easy to work, push the rear mounted dial in and twist it until the steel lace tightens the instep of the boot to the desired tension. Pull the dial open and the laces release themselves
The FREEDOM GT utilizes a PU coated synthetic outer construction, which resists breaking down, deformation and thickness irregularities found in a natural material
The unique closure system is achieved by using the new BOA TECHNOLOGY ratcheting spool and stainless steel lace
The center lacing floats over the padded and supportive tongue
Synthetic stretch panels flex and wrap the instep, heel and upper calf areas perfectly
Durable suede leather panels cover the medial side of the FREEDOM GT guarding the boot and the bike from wear and abrasion
The shin, heel cap and calf panel use a pressure molded PU plate offering support and safety against impacts
The shin plate and instep use a full coverage hook and loop closure to seal the front from wind and weather
A soft rubber gaiter is utilized over the shin plate to seal the front of the boot against the leg or pant
Laid over the top of the instep and toe box, the shifter pad is thick enough to reduce irritation yet allows complete dexterity when shifting
AXO’s own injection molded sole is aggressive enough to grip while walking yet glides on the foot pegs when riding
The plastic mid sole and sole offer the correct amount of support reducing fatigue and guarding the bottom of the foot while riding
Mesh lining and internal padding wrap your foot in comfort
Reflective inserts are placed in the rear of the boot for safety

Pros: High protection. 100 water proof.
Cons: A bit large for over pants
Ok, since my last review last year, I got to ride with the boots through the summer in 2012.Was involved in a crash in September of the same year.My beautiful 1800 Goldwing went down sliding on its right side with me sliding in the same direction right behind it. My AXO boots along with my protective helmet, jacket, pants and gloves saved my hide. The AXO boots came through, saving my tootsies, shin and ankles from alot of road rash and hurt. Thanks AXO for such a fine product.Mikey S.

It arrived in very good shape. Very stiff, need time to break in. I can see and feel the heavy protector around my feet. The BOA system works very well. Need time to adjust my shifting habbit, but I won't try to cheat safety. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

I've had these boots for a couple of months now. Have not ridden a whole lot of miles in them or in the rain yet, or in high heat.
Replaced these with my tried and true leather water proof boots i've had for over 10 years.
The fit for me is perfect, as it seems it would be for anyone because of the "dial in" design that after one puts these on, you just have to turn the knob that's on the upper side until it feels just right for your foot.
Very, very comfortable with very good shin protection.
All around this is a very well made boot. I'm a long distance tourer, and only time will tell if they will be a long lasting boot.
