This is a very comfortable, reasonably quiet helmet, with a Hi Viz orange color that is visible for a block The mechanicals of the helmet are very good, with solid locking and smooth swiveling. There is a little fogging as might be expected from a non-pin-lock helmet, but some anti-fog lotion and cranking the shield open a crack does away with that. The sun shade is good and dark it really works and is easy to swivel down. Sizing is consistent with other helmets at least for the XL and it fits round heads. Other than some slight waviness in the lens plastic, this comes very close to a 700 dollar German modular but with its own distinctive shape. It's an incredible buy.

I thought this helmet was great for the first few hours I wore it. It seems like it would flow a ton of air but it doesn't. The padding behind the chin bar vents blocks incoming air. The chin bar also dug into my chin due to the awkward shape of this helmet. It is also very loud. The shield is wavy and, although AFX replaced mine for free, the replacement was also wavy, leading to distorted vision. The interior padding that isn't removable is hot-glued in place and tends to separate after a warm afternoon ride. The major downside is that the chin bar release is made of plastic. I wouldn't chance it in a crash. I love the quick release ratchet on the strap. That's the best part of this helmet. I'm disappointed overall. I have used other AFX helmets and had minimal complaints. If you really need a modular helmet, spend a little more on another model. This feels like AFX just rushed to put this on the market and the result is a heavy, loud, poorly vented, cheap helmet with quality control issues.

However, we suggest measuring at a few points both above and below that line to determine the greatest measurement before referring to our size tables. We also suggest testing the fit of a helmet one size smaller and one size larger then what the chart recommends. No helmet can provide protection if it's too uncomfortable to wear. |
