Front

The Dunlop Roadsmart II Tires are the successors to the popular Roadsmart sport touring tires. They boast some exciting new features that set them apart from not only their predecessor, but every other sport touring tire. The first thing to notice is the all new tread pattern. The Dunlop Roadsmart II Front Tire has a different tread than the Dunlop Roadsmart II Rear Tire . This is because in wet weather conditions, the front tire leads the way for the rear. To help evacuate excess water, Dunlop has incorporated deep rain grooves into both the front and the back tire.

Another new feature is the stiffened tread compound. The compound has been infused with silica. This improves wet weather traction, while also extending the life of the tire. The front tire is composed of a single compound rubber because it’s not under as much stress as the rear. However, the rear tire has a multi-tread; this gives the tire extra longevity.

Rear

The center ridge of the rear tire uses a firm, denser rubber that helps the tire to wear longer.  Another detail to notice is that the rain grooves don’t cross all the way over the center; this puts more rubber to the road that, in turn, extends the tire life.  The edges of the tire have a softer, sticky rubber that improves grip. This is a part of Dunlop’s Intuitive Response Profile. The more the tires lean, the more contact patch the tires will have. This helps if you do more aggressive style riding. Dunlop has given The Sportmax Roadsmart II Tires a stiff carcass, which, coupled with the new tread pattern, greatly reduces squirming. This is a good feature for heavier touring bikes. These tires are strong, sturdy, and will be sure to last. They are a great step up from the original Roadsmart Tires.
