The front tire is composed of a single compound rubber because it’s not under as much stress as the rear. However, the rear tire has a multi-tread; this gives the tire extra longevity.
The center ridge of the rear tire uses a firm, denser rubber that helps the tire to wear longer. Another detail to notice is that the rain grooves don’t cross all the way over the center; this puts more rubber to the road that, in turn, extends the tire life. The edges of the tire have a softer, sticky rubber that improves grip. This is a part of Dunlop’s Intuitive Response Profile. The more the tires lean, the more contact patch the tires will have. This helps if you do more aggressive style riding. Dunlop has given The Sportmax Roadsmart II Tires a stiff carcass, which, coupled with the new tread pattern, greatly reduces squirming. This is a good feature for heavier touring bikes. These tires are strong, sturdy, and will be sure to last. They are a great step up from the original Roadsmart Tires.
