Officials have confirmed that torch will burn at the Isle of Man TT, but it isn’t sure how the event will tie into the TT races. According to IOMTT.com, the flame will reach the Isle of Man on Saturday, June 2nd, 2012, which is the same day that the first TT race of 2012 will be held.

“The Isle of Man is honoured to be hosting the Olympic flame on June 2, 2012,” said Isle of Man Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney. “It will arrive on the Isle of Man on the first race day of the TT next year, which will enable thousands of visitors as well as residents to witness the spectacle.

“The coming of the Olympic Flame to our Island will be a significant part of our sporting history and will tie us firmly into the global Olympic family.”

The Olympic Torch will embark on a 70-day tour on May 18th from  Land’s End, Cornwall. The torch, which usually makes a global tour, will stay primarily in the UK for 2012.

“The Olympic flame will shine a light right across every nation and region of the UK and showcase the very best of who we are and where we live,” said London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe.

Organizers say that the torch will visit famous sporting venues, historic sites, and places of amazing beauty.
