Jimmy_ButtonAfter Jimmy Button’s accident 11 years ago, no one thought that he’d be able to walk again, let alone ride a bicycle 2,428 miles across the country. But that’s just what Button did. Jimmy Button has just completed a cross country journey from San Diego to the Daytona International Speedway in order to raise money for spinal chord research.

Button made the journey with his long time friend and trainer, Cory Worf. They completed the journey in 57 days, 14 hours, 52 minutes and 23 seconds to complete the journey. After making it back to Daytona, Button took a well deserved victory lap.

“I’ve been dreaming about doing this for 18 months,” said Button. “What it would be like, what it would smell like, what it would feel like to actually do it. To ride a bicycle around this place, that was pretty special.”

Button won the Daytona Supercross in the Lites division in 1994, and said that the track always had a special place in his heart.

“It’s one of my favorite races on the series for me personally when I was racing,” Button said. “I had some great results here. I won it one time. It’s one of my prized trophies in my office.”

Button’s “Miles For Miracles” project raised more than $175,000 for spinal chord research.

Here’s a little video about Jimmy Button and “Miles for Miracles.”
