ST_LogoThe Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame has just announced the members of the 2011 class. Don Emde, Evel Knievel, Del Hofer, Michael Prugh, Gloria Tramontin Struck, and Mike and Margaret Wilson will be inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame this year. “One person still riding at 86 years old…”

“The Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame is designed to recognize individuals or groups who have made a long term positive impact on the motorcycle community,” said the Sturgis Museum in a statement.

The 2011 class will be inducted at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle hall of Fame Breakfast on August 10th, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Don_Emde Don EmdeDon Emde was born into a motorcycle family in 1951. He has raced as an amateur scrambler, a road tracker, and a road racer. Don and his father Floydd were the first, and are still the only father son duo to have won the Daytona 200. Emde was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999, and will now be honored by the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
Evel_Knievel Roger Craig “Evel” KnievelPossibly the most widely known motorcyclist of all-time. Evel Knievel was a stunt motorcycle rider who impressed audiences around the world with more than 75 ramp to ramp jumps. The caped motorcycle daredevil holds the Guinness Record for being a survivor of the most broken bones. Knievel died in 2007 at the age of 69.
del_hofer Del HoferDel Hofer has been selling Harley-Davidson Motorcycles for more than 50 years. Hoffer is the longest-serving member of the Harley-Davidson Advisory Board, and is an active member of the AMA.
michael_prugh Michael Prugh

Michael Prugh is as much of a designer as he is a teacher. Prugh has designed many classic bikes, but is also a motorcycle advocate. He’s built numerous bikes for charity. Prugh took second two years in a row at the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

GloriaTramonti_struck Gloria Tramontin StruckGloria Tramontin Struck is a long-time motor maid. In fact, since joining in 1946, she is the longest serving member of the motor maids, and she still rides a motorcycle. Struck started riding in 1941 at the age of 16. At the age of 76 she took a 6,500 mile trip across Europe, spanning 8 countries. And now, at the age of 85, she can still be seen on the back of an Iron Hog.
mike_and_margaret_wilson Mike and Margaret WilsonMike and Margaret Wilson have owned a Harley-Davidson and a Honda dealership, and have been active in the motorcycle community for over 50 years. Mike raced in the TT, and Margaret is a golden member of the Motor Maids, celebrating her 60th year this year. Mike and Margaret both serve on the board of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
