After a two year absence, Miller Motorsports Park has been added back to the AMA Pro Racing series. The riders will get a chance to race at Miller on May 28th to May 30th, but the AMA has also just added an official testing session at Miller on May 2nd and 3rd.
AMA Pro Racing issued a poll to the AMA paddock in order to see if riders and teams would participate at a test session at Miller Motorsports Park. The AMA said that they were concerned about keeping costs down for AMA participants, but the paddock voted strongly in favor of an additional testing session at MMP.
“We’re always mindful of the need to keep costs down for our participants,” said AMA Pro Racing C.O.O. David Atlas. “But as it was clear many had a strong interest in seeing this test conducted, we released the poll to collect more precise information about where the paddock stood on the matter. The results were decidedly in favor of adding Miller Motorsports Park to the official testing schedule, and doing so represents our commitment to remain responsive to the desires of our AMA Pro competitors.”
The testing session at Miller Motorsports Park will be held on May 2nd and May 3rd from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be five 50-minute sessions for the Superbike and the Daytona Sportbike classes, and four 50-minute sessions for the Supersport and the XR1200 divisions.
The AMA Pro Racing series will return to Miller Motorsports Park on May 28th for the third round of the 2011 AMA Racing season.
