karel_abraham_GP_11Karel Abraham has just over a month to prepare for his MotoGP debut, and there is still a lot to do. But after another successful testing session at Sepang last week, Abraham and the Cardion AB Motoracing team are happy with the progress that they have made.

Abraham isn’t riding at the pace of the MotoGP leaders yet, but he is getting more confident aboard the Ducati Desmodeci GP 11. Abraham, a former Moto2 rider, ended the three day test at Sepang in 15th, and was riding at about 1.8 seconds off of the top time. But speed isn’t the top priority for Abraham and the Cardion AB Motoracing team at the moment, as they both work to find the best settings on the GP 11.

“We focused mainly on the front and rear tyres, and the behaviour of the front and rear in the turns,” Abraham said. “At first the front was chattering quite a bit, then the rear was sliding a lot so we had to do something with it, and that’s what we’ve been working hard on.”

Abraham has been adapting nicely to his new Ducati, but admits that the MotoGP is a lot different than the Moto2.

“I think it’s going well. It’s a very difficult bike to ride because it has so much power and I’m not used to it – I think it will take a few more Tests for me to get completely used to it,” Abraham said. “The lines are completely different to how it was in Moto2 or 250cc. I have to learn a completely new style of riding and that takes time.”
