motogp_valencia The final round of the 2010 MotoGP season is finally here. The MotoGP riders will have one last chance to score some points this weekend, as they head to Valencia for the final round of the 2010 MotoGP season.

It is sure to be an emotional weekend for many of the MotoGP riders. Jorge Lorenzo, who has already secured the MotoGP title, will get one last chance to wow his home crowd at Valencia.

“Finally the end of the season is here and for me it is so special to finish in Spain, with all of my fans,” said Lorenzo. “I have already celebrated in Mallorca but this will be the first time I ride in Spain as the World Champion and I am so proud to do so.”

Lorenzo has already secured the Triple Crown, but he could still reach one more milestone this season. If Lorenzo finishes on the podium this weekend, he will beat Valentino Rossi’s record for most points scored in a season.

“We have won the Triple Crown now so our targets are complete, but I would like to make a new points record, which I can do if I finish on the podium,” Lorenzo said. “I have never won in Valencia so I would really like to try this weekend.”

Valentino Rossi will also have an extremely emotional weekend, as he will race his last race aboard his beloved M1 with the Fiat Yamaha team. Rossi has raced 116 races with the Fiat Yamaha team. He won 46 of those races, and earned four world titles.

“So here we are, my last race with Yamaha and it will be an emotional weekend for all,” said Rossi. “Of course I would really like to try to win this final race because it would be a great end to this partnership, which has had so many beautiful moments. This is a special weekend so we will do everything that we can. I am third in the championship after Estoril and second is not impossible, although we know Dani is strong in Valencia and he is still 19 points ahead.”

Pedrosa had a firm grasp on second place until he injured himself in a crash at Motegi. Pedrosa still isn’t in top shape, but he should be able to hold off a charging Valentino Rossi.

Casey Stoner is in fourth, well within reach of the podium. Stoner is just 12 points behind Rossi, and will be looking to make up for a DNF at Estoril. Stoner will also be saying goodbye to his Ducati team after the final MotoGP race this weekend, as he is moving to Honda for the 2011 season.
